‘The Voice’ Coach Blake Shelton Isn’t ‘Surprised at all’ by Cassadee Pope’s Win (VIDEO)

Blake Shelton has got the goods when it comes to being a great coach on NBC’s The Voice.

On Tuesday’s third season finale of the reality show, two of the three remaining finalists – Terry McDermott and Cassadee Pope – belonged to Team Blake. And last year, the country crooner proved he was the coach to beat with surprise winner Jermaine Paul.

Now, with Season 3′s winner, Shelton has done it again, nabbing back-to-back wins.

On Tuesday night, Team Blake superstar and former Hey Monday singer, Cassadee Pope was crowned the competition’s winner,  thanks in large part to the incorporation of iTunes voting. The singer had two of her three songs from Monday’s final performance show swimming in the Top 10 on the download program, allowing her votes to count 10-fold.

“You know I’m feeling really like a million pounds have been lifted off my shoulders,” Shelton told Celebuzz about Pope’s win after the finale. “I’m not surprised at all by Cassadee winning this show because she’s been a fan favorite and a frontrunner on iTunes all along.”

“I think that probably is the most impressive thing about Cassadee – holding on to that momentum and not peaking too early,” he continued to gush. “She is somebody who is smart enough to figure out what people react to. She’s the type of artist that can be artistic and satisfy herself and also give the fans what they want. That’s what makes her a superstar. It truly is. You can say what you want to say but that’s the truth. She connects with her fans and she’s here for them and that’s why she won The Voice.”

When the popular singing competition show returns for Season 4 in March, coaches Shakira and Usher will be joining Shelton and fellow coach Adam Levine as Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green take a hiatus from the program.

But does Shelton think he could beat the newbies and win three times in a row?

“I don’t think I have a three-peat in me,” he paused. “I KNOW I have a three peat in me.”

“I think winning three of these in a row could be very damaging to Adam Levine’s ego and that’s what I live for,” joked the star.

Watch New Promo for Season 4 of ‘The Voice’

With another season of ‘The Voice‘ on the books, it’s time to pause and reflect, to sit and think for awhile about the singers we loved and all the music they made on their way to capturing a nation’s hearts. Ha ha, just kidding! It’s really time for the first commercial for next season.

And as far as network-sponsored promos go, this one is actually sort of charming — it finds returning mentors Adam Levine and Blake Shelton rolling up to a hotel (in a truck with one of those big red chairs strapped into the bed, natch) to pick up new additions Usher and Shakira. Of course, they all quickly get into a fight over which radio station to listen to, and…well, you’ll see what happens next.

While it doesn’t feature any footage from upcoming episodes, it should at least assuage fans’ fears that the show will lose any of the intra-mentor bickering that all good televised talent shows thrive on — the new-look ‘Voice’ quartet boasts plenty of charisma. Be on the lookout when the show returns for Season 4 on Monday, March, 25, 2013.

‘The Voice’ Winner Cassadee Pope Talks Finale Night: ‘A Lot of Dreams Came True’ (VIDEO)

Season 3 of NBC’s The Voice has come to a close and a winner has been chosen.

Viewers waited patiently as the three finalists performed with their peers and idols during a star studded two-hour finale event. But in the end there could only be one victor and the announcement didn’t come as much of a surprise to fans keeping tabs on the iTunes charts.

Note: Spoilers ahead if you haven’t seen the Season 3 finale of The Voice.

As predicted by many, Cassadee Pope came away victorious on the finale of the reality show. Pope, who charted in multiple spots on the iTunes Top 10 following Monday night’s performances, told Celebuzz she was feeling “pretty damn good” after her big win.

The next two days are sure to be a non-stop whirlwind for the newly crowned Voice champion as she is set to make appearances on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Live! with Kelly and Michael and Today.

One of the best parts of the finale for Pope, was being able to perform with not one but two of her idols: Avril Lavigne and Kelly Clarkson.

“That was crazy,” she said of being able to perform with the stars during the broadcast. “Avril was so sweet. She knew that I’m a huge fan so I think she did a little research before she came. She watched my covers of ‘My Happy Ending’ and ‘I’m With You.’ She said she enjoyed them, which was really cool to hear.”

“Then Kelly Clarkson was the most down to earth, amazing person I’ve ever met,” Pope continued to gush. “She was like giving parts [of ‘Catch My Breath’] to me and Terry [McDermott] we weren’t originally supposed to have. She wanted to give us some more time so that was really cool. Overall, a lot of dreams came true tonight.”

And now that Pope has officially been declared the winner of The Voice, when can we expect to hear some original music from the pop star?

