Katie Holmes Bonds With Daughter Suri Cruise at Whole Foods in New York

Katie Holmes and Suri Cruise snuck in a little mother-daughter bonding time Tuesday evening while shopping at Whole Foods in Manhattan.

Celebuzz spotted the 34-year-old actress inside the franchise’s Chelsea location, where she shopped for food while Suri sat in the front seat of her cart.

Despite her uber-famous status, a makeup-free Holmes blended in perfectly with the crowd, and spent much of her trip doting on her adorable six-year-old daughter.

At one point, Holmes — who donned a light winter coat and had her hair pulled up in the back — was seen giving Suri a big hug near the deli, before the mother-daughter duo, photographed here on Jan. 3, headed to the checkout line.

Holmes, who divorced Suri’s father, Tom Cruise, over the summer, recently wrapped production on the Broadway play Dead Accounts, which closed in early January due to poor ticket sales.

The Chelsea Whole Foods is often a hot-spot for celebrity sightings. Recent sightings include Stephanie March, the wife of chef Bobby Flay and former star of Law and Order: Special Victims Unit.

Suri Cruise found herself dead-center in a sea of paparazzi on Thursday — and, naturally, she wasn’t happy about it.

Cameras caught the six-year-old daughter of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes screaming and crying as she and her mother tried to make their way to to the Music Box Theater, where Holmes is currently starring in the Broadway production of Dead Accounts.

Holmes did her best to shield Cruise from the flashing cameras; however the noise and commotion was more than enough to leave Cruise visibly shaken and perturbed.

Cruise, of course, has been photographed and documented to an obnoxious degree for the majority of her life — but have the paparazzi finally gone too far? Have a look through the gallery, above, then share your thoughts in the comments, below.

Dead Accounts premiered to mixed reviews in November. It is set to close on Sun., Jan. 6, due to low ticket sales.

The role marked Holmes’ first professional gig since her divorce from Cruise was finalized in August.

They were married for five-and-a-half years.

Suri Cruise Isn’t Getting a $24,000 Playhouse For Christmas

The presents underneath the Christmas tree are bound to be lavish and aplenty for Suri Cruise, but there’s one gift that Santa Claus won’t be bringing the famous tot this year — a larger-than-life Victorian playhouse, Celebuzz has learned.

While numerous reports claim her Broadway star mom Katie Holmes, 33, had purchased a Grand Victorian Luxury Playhouse — with an equally impressive price tag of $24,000 – Stacy Evrard, owner of Sweet Retreat Kids, told Celebuzz that’s simply not the case this holiday season.

“We have not sold this playhouse to Katie Holmes,” she said.

The mini mansion for Holmes’ mini me would have been perfect for the pampered 6-year-old, coming complete with running water and electricity, recessed lighting, play lofts, sunrooms, media rooms, kitchens, dining rooms, cathedral ceilings, and even intercoms connected to the main home.

Although the famous mommy-daughter duo are not Evrard’s customers, one gift Suri can expect from St. Nick is some quality family time with her dad and siblings. As Celebuzz previously reported, the six-year-old will be spending the holidays with her father Tom Cruise, 50, and half siblings Bella Cruise, 20, and Connor Cruise, 17.

The superstar actor’s youngest daughter has obviously been a good littl girl this year, as Cruise revealed at the London premiere of his latest flick Jack Reacher that he’s “got lots of very special things planned (for the holidays)” with his loved ones.

“We are all going to be together — I am looking forward to it,” he said.

Do you think this pricey playhouse is perfect for Suri? Weigh in below.

Tom Cruise Says He’s ‘Looking Forward’ to Spending the Holidays With His Family

Single superstar Tom Cruise has given his first interview since splitting with Katie Holmes and says he’s looking forward to Christmas surrounded by his loved ones.

The 50-year-old Mission Impossible star seems to have put the heartbreak of his divorce behind him as he concentrates on celebrating the festive season with his family.

“We have got lots of very special things planned (for the holidays),” Cruise revealed to reporters at the London premiere of his latest flick, Jack Reacher.

The father-of-three plans to put his hectic filming schedule on hold to spend time with children Bella Cruise, 20, Connor Cruise, 17, and Suri Cruise, 6, according to PEOPLE.

“We are all going to be together — I am looking forward to it,” he added.

Cruise is currently filming in London as he shoots the action sci-fi film All You Need Is Kill and the British capital is quickly becoming his home away from home.

“I love it here. I have made so many films here and I have worked with so many of the actors here. It is a wonderful place to live,” he said.

“I am shooting a film over here … seven days a week. But I feel great. It doesn’t take up all my time, but I have a very busy schedule and I like it that way.”

Cruise, who’s been married three times, and Holmes finalized their divorce in August after five years together.

Holmes, 33, sent shockwaves through Hollywood when she filed for divorce in June, with many insiders claiming that Cruise’s Scientology beliefs were a major factor in the end of their marriage.

But the pair have managed to remain on civil terms continuing to communicate for the sake of their little girl who lives in New York with her mother, who’s also starring on Broadway in Dead Accounts.

As part of the divorce settlement Cruise gets liberal visitation and travel arrangements so that he can spend time with his youngest daughter.

