See Shakira + Usher’s First Official Promo Pictures for ‘The Voice’

Shakira Usher
NBC

Check out the first photos of Usher and Shakira in the famous red swivel chairs! The new ‘Voice‘ judges make themselves comfortable and look right at home in the NBC promo pics.

Usher reclines in his seat with one leg up on the chair, revealing his bright red kicks that match the color of his reality TV throne. Shakira looks more intent as she stares straight ahead, ready to press her button.

Meanwhile, returning judge Blake Shelton gives a friendly smile, while fellow ‘Voice’ veteran Adam Levine strikes a more artsy pose staring off into the distance.

The next season of ‘The Voice’ returns on March 25, but since the blind auditions have already been taped, the judges have some stories to share. Speaking about Shakira, Adam told Access Hollywood, “I underestimated her.” The Latin pop star replied, “And I stole a couple of contestants from him.” Meanwhile, Usher reported, “I have a confession. There was a contestant who actually sang background for me… Totally did not recognize her voice!”

Levine says he and Shelton thought about hazing the Season 4 newbies, but thought better of it. “Blake and I had all these designs to make them feel very uncomfortable, but we saw how genuinely excited and slightly nervous they were,” Levine said. “We didn’t have it in our hearts to haze them too much. We welcomed them. We made them feel really comfortable because that’s what they deserved.”

Do You Think Usher + Shakira Are Good Fits for ‘The Voice’ Coaching Panel? – Readers Poll

Shakira Christina Aguilera Cee Lo Green Usher

Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green are out, and Shakira and Usher are in! Season 4 of ‘The Voice‘ is sure to be interesting on its own, but the fact that there are two new judges on the panel alongside Adam Levine and Blake Shelton makes things all the more intriguing. While Shakira and Usher are both global superstars, do you think they have what it takes to make a great reality TV judge?

[Sigh] Aguilera and Green’s departure from ‘The Voice’ is bittersweet. While we’re excited for them to move on to bigger and better things in their own lives, we’ll definitely miss Green’s smooth talking and his amazing one liners and Xtina’s banter with her trio of male cohorts. We’re also going to cry when Xtina and Cee Lo aren’t in their big red chairs every week, since we won’t get to see anymore crazy, sparkly getups.

Despite all of this, it’s definitely exciting to see some fresh faces on the coaches panel. Shakira is a very kind person with a strong diva attitude, so we’re curious to see what kind of constructive criticism she’ll deliver. We’re also really hoping that, in addition to helping contestants fine-tune their vocals, the ‘Hips Don’t Lie’ singer will also teach some of them how to shake it up on stage.

And the fact that Usher has signed on to this show just speaks to how big ‘The Voice’ has become. The veteran R&B chart-topper knows the music biz like the back of his hand now, assisting in Justin Bieber’s career launch amongst others, so he’ll be a great asset to the panel. He also has an incredible voice with tons of range, and the fact that he can bust a move is just another added plus.

So, do you think Shakira and Usher will be good replacements for Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green on ‘The Voice’? Or would you have selected two different musicians if you were an NBC exec? Vote and leave a comment below!

Usher Performs ‘Numb’ and Has Dance Showdown on ‘Ellen’

Usher stopped by ‘The Ellen Show’ to perform his ‘Looking 4 Myself’ single ‘Numb.’ The performance was a consummate Usher endevour complete with lights, fog, amazing choreography and impeccable vocals.

But the fun didn’t stop there: Usher joined Ellen to square off in a Dance Central 3 battle. And we don’t mean to state the obvious, but it seems Usher let Ellen win. What a gentleman!

Usher is certainly fearless when it comes to his music — just listen to his genre-bending album ‘Looking 4 Myself.’ The R&B superstar recently showed his fans how much of a risk taker he really is on Instagram.

Over the weekend, Usher decided to go skydiving over Dubai’s oceanic Palm Islands. The ‘Climax’ singer — with his bright red kicks and parachute — was lifted thousands of feet into the air for his first-ever sky dive. Usher successfully jumped out of a plane over the ocean and photographed the entire spectacle. Judging by the photos he posted on his page, the jump was absolutely climatic for the singer.