“I’m hoping January,” she said. “I’m going to hit the ground running right now. For Christmas, I’ll kick my feet back but I need to keep working. I need to keep up the momentum, which I’m really excited about, so hopefully January.”

‘The Voice’ Recap: Cassadee Pope Wins Season Three

Cassadee Pope
NBC / YouTube

We’ve waited all season long on ‘The Voice‘ for this night to come, and alas, it has fallen into our laps!

Filled with contestants and musicians a plenty, there were whozits and whatzits galore in tonight’s two hour finale, and the show founds its winner in….. drumroll pleaseCassadee Pope!

If you look at past episodes, you can basically tell the foreshadowing of her big W was so thick, Christina Aguilera‘s blinged out fans would have trouble cutting it.

But they technically all walked away winners, because thanks to the show’s sponsorship by Kia Motors, each of the three contestants walked away with a new car!

Here’s what went down tonight!

  • Rihanna sang her latest song ‘Diamonds.’ Rocking her signature short black hair, it was as if the old Rihanna was back in action with her head on straight, because she gave a pretty spot-on performance, but uh, it was a tad boring.
  • Finalist Terry McDermott performed ‘I Wanna Rock & Roll All Night’ with former contestants Michaela Paige, Amanda Brown, Bryan Keith, and Rudy Parris. It was as high energy as you’d imagine, complete with the killer breakdown at the end. Their voices blended nicely together, and Michaela still has a mohawk.
  • Other finalist Nicholas David performed ‘Cruisin’ with Smokey Robinson, and it was laid back and simple, but believe it or not, neither of their voices truly moved us during this performance, which is odd considering Robinson is such a legend. And it just reminded us of this.
  • The Killers performed ‘Here With Me’ with Pope. The song itself is ballad-rock – that’s not a thing — and as much as we love the band, we were dying for something uptempo to knock us off our butts.
  • newly engaged Kelly Clarkson asked Pope and McDermott to join her on a performance of ‘Catch My Breath.’ As usual, Clarkson sounded just like the album version of the song; seriously, her vocals are so flawless it makes us roll our eyes in pure jealousy.
  • Pope returned to the stage for a rendition of ‘It’s Time’ by Imagine Dragons, and brought along Melanie Martinez, Liz Davis, and De’borah! The girls sounded amazing together and harmonized so well that we actually wished the performance went on longer. And man did we miss us some De’borah!
  • McDermott sang with legendary singer Peter Frampton. The two shared a nice and pretty version of ‘Baby I Love Your Way’ with us.
  • Loren Allred, Jocelyn RiveraDevyn Deloera, Sylvia Yacoub and Adriana Louise all reunited for a performance of ‘Best of My Love,’ which was perfectly entertaining, if not too “pink” — the color, not the singer. Seriously though, all of the groups of former contestants can be turned into a band.
  • Bruno Mars debuted a new song on the show, ‘When I Was Your Man,’ and his voice was as smooth as a baby’s bottom. But he could’ve taken off his sunglasses … it was kind of dark in there.
  • It was Nicholas David’s turn to bring back some of his favorites: Trevin Hunte, Dez Duron and Amanda Brown. The group sang ‘End of the Road’ by Boyz II Men and it was easily the best performance of the night. The electricity between each of them was crazy, and it was clear that this group was a group of close friends formed during the show, as David stated. And we missed hearing Trevin!
  • Pope performed yet again, this time with her hero Avril Lavigne. The duo sang Lavigne’s hit ‘I’m With You’ and sounded nice, but the expression on Pope’s face said it all: the girl was thrilled to be singing with someone she admired so much.
  • The coaches joined forces to sing a rendition of Green Day’s ‘Good Riddance (Time of Your Life),’ most likely to honor Cee Lo and Christina, who will be departing ‘The Voice’ next season, and we were instantly transported back to high school. But the biggest question is why Cee Lo is wearing the same zebra outfit he wore the night before. C’mon now!

Do you agree with Cassadee being crowned the winner of ‘The Voice’ this season?! Make sure you leave us a comment letting us know your thoughts!

‘The Voice’ Finale Results: Season 3′s Winner Is…

The winner has been chosen on Season 3 of NBC’s The Voice.

Contestants Cassadee Pope, Terry McDermott, and Nicholas David duked it out for the winning spot and the associated recording contract. Once again, iTunes played a big role in determining the winner of the reality show, with each download counting 10-fold.

