The Wanted May Release Two New Albums in 2013

Good news for fans who want more of the Wanted! While rivals One Direction released two albums in 2012 alone, fans of the bad boy Brits have been hanging on to one EP for all of 2012. Thankfully, the band has new music on the horizon for 2013 — and they’re more than making up for lost time, with possibly not one, but two albums on deck.

The group sat down with Billboard ahead of their New Year’s Rockin’ Eve set and promised plenty of good things for the future.

Jay McGuiness (our favorite!) admitted that the band thought they’d have something out by now, but they just weren’t satisfied just yet with what they had. “It was meant to be this Christmas, but it wasn’t ready yet so … we’re thinking around April, we’ll have something ready,” the curly-topped cutie confessed.

Tom Parker added, “I think we’re going to do two albums, one in April and one towards the end of the year, because we’ve written quite a lot of songs this year. We didn’t get to release one at this end of this year so it’s probably going to squeeze to next year, hopefully.”

The band’s next album will include their falsetto-powered single ‘I Found You.’ We’re hoping ‘Mad Man’ is on the track listing too — we loved the snippet we heard!

The Wanted’s Nathan Sykes Reaches Out to Sister of Newtown School Shooting Survivor

The Wanted may have reputations for being bad boys, but they’re definitely softies — at least Nathan Sykes. The ‘I Found You’ singer reached out the sister of a slain teacher from the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting and made her darkest hours a little bit brighter.

Sykes reached out to Carlee Soto, sister of Victoria Soto, a teacher at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, C.T. who hid her students in a closet and stood between them and the shooter, Adam Lanza — effectively sacrificing her own life to save theirs.

ABC News reports that via Twitter, Sykes invited Carlee, a huge fan of the Wanted, to come see them. ”Sending all my love to @ICarlee23 for your birthday! You, Vicki and your family are such an inspiration. Hope you have a lovely day :) xx.” He added, ”Next time we are in NYC I have arranged for you to come and hang out with us if you are up for that? Would be lovely to see ya xx.”

A flustered and ecstatic Carlee replied, ”I think I just died A little reading this tweet. I would love to meet you whenever your [sic] in NY. Thank you so much.” Nathan responded, “awesome! Will be in touch and let ya know when we are next in NYC :) much love xx.”

If you didn’t love the Wanted before, we bet you do now. This warmed our hearts!

The 12 Biggest Breakout Stars of 2012: Carly Rae Jepsen, Sam Claflin & More!

While there are plenty of stars we know and love, 2012 brought us a slew of talent that we’ll certainly be talking about for years to come! Though some might be familiar faces, 2012 was really their year to shine. Whether they created one of the biggest songs of the year (Carly Rae Jepsen), or had us laughing hysterically at the movies (Rebel Wilson), we fell in love with these celebs in 2012.

In no particular order — see who Teen chose as their biggest breakout stars of 2012 below!

Austin Mahone

Much like Justin Bieber (who he is often compared to), 16-year-old Austin Mahone got his start thanks to a number of videos of him singing that went viral on YouTube. Thanks to his charming good looks, and talent to boot, Austin released two singles this year, “11:11,” and “Say Somethin’” which had fans going crazy. 2012 was obviously a good year for him, and 2013 only proves to be bigger!

Chase/Universal Republic

Bridgit Mendler

Bridgit is known for her roles on Disney Channel’s Good Luck Charlie, as well as her musical turn in the 2011 DCOM Lemonade Mouth, but in 2012, Bridgit debuted the infectious single, “Ready Or Not.” And on top of that, she released her first album Hello My Name Is… and topped off the year by performing on The X Factor.

Carly Rae Jepsen

To say 2012 was a HUGE year for CRJ would be a complete understatement. Her first single “Call Me Maybe” burnt up not only the charts, but YouTube video views (it has 362 million…and counting!), and she toured with Justin Bieber on his Believe tour. Though some believed she might be a one hit wonder, her catchy tune proved to have a life of its own as it spawned a number of sing-along vids. Also, the 27-year-old Canadian released her first album, Kiss, which certainly proved nay-sayers wrong. Only good things in this gal’s future, we predict!

Cher Lloyd

Our friends over in the U.K. have been loving Cher since her season of The X Factor back in 2010 (yes, the same season as One Direction!), and even though she only came in fourth during the competition, she’s finally had a breakout year over here in the states! Thanks to her single “Want U Back,” she had millions singing along to her feisty tune. Not only that, but she performed the hit song on the U.S. version of The X Factor, truly coming full circle. And now we can’t help thinking of her every time we hear someone grunt “UH!”

