Ryan Seacrest Talks About Kim Kardashian’s Pregnancy with Jay Leno: ‘I Was Thrilled!’ (VIDEO)

With good pal Kim Kardashian‘s baby on the way, Ryan Seacrest has plenty to be excited about.

During an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, the American Idol host — and executive producer of Keeping Up with the Kardashians — couldn’t help but express his joy, weeks after Kardashian announced she and beau Kanye West are expecting their first child together.

“I was thrilled,” he revealed Thursday evening. “I was very happy for them.”

Cameras will continue to roll during Kardashian’s pregnancy for the upcoming season of the E! reality show, but don’t expect Seacrest to make an appearance in the delivery room.

“Now, are you in there with the obstetrician?” Leno inquired.

“Am I going to be in the room, with the zoom lens, shooting all of this to put on the air on E!?” Seacrest responded. “I would not.”

And although she’s opened her life to viewers on the reality show, the expectant mom isn’t planning to document her entire path to motherhood.

“You will see her pregnancy on Keeping Up With the Kardashians,” he added, “but she’ll be about four and a half months in to her pregnancy once we start shooting for next season.”

After all the baby talk, Seacrest and his Idol colleagues, Keith Urban and Randy Jackson, weighed in the upcoming 12th season premiere, and of course, the heated feud between Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey.

“It’s a happy, dysfunctional family,” Jackson explained.

Meanwhile, Seacrest alluded to the singer’s blunt personalities. “These two ladies are not stars in their own right because they’re shy, so you’ll see how not shy they are this season,” he added.

As for Urban, he went straight for the diplomatic response: “It’s raw. The reason why the four of us, I think, are chosen is because we’re very, very different and we disagree on things, we like different things. But the plus side is that, if the four of us unanimously agree on you, it’s a magical moment, too.”

American Idol premieres on Fox on Jan. 16.

‘American Idol’ Judges Explain What They’re Looking For

American Idol Season 12 Ryan Seacrest and Judges Mariah Carey, Keith Urban, Nicki Minaj and Randy Jackson New 'American Idol' Judges Shoot New York Auditions: Cast photo New 'American Idol' Judges Shoot New York Auditions: Nicki Minaj New 'American Idol' Judges Shoot New York Auditions: Keith Urban New 'American Idol' Judges Shoot New York Auditions: Mariah Carey New 'American Idol' Judges Shoot New York Auditions: Ryan Seacrest New 'American Idol' Judges Shoot New York Auditions: Randy Jackson

FOX’s upcoming twelfth season of American Idol is sure to draw some curiosity with three new superstar judges whose backgrounds couldn’t be more different.

“It will be quite fun as you watch their different styles of judging and what they’re looking for,” executive producer Nigel Lythgoe, 63, told the audience during Wednesday’s premiere screening event in Los Angeles.

Mariah [Carey], I think, is looking for that singer/songwriter, that’s a true star, Nicki Minaj is looking for somebody that isn’t just there for their voice, but there for their performance, their charisma and everything else. Keith Urban is looking for an authentic singer, someone who is credible. Randy Jackson, I’d say, is looking for someone who sings on pitch,” he continued.

Their backgrounds couldn’t be more diverse. Jackson, 56, the veteran Idol judge has been with the show since its debut season more than a decade ago. Carey is a power vocalist and arguably one of the most celebrated voices of our time. Thirty-year-old Minaj is a relatively new celebrity (compared to Carey). She’s a rapper and pop princess who likes to employ several personalities, sometimes simultaneously. And Urban is an Australian country singer. Each has different styles, different perspectives, and different ideas on what they’re looking for from this year’s hopefuls.

Jackson seems pretty confident about his formula for finding the right contestants. “There are three things that are really big characteristics for me,” the musician said. “They are uniqueness, unbelievable talent, and star power. Those are the three things a great artist needs and will give you a shot at a great career.”

On the other hand, Urban is a bit more emotional about what he’s looking for in contestants. “The reality is that we all react differently to different things and so I think for me, at the end of the day, it has to speak to me,” he said.