Though a big winner was chosen, there were a ridiculous number of amazing performances on the two hour finale from the likes of Kelly Clarkson, Bruno Mars, Rihanna and The Killers. In addition, the finalists were each able to perform with one of their idols: Cassadee with Avril Lavigne, Terry with Peter Frampton and Nicholas with Smokey Robinson.

But enough of the show, let’s get to it, the winner of Season 3 is….

Note: Spoilers ahead if you haven’t seen the third season finale of The Voice.

Cassadee Pope.

It’s no surprise the pop rock singer won as she was charting with not one but two songs on the iTunes singles chart well into Monday night.  ”I’m feeling amazing, thank you for everyone who voted for me,” she told host Carson Daly after she was declared winner of The Voice. The singer then performed a beautiful rendition of her competition song, Faith Hill’s “Cry.” Pope’s win marks the second time a contestant on Blake Shelton’s team has taken the crown.

Here are our highlights from the episode:

1. The coaches’ attire. Cee Lo Green gets the gold star for best outfit on the finale. Those white spiked football pads were fantastic. Not to be shown up on her birthday, Christina Aguilera also rocked some chains and pearls with her bobbed hair. Meanwhile, we loved Adam Levine’s bowtie… though didn’t he kind of look like a waiter?!

2. “Adam Levine is so much more than a pretty face.” The profile of the multitalented frontman of Maroon 5 was adorable and hilarious. Our favorite comments on Levine from the other coaches: Cee Lo – “I’ve seen this man play the spoons”; Blake – “He’s just incredibly talented and it drives me crazy”; And Christina – “Adam is kind of like that guy in Mary Poppins.”

3. The Heartbreakers take the stage. The male contestants who are easy on the eyes – MacKenzie Bourg, Dez Duron, Cody Belew, Julio Cesar Castillo, and Diego Val – performed Fountains of Wayne’s “Stacey’s Mom.” The set, the singing – it was adorable and ridiculous.

4. Blake Shelton is a big flirt. I’m loving these profiles of the coaches and Blake’s was hilarious. The country superstar “loves everybody” and says he’s very secure in himself. Count on Blake to always tell someone if they’re attractive and to be the funniest coach on the show.

5. Season 4 preview. This preview for next season’s The Voice featuring new coaches Shakira and Usher was hilarious and fantastic. “Total Eclipse Of The Heart” and Carson Daly in the next car over – I can’t wait to see what next season brings us.

6. Kelly Clarkson and Team Blake. I’m not ashamed to admit I love Clarkson. It was exciting to watch Cassadee perform with one of her idols. You could see how happy it made her to share the stage with Clarkson. And while Terry sounded a little under the weather during the performance, I enjoyed his part on “Catch My Breath” as well.

7. “Well, Scoobs, obviously.” Xtina’s declaration of love for Scooby Doo and her impression of the cartoon character during her birthday message was hilarious. Also, NBC gets extra points for adding the Muppets. Muppets make everything amazing.

8. Santa Cee Lo and product placement. Each of the finalists were rewarded with a Kia car. The finalists were understandably excited by their prizes, but this whole segment was just insane and so funny. I’m going to really miss Cee Lo on the next season.

9. Nicholas brings back Amanda, Dez and Trevin for “End Of The Road.” This song took me all the way back to the sixth grade. I absolutely adore Boyz II Men and this song. Nicholas brought back the perfect contestants to bring the song to life and sounded fantastic during the performance.

10. Cee Lo’s clip package. Of course, we had to put Cee Lo’s clip package on the highlights. Adam referred to him as a combination between “Buddha and Issac Hayes.” Though our favorite part of the package was Cee Lo telling Christina he is also “a genie in a bottle,” but “a three liter bottle.”

‘The Voice’s’ Terry McDermott Is Glad His Dad Can ‘Catch Up on This Chapter’ of His Life (VIDEO)

Rocker Terry McDermott has had quite the ride on NBC’s The Voice. The singer from Scotland rocked the stage Monday night with his performances, including a killer duet with coach Blake Shelton on Aerosmith’s “Dude Looks Like A Lady” featuring a disguised and shirtless Adam Levine on guitar.

“Even in rehearsals we knew it was going to be a fun one,” McDermott told reporters of the performance after the show. “Every time we rehearsed it, we were falling around laughing just from the sheer stupidity of what we were doing on the stage. It was a great fun way to kind of poke fun at ourselves and have a good laugh. “

The singer also revealed that Monday’s live performance of the number was the first time Levine had performed with them sans shirt.

“You know what the funny thing is actually,” he said. “Apparently some people on the show had to tweet that it was Adam because some people were like ‘Hey, who’s this shirtless guitar guy? and it was like, ‘No, it’s Adam Levine.’ But it was a really nice way to kind of celebrate the end of the show and I know that I’ll remember [that performance] for a long time.”