Epic Records

Dean Geyer

Glee fans were devastated when Finchel broke up in the third season finale, but when sexy NYADA senior Brody (Dean) came into Rachel Berry’s life, he had people saying “Finn, who?!” Thanks to his many shirtless scenes and sexy dance moves, people can’t get enough of him. Although, his desirableness did take a bit of a dive when he hooked up with their teacher, played by Kate Hudson.

Ellie Goulding

OK, so we know that Ellie had people talking when she performed at Prince William and Kate Middleton‘s wedding last year, but 2012 was really the year she made a name for herself. Between her hit single “Lights,” which got an insane amount of airtime on the radio, her uplifting new single “Anything Could Happen,” and the fact that she dated dubstep DJ Skrillex, Ellie definitely made a name for herself in 2012!

Fierce Five

The Fierce Five, other wise known as Jordyn Wieber, Kyla RossMcKayla Maroney, Aly Raisman, and Gabby Douglas, had everyone talking during the Olympic games this summer. These gymnasts not only brought home the gold, but stole the hearts of millions! McKayla Maroney particularly had the world talking when she won the silver medal in the vault finals, and was caught making a less than pleased face. The “Not Impressed” meme spread like wild fire, with even President Barack Obama joining in on the fun! Also, Gabby Douglas scored herself a guest spot on The Vampire Diaries. What a year for these talented young ladies!

Phillips Phillips

Phillip Phillips — the singer so nice, they named him twice! The adorable singer won the 11th season of American Idol back in May, and managed to do it all while suffering from major kidney problems! Phillip was such a trooper during the whole thing, it made America fall in love with him even more. Not to mention, his single “Home” had millions singing along, while his debut album, The World from the Side of the Moon, just dropped in November. Oh, and he’ll also be hitting the road with Matchbox 20 in 2013. Way to go, Phillip!

Rebel Wilson

The world took notice of Rebel Wilson in 2011 when she had a hilarious bit part as Kristen Wiig‘s roommate in Bridesmaids, but 2012 was certainly her year to shine. Not only did the Australian actress star in the ensemble comedy What to Expect When You’re Expecting back in May, but she also showed off her vocal chops in the sleeper hit, Pitch Perfect. She already has a number of projects lined up for 2013 including Chris Colfer‘s Struck By Lightning, Pain and Gain with Mark Wahlberg but she also has a TV show titled Super Fun Night in the works. We have a feeling Rebel is here to stay!

Universal Pictures

Universal Pictures

Ryan Beatty

Ryan Beatty has made quite the name for himself on the music scene! Thanks to music videos such as “Hey L.A.” and “Every Little Thing,” millions have been singing along to his tunes on YouTube!

Ryan Beatty

Ryan Beatty

Sam Claflin

One of Sam’s first big roles was in 2011′s Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, and his career has only gotten hotter from there! Not only did he star alongside Kristen Stewart and Charlize Theron in Snow White and the Huntsman, but he got cast as Finnick Odair in a little film called The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, maybe you’ve heard of it? Sam nabbed the highly-coveted role, and we predict he’ll be a household name by this time next year!

The Wanted

Though they’ve been labeled “bad boys” thanks to their on-going feud with One Direction, there’s no denying the guys of The Wanted have released some catchy tunes this year! The guys were first noticed for their hit song “Glad You Came” then followed it up with “I Found You.” 2012 was big for them, and we’re sure 2013 will only be bigger!

One Direction vs. the Wanted: Who Are the Best Boy Band? – Readers Poll

One Direction The Wanted
YouTube / Facebook

First, it was the Beatles and the Stones, then it was ‘N Sync and BSB, and now, the age old boy band rivalry has been reignited in 2012 between One Direction and the Wanted. Both of these British-Irish quintets broke through in the States recently, and ever since they first started out in the U.K. a few years back, there’s been a feud slowing building.

Let’s start with the positives. Both One Direction and the Wanted have had massive singles in the U.S., with the former rising to fame thanks to ‘What Makes You Beautiful,’ while the latter hit it big with ‘Glad You Came.’ Right off the bat, it was apparent that pop fans had two very different groups on their hands, with the wholesome and adorable boys in 1D seeming much more, well, boyish, and the guys from Wanted getting more sexualized with their images and lyrics.