“If a person is creating art and saying something in a way that I’m captivated by that person and I can’t take my eyes off that person, that’s it for me.”

Minaj confirmed Lythgoe’s assertion that she’s looking for an all-around entertainer more than a standout vocalist saying, “I think that it’s something where you’ll know it when you’re in the same room with it.

“If you named the 10 biggest stars out right now, who would you say has a Whitney Houston voice? That’s just not where we are right now,” the hip-hop artist elaborated. “So, I think that because of this day and time, I’m looking for an overall entertainer. [I’m looking for] someone who is going to captivate people with or without music.”

Carey, 42, says she’s still learning what she wants in a contestant. And so far, her choices have spanned from favoring street performers to strong vocalists.

“To me it doesn’t matter, “ she said. “They can be unique in some way, different in another way. It’s a learning experience for me and what I’ve seen is that diversity plays into it in a deep way.”

American Idol returns to FOX on Wednesday at 8PM.

This Week in Celebrity Twitpics (PHOTOS)

It’s a new year and that means it’s time for a new gallery of Celebrity Twitpics! This week, stars like Jessica Alba, Snooki and Kim Kardashian partied hard to ring in 2013.

Alba had a fun night out on the town sans kids with her husband, Cash Warren and a few friends. The group went to dinner and watched fireworks while counting down until midnight.

Before the announcement of her baby bump, Kardashian hit Las Vegas for a New Year’s party with her closest friends. Her beau Kanye West was in attendance as was her best friend Brittny Gastineau, with whom she posted a Twitpic with.

Taking his post as head host of Dick Clark’s Rockin’ New Years Eve TV special, Ryan Seacrest led the night by introducing plenty of performances by Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber and “Gangnam Style” singer, Psy. Seacrest posted a Twitpic of himself with Psy, who was also celebrating a birthday that night.

Also taking a hosting job, Jersey Shore’s Snooki hosted the MTV New Year’s special with co-star Jenny “JWoww“ Farley. The BFFs kept the jokes going all night, long after the ball drop. Snooki posted a funny Twitpic of the two about to go on air with the caption, “Babies do the boobies good! LOL.”

Opting for a more relaxed New Year’s, Ashley Tisdale hit the slopes of Mammoth Mountain with some friends to ring in the new year snowboarding, while Glee’s Lea Michele spent a relaxing vacation in Hawaii with her boyfriend and co-star, Cory Monteith.

Ryan Seacrest and Julianne Hough Relax on the Beach in St. Bart’s (PHOTOS)

Ryan Seacrest – arguably the busiest man in show business — actually managed to sneak in a little R&R this week in St. Bart’s, where he and girlfriend Julianne Hough enjoyed some well-deserved fun in the sun.

The happy lovebirds were photographed Wednesday paddle-boarding and playing around in the ocean. Hough, 24, showed off her killer bod in a white bikini, while her 38-year-old beau — who hosted ABC’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve on Monday and Tuesday — showed off his own (admittedly impressive) beach body in blue swim trunks.

See photos from their beach day in the gallery, above.

Hough’s beach day makes for a much lighter headline than the ones she made earlier this week after admitting to being abused as a child.

“I was abused, mentally, physically, everything,” the former Dancing With the Stars beauty told Cosmopolitan in its February issue.

According to Hough, the abuse took place at London’s prestigious Italia Conti Academy of Arts, where she was sent at the age of 10 to study dance.

“I was 10 years old looking like I was 28, being a very sensual dancer,” she said. “I was a tormented little kid who had to put on this sexy facade because that was my job and my life. But my heart was the same, and I was this innocent little girl.”

On a lighter note, Hough saved room to talk about her relationship with Seacrest, whom she began dating in 2010.

“We love what we do. We take pride in giving it our all, but then when we’re alone, we really focus in on going to dinners and being extra-romantic and affectionate and just being there for each other,” she said.

Hough, who last year co-starred in the much-hyped remake of Footloose, returns to the big screen on Feb. 14 in Safe Haven, opposite Josh Duhamel.

Seacrest, meanwhile, returns as host of ‘American Idol’ season 12 on Jan. 16.