The 35-year-old added that the duet was “great energy and a nice way to balance out the heavier side of  [his other two performances] ‘I Want to Know What Love Is’ and ‘Broken Wings.’”

As his breakout song, McDermott chose to sing Foreigner’s “I Want To Know What Love Is,” telling reporters he’d like the song to be remembered as his finest moment on the talent show.

“I wouldn’t have imagined it connecting the way it did, but the way it was stripped down reminded me a lot of the music, the original music I did with my band in Scotland,” the father said. “It reminded me of that feeling of being on stage, pouring your heart out. So, I think that connection reminded me I need to get back to the music and I would hope that was strong enough that people remember it.”

In addition to his performances, McDermott was again surprised by Shelton with a family member from across the pond – his father.

“It [was a] wonderful surprise. I hadn’t seen my dad in four years,” he revealed. “He has to watch from afar being back in the UK, so the fact that he could come over and participate is great. The last time he was here was when he came to see me with my band play The Viper Room after we’d signed the record label so it’s nice to for him to kind of catch up on this chapter.”

McDermott then joked, “Although I did say to him, partly I have to have a record deal or be on a TV show for him to come see me in L.A., so I said we have to kind of stop that. You have to love me all the time.”

The two-hour Season 3 finale of The Voice airs Tuesday at 9 PM on NBC with a 60-minute recap at 8 PM.

‘The Voice’ Finale: Who Should Be Crowned the Winner? (VIDEO & POLL)

After a nationwide search, blind auditions, fierce battle rounds and nail-biting live shows, NBC’s The Voice is just hours from crowning its Season 3 winner.

With Christina Aguilera and Adam Levines teams out of the competition, the final three comes down to Blake Shelton‘s Cassadee Pope and Terry McDermott and Cee Lo Green‘s Nicholas David awaiting their fate Tuesday night.

So who should win?

Pope has been a frontrunner throughout the competition. With her powerhouse voice — and last season’s winning coach — backing her up, the West Palm Beach native is destined for superstardom as she’s previously landed a deal with Pete Wentz‘s Decaydance Records with her pop punk band, Hey Monday.

‘The Voice’ Pays Tribute to Connecticut Shooting Victims With ‘Hallelujah’

Last night’s (Dec. 17) episode of ‘The Voice‘ opened with each coach and many of the contestants from Season 3 singing ‘Hallelujah’ while holding cards with the names and ages of the students whose lives were tragically cut short last week during the shooting rampage which took place in Newtown, Ct. Most of the victims were single-digit in age, making it all the more heartbreaking.

Candles were placed at the edge of the stage, marking a somber, touching tribute to lives of innocents that were senselessly wiped out.

It is nearly impossible to hold back tears as Blake Shelton, Adam Levine, Cee Lo Green and Christina Aguilera sang each part of the song.

The performance showed the redemptive and healing power of music, which can provide some comfort, solace and support in the hardest of times. Like right now, as the nation mourns and the families of the victims try to put their lives back together.

Well done, NBC and ‘The Voice. Well done.

Ke$ha’s “Die Young” Drops From Radio Rotation After Sandy Hook Tragedy

RCA

RCA

While Ke$ha‘s “Die Young” single has served the singer well since its release in November 2012, garnering over 22 million hits on YouTube and claiming one of the top five spots on the Billboard ‘Hot 100′ list, the Warrior track is now experiencing a drastic change in its airplay.

In the wake of the tragic Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Newtown, Connecticut that left 26 innocent children and adults dead, the song’s plummeted from 167 million listeners nationwide on Friday (the day of the massacre) to 148 million million listeners during Monday’s count; a 19 million listener drop. Prior to the devastation, “Die Young” was said to have had a “pretty steady” rotation, leading experts to believe that there’s a correlation between the two events. According to TMZ, “[A] drop of this magnitude is extremely rare. The last time a song plummeted this quickly is when the Dixie Chicks were banned from country radio… after insulting President Bush.”

Meanwhile, in related news, on last night’s episode of The Voice, the show’s mentors, including Christina Aguilera and Adam Levine, as well as the contestants gathered together to perform “Hallelujah” during a candlelight vigil in honor of those who were lost in the tragedy. And, in tribute, each of the singers held up a card with the name of one of the victims.

“It’s okay if you’re still struggling with Friday’s tragedy.” Those are the words streaming across this Huffington Post Teen forum for those who are left shaken in the aftermath. We encourage you to watch the video below, then join the discussion.