Since skyrocketing to fame, One Direction have become one of the biggest acts in the world, selling out arenas in record time, breaking chart records, making multi-millions off of merch and music sales, and gaining a voracious fan base that rivals that of Justin Bieber. The Wanted haven’t had as big of an impact yet, but they have still gained global recognition for their insanely catchy tunes like ‘Chasing the Sun’ and ‘I Found You,’ their hilarious antics and YouTube videos, and their manly, party-boy reputations.

With verbal disses and threats being hurled back and forth now, the feud between One Direction and the Wanted has reached an all-time high. So, whose side are you on? Are you a Directioner, or a die-hard Wanted fan? Vote for your favorite boy band below!

The Wanted Wear Christmas Sweaters, Play With Presents in Esquire Behind-the-Scenes Video

The well-dressed Wanted got into the holiday spirit for their shoot for the January 2013 issue of Esquire. In this behind-the-scenes video, the boys wear stylish Christmas sweaters and cardis — do such things exist? Uh, yeah they do, only when they the yummy Jay McGuiness, Max George and Co. are wearing them.

The boys hold a turkey, throw brussell sprouts, balance packages and Christmas decorations like gilded reindeer on their heads, wear tinsel and garlands and generally look sexier than a lingerie catalog. The Wanted are hotter than the heat of a thousands blazing suns.

Their falsetto disco song ‘I Found You’ serves as the soundtrack to Siva Kaneswaran eating a candy cane and mop-haired cutie McGuiness reading a copy of the mag while George hops in the makeup chair to get a touch up. The powder is used to buff off the shine that inevitably happens under the bright lights of photo shoots. Yeah, we know this stuff.

If you’ve not fallen in love with the Wanted yet, well, this festive video should help do the trick and seal the deal.

Someone needs to broker a peace treaty between the Wanted and their fellow U.K.’ers in One Direction. They’ve been beefin’ a little and we don’t like it. PopCrush is up for the job of creating a peace accord. It’s a tough gig, but we’re professionals and we’re qualified!

Watch the Wanted Sing ‘White Christmas’

The Wanted — with the help of Stormy the ugly Christmas sweater-wearing dog and band member Max George dressed like Santa — got festive for the holidays.

The boys harmonized, a cappella, on their warm and fuzzy version of ‘White Christmas’ for MTV.

It was a sweet, impromptu rendition that reminded us that the Wanted are incredibly talented vocalists, in addition to being unbelievably cute. This version of a holiday classic is just lovely.

It’s like an audiovisual Christmas card from the Wanted lads.

The Wanted Sing ‘White Christmas’ A Cappella With a Puppy (VIDEO)

Are you dreaming of a white Christmas with The Wanted? Well, today is your lucky day!

The “I Found You” crooners — Max George, Nathan Sykes, Tom Parker, Jay McGuiness and Siva Kaneswaran — got into the holiday spirit with an a cappella version of “White Christmas” for MTV. The British-Irish boy band may make club-ready hits, but that doesn’t mean they don’t know how to harmonize.

And if that doesn’t make you swoon, then perhaps scene-stealer Stormy the dog will do the trick. The golden retriever leaves the performance mid-way through the warbling, only to come back moments later — much to the guys’ excitement.

The Wanted got into the holiday spirit earlier this year, posing for Esquire magazine in a festive spread, complete with presents, tinsel and eating oversized gingerbread cookies.

After a successful year — their club hit “Glad You Came” cracked the Top 10 — The Wanted are currently enjoying a much-needed break. However, it won’t be long until the boys, who are signed to Scooter Braun’s Schoolboy Records, start working on their upcoming third album, which they hope to release in April.

“We are doing a lot more recording in January in the UK,” McGuiness recently told MTV News. “We are going to go to a house together and do some writing.”

But that’s not all. The guys are also planning a world tour to coincide with their area tour in the U.K.

“We are looking to do a huge world tour,” Parker said. “Go back to different countries we’ve visited this year. We are going to do South America, do a tour in the U.S., our arena tour in the U.K. and then we’ve got our album coming out as well, in fact, we might do two albums. We are talking about next year, so we are going to have a busy year, if not busier than this year.”

The Wanted Get in the Christmas Spirit

The Wanted

Though by their own admission, they’re probably on the Naughty List, the Wanted are pretty excited for Christmas. The band is celebrating the season with their fans and one another — and occasionally Lindsay Lohan.