Usher was in Dubai for a performance at the World Parachuting Championships, so it’s was only right that he experience one of the most gravity-defying sports in the world today. Before his jump, the ‘Scream’ crooner posted a photo of his “Fearless” arm tattoo with the caption, “Fearless Leader.”

Usher had a great year with his No. 1 album (‘Looking 4 Myself’) and single with ‘Climax,’ which was nominated for Best R&B Performance for the 2013 Grammy Awards.

Usher won the Favorite Soul/R&B Album honor Sunday (Nov. 18) at the 2012 American Music Awards for his latest album ‘Looking 4 Myself.’ The is the R&B crooner’s eighth AMA trophy and his fourth in this category. Wow!

An enthusiastic Usher, donning some fresh gold-rimmed sunglasses, rushed the stage and was a little flustered as he flubbed his personal life motto, “Teamwork makes the dream work.” He then was unceremoniously bleeped out as the censors cut off his mic. What the heck did he say?

Nevertheless, Usher was able to get his thank you’s out to the right people. He congratulated his creative team, which included veteran manager Mike Pitts and hit maker Rico Love. He also rattled off a group of names before asking himself, “Did I forget anybody? Hurry up, Usher, time is a-ticking.”

He also thanked a couple of more people in his camp and, most importantly, his financial team. Finally, Usher gave a shout-out to his fans. “Thank you guys so much for this incredible award. To the fans, thank you. Love you,” he said.

Usher kicked off the AMAs with an energetic performance of ‘Numb,’ ‘Climax’ and ‘Can’t Stop Won’t Stop.’ All and all, it was a great night for Usher. He’s probably screaming with delight right now.

R&B superstar Usher kicked off the 40th annual American Music Awards on Sunday (Nov. 18) with an energetic performance of three songs from his latest album ‘Looking 4 Myself.’

Dressed in all black with red boots, the crooner first performed ‘Numb,’ his electro-pop song behind an array of laser beams. He then jumped off a platform and landed on a treadmill to sing ‘Climax,’ his chart-topping ballad of 2012.

While performing his No. 1 hit, Usher was walking in place on the moving track before he started running faster and faster. We knew he was singing live because he could barely catch his breath before segueing into his next sizzling performance of ‘Can’t Stop Won’t Stop.’

Behind a chorus line of female dancers, Usher showed off his impressive footwork which included some pop-locking moves and some two-stepping. Although we are a little disappointed that he didn’t perform ‘Scream,’ another big hit from ‘Looking 4 Myself,’ we are happy that he could bring us to ‘Climax’ so early into the show. Bravo, Usher!

Jennifer Hudson + Usher Honor Whitney Houston on Tribute Special

R&B superstars Jennifer Hudson and Usher were among the singers and celebrities who paid tribute to Whitney Houston during the CBS special ‘We Will Always Love You: A Grammy Salute to Whitney Houston,’ which aired Friday (Nov. 16).

The late pop icon, who passed away on Feb. 9 of an accidental drowning, had a major influence on everyone involved in the show. Although Whitney is no longer with us, her musical legacy continues to gloriously live on.

Hudson, rocking Whitney’s 80s-inspired look with her bouffant hairstyle, got the crowd jumping with a medley of the singer’s classic hits. She started with the empowering anthem ‘I’m Every Woman’ and finished with ‘I Wanna Dance with Somebody.’ At one point, J.Hud approached Whitney’s daughter, Bobbi Kristina, and the two interlocked hands in a show of solidarity.

Later in the show, Usher sung a tender rendition of ‘I Believe In You and Me,’ a Four Tops song Whitney performed for the ‘Preacher’s Wife’ soundtrack. “You taught us to dream, you taught us to believe,” the crooner said as vintage photos of a young Whitney Houston and her family flashed across the big screen.

Other performers included Celine Dion, who performed a rendition of ‘The Greatest Love of All,’ and gospel artists CeCe Winans and Yolanda Adams duetted on ‘Count on Me.’

Actors LL Cool J, Taraji P. Henson and Halle Berry also paid tribute to Nippy during the telecast. “She inspired a generation of little girls and women to believe in their own dreams and to know that they had within themselves the greatest gift of all,” a choked-up Berry said. “I was one of those little girls who then became a woman who never ever, ever stopped loving Whitney Houston.”

We will always love Whitney Houston. May she forever rest eternally in peace.