Tom Cruise and Daughter Suri Reunited for Thanksgiving in London – The Pair’s Many Daddy-and-Me Moments (GALLERY)

Katie Holmes may have been back home in Ohio for the holidays — and her sister’s “sausage stuffing” — but her daughter Suri was across the pond in London spending Thanksgiving with her dad Tom Cruise.

It looks like the movie star has a lot to be thankful for this holiday. After more than three months apart, Suri reportedly reunited with Cruise on Tuesday, reports The Huffington Post. The actor is currently filming the sci-fi action film All You Need Is Kill in the U.K.

But the six-year-old isn’t Cruise’s only holiday blessing. His two other children, Conner and Isabella Cruise, from his previous marriage to Nicole Kidman, joined their father and half-sister Suri for the Thanksgiving festivities.

The father-daughter pair were last spotted together at a water park in early August, one month after Holmes filed for divorce. However, despite tabloid rumors, People reports Cruise and Holmes are continuing to try to work things out amicably.

Suri is currently living with her mom in New York City, where she is in previews for her return to Broadway in the new play “Dead Accounts,” which opens November 29.

“We have Thursday off, so I’m going to have a chance to go home with my family,” Holmes told Kelly Ripa and Michael Strahan on Live! With Michael and Kelly last week. “My sister makes a really good sausage stuffing and my mom makes a great turkey.”

Katie Holmes and Suri Cruise Enjoy Afternoon Stroll in Manhattan (PHOTOS)

Looks like Suri Cruise really loved her latest mommy-and-me day in New York City.

On Sunday, the 6-year-old and her famous mother, Katie Holmes, were spotted taking an afternoon stroll around town.

The young fashionista donned a purple cardigan, print dress and matching purple tights while Holmes stayed comfy in a grey sweater and long black skirt.

Holmes recently visited Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and dished on the possibility of a Dawson’s Creek reunion.

“I love everyone from the show . . . we have kind of talked about it here and there. But we’re like, ‘What do you do?’ Because [in] our last episode, Michelle [Williams’] character passed away,” she told Fallon.

“I don’t know . . . maybe we’ll go on vacation.”

Holmes is currently starring in previews of the new Broadway play Dead Accounts. The play opens Nov. 29.

Tom Cruise’s $50M Defamation Suit Over Suri Abandonment Claim: What Are His Chances of Winning? (INSIDE STORY)

Criticize his acting career, his love life, or even his role in controversial religion Scientology. But don’t pan Tom Cruise‘s parenting skills.

Cruise filed a defamation suit against Bauer Publishing Company, demanding $50 million in damages over cover stories — printed by the corporation’s Life & Style and In Touch celebrity tabloids — that claim he “abandoned” his six-year-old daughter, Suri.

The case, filed in the United States District Court for the Central District of California in Los Angeles, centers on two covers that included images Cruise’s daughter: a July 31 issue of Life & Style with the words “Suri In Tears, Abandoned by Her Dad” splashed across it; and a Oct. 1 issue of In Touch that read, “Abandoned by Daddy.”

“Tom is a caring father who dearly loves Suri,” Cruise’s attorney Bert Fields said in a statement after the filing. “To say he has ‘abandoned’ her is a vicious lie. To say it in lurid headlines with a tearful picture of Suri is reprehensible.”

But if the case heads to court, a win won’t be easy for Cruise — at least in part because of his A-list status.

“The defamation laws are different as to individuals and celebrities [because] there’s a higher legal standard that’s in place … for public figures or celebrities,” Stuart Slotnick, business litigation partner at national law firm Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney, told Celebuzz.

Cruise would have to “prove that the publisher acted with intentional malice — otherwise known as constitutional malice — which [means] it was intentionally meant to hurt him and to damage him,” Slotnick said.

If Cruise’s legal team can prove the publisher acted with intentional malice, then they have to make a case for damages.

“He needs to specify what damages there have been to him and…he would need to bring in actual proof that the damages [were] a result of these publications,” explained Slotnick. “For example, if he says, ‘I had a deal in place and I was going to make $15 million to make a movie. But as soon as the articles came out, I was told we can’t hire you because you abandoned your daughter.’ [That would be] directly linked to his damages. [But] it’s unlikely that he would be able to prove damages of $50 million or anything close to that.”

Cruise’s reputation would likely come into play for such proceedings. “If someone has a bad reputation, it’s harder to prove damages because it’s harder to defame someone with a bad reputation,” added Slotnick, who is the Managing Partner of Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney’s New York City office.

But regardless if Cruise is viewed positively or negatively, his Hollywood notoriety won’t help his case in court. “Seeing that he’s one of the A-list celebrities in this country and in the world,” adds Slotnick, defamation “may be difficult to prove at trial.”

But Slotnick suggested Cruise isn’t actually after an award of $50 million (In fact, his lawyer has said any money recovered from the lawsuit will be donated to charity). Instead, Cruise is hoping this case will broadcast a message to the media. “Tom Cruise is clearly not starting litigation for money,” he said. “It’s a deterrent to other publications from focusing on him and gossip-like statements. [He] trying to send a message to tabloids that if they invade his personal space and they cross a line, that they’re going to get sued.”