The band posted this festive photo on their Facebook, featuring Max George — arguably the baddest bad boy of the bunch — sporting a Santa hat. Jay McGuiness rocks a green cap like an adorable, possibly-hungover elf. Siva Kaneswaran and Nathan Sykes look normal, while Tom Parker completes the shot in an ironically ugly holiday sweater.

The band have released several videos for their fans and followers in time for Christmas. In one, the band give clues as to their favorite holiday songs (and McGuiness and Parker actually get into a small tiff over theirs before launching into a typically vulgar joke).

In another, the group share behind-the-scenes, backstage and live footage from their recent tours and Jingle Ball performances. You can watch them goofing around and even catch a few a capella and acoustic snippets of ‘I Found You’ around the 3:00 mark. Ho, ho, ho indeed!

Justin Bieber, the Wanted + More Added to ‘New Year’s Rockin’ Eve’ Lineup

The already-stacked lineup for ‘New Year’s Rockin’ Eve’ just got another blast of star power with the addition of Justin Bieber, the Wanted, Psy and others, who will help ring in the 2013 new year with host Ryan Seacrest and headliner Taylor Swift.

Greyson Chance, Ellie Goulding and country star Jason Aldean are the other newcomers to the performance roster. Psy will close out the year by performing one of 2012′s most ubiquitous songs, ‘Gangnam Style,’ in Times Square in New York City, while the rest of the new additions will perform from Los Angeles.

Bieber’s spot on the lineup may ease the pain for Beliebers still angry that the singer got snubbed for the 2013 Grammy Awards. The teen star has been showing up at a number of radio concerts across the country this month, and he just announced another leg of the Believe Tour next June.

The show will run for five hours this year, starting at 8PM with a tribute to Dick Clark, the former New Year’s Eve host who passed away this year. Previously announced performers include OneRepublic, Carly Rae Jepsen, Flo Rida, Pitbull, Neon Trees, Brandy, and Karmin, while Fergie will serve as host for the L.A. ceremonies.

Lindsay Lohan Follows the Wanted to London

Lindsay The Wanted
Valerie Macon / Jamie McCarthy, Getty Images

Lindsay Lohan is the biggest groupie for the Wanted, like, ever. The sometime actress and onetime nascent pop star in her own right is blowing off her court date, slated for tomorrow (Dec. 12) in Los Angeles, since she will be across the pond in the U.K., following the boy band around like a lost puppy.

Lohan is not required to attend the hearing, according to E!. Her lawyer will be representing her while she is out gallivanting and engaging in general acts of misbehavior while negatively influencing Max George and the boys. She has her priorities in line, that’s for sure.

Lohan — let’s just admit her into the Band Aids, the fictional troupe of groupies from ‘Almost Famous’ — will head to London and then Dubai with the Wanted.

She supposedly has the hots for George. She also has lots of outstanding bills, judging from all media reports about her finances. Maybe she’s making some extra coin selling merch for the Wanted? Perhaps manager Scooter Braun put her on the payroll?

First Lady Gaga and now the Wanted. What in the world is the pop star obsession with Li to the Lo? We’re wondering when the Wanted diehards will start lodging death threats against La Lohan, since that’s what they do when they get jealous of famous ladies hanging out with the objects of their affection. Beliebers do it. Directioners do it. Wanted-ers will likely do it.

The Wanted ‘Kidnapped’ Ed Sheeran to Celebrate His Grammy Nomination

Ed Sheeran is still recovering from his Grammy nomination — because he celebrated it with a “mental night” with fellow Brits the Wanted.

The adorable ginger chatted with MTV about the nod and being essentially taken hostage by the bad-boy boy band. “I got kidnapped by the Wanted boys,” he laughed when asked how he heard the news of ‘The A-Team’ being up for Song of the Year. “They took me on their tour bus, and I found out after six or seven beers — which for me, I’m a very cheap date, I can’t really handle too many beers — so I was in a state anyway and, yeah, I just had loads of giggle fits.”

The celebratory antics went down between Jingle Ball show dates following the nomination announcements last Wednesday (Dec. 5).

Sheeran revealed that while he thinks fun. will ultimately take home the trophy, he will probably commemorate the honor with some new ink. “I’m gonna get a Grammy tattoo if I win a Grammy,” he said excitedly. “I’m gonna get one anyway — a nomination, man, it’s the s—.” Realizing he cussed, he quickly apologized. Love his manners!

The tat won’t be the only mark he has to mark the occasion. Following his partying with the Wanted, he revealed, “I had bruises on me and stuff. I didn’t know where they’d come from. It was a pretty mental night.”