‘Dancing With the Stars’ Pro Derek Hough Reveals ‘Pretty Mellow’ Holiday Plans With Ryan Seacrest (VIDEO)

Dancing With the Stars pro Derek Hough and American Idol host Ryan Seacrest are no strangers to stiff competition, even so off-camera.

According to Derek, whose sister Julianne Hough is currently dating the media mogul, they like to keep their game faces on — especially during the holidays.

So what’s on the Christmas party plan for his family?

It’s all about game night.

“Catch Phrase. It’s a good game,” Derek said of his family’s holiday tradition, “I’m just laying it out there, if you don’t know what Catch Phrase is, it’s the best game. I love it!”

“We are like pretty mellow,” Derek told Celebuzz at the Trevor Live event in West Hollywood.

“I’m looking forward to going in the snow: snowmobiling and snowboarding and all those wonderful things,” he continued.

“It’s funny, I saw Ryan last night and he was like, ‘Oh, we got you back! We got you back, man!’ Because you’re in a bubble for like three months.”

Now that the 27-year-old has wrapped the latest season of Dancing With the Stars: All-Stars, coming in second place behind winners Melissa Rycroft and Tony Dovolani, there are no hard feelings.

“When you don’t hear your name being called out, it kind of stings for a second,” he said of the loss. “But saying that, it couldn’t have happened to nicer people and more deserving.”

“It was amazing. Probably one of my favorite seasons. [My partner] Shawn Johnson was just incredible. She was fantastic…I’m very, very proud of that season. It’s one of those seasons where it kind of re-inspired me about the show.”

Even with some well-deserved time off for the holidays, Derek won’t be able kick his feet up off the dance floor just yet.

“I can’t relax,” he said, laughing. “I tried the other day like sitting at home and I was like, ‘Ugh, I got to go!’”

Happy Birthday, Ryan Seacrest! See the ‘American Idol’ Host’s Rise To Success (GALLERY)

Does the busiest man in Hollywood even have time to celebrate his birthday?

Ryan Seacrest is turning 38 on Monday, and he’s still filling his plate with project after project. Among his accomplishments, Seacreast is a radio personality, the host of American Idol, a wildly successful TV producer and the new Dick Clark.

But he wasn’t always sitting on top of Tinseltown’s pedestal — he climbed the ladder of success step-by-step…at a record pace, of course.

Before he landed his breakout gig on American Idol, Seacrest hosted ESPN’s Radical Outdoor Challenge, plus two kids’ game shows: Gladiators 2000 and Click.  He even made a cameo appearance on the original Beverly Hills 90210 as the host of the fictional game show Lover’s Lane.

But it wasn’t until 2002 that he landed the hosting job that would change his career for, well, forever. American Idol put Seacrest in the national spotlight, and he didn’t plan on leaving anytime soon. After the success of Season 1, he became the singing competition’s sole host after his cohort, comedian Brian Dunkleman, was dropped from the show. Now, 12 seasons later, Seacrest is the highest-paid reality television host in history. In fact, he recently signed a $30 million deal to continue his Idol hosting duties.

Yet that’s only the tip of the Seacrest-success iceberg. The star rang in 2004 as the new host of the hit radio program American Top 40.  A month later, he picked up another project: On Air With Ryan Seacrest. Today, he’s the host and executive producer of the national syndicated daily radio show.

But the crowning moment of Seacrest’s career came in 2005 when it was announced that he would become the executive producer and co-host of Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve.  After rocking, literally, the New Year’s spectacular for four years, the program was officially renamed to Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rocking Eve With Ryan Seacrest to reflect his role in the show. And on top of it all,  he still finds time to hit the beach with girlfriend and former hoofer on Dancing With the StarsJulianne Hough

Seacrest didn’t stop there, though — he continued to climb the ladder of success, taking on more and more projects. In 2006, he signed a three-year contract with E! to host and produce several programs, including E! Newsand its red carpet award show coverage.

That same year, he launched his production company, Ryan Seacrest Products, which produces the hit series Keeping Up with the Kardashians, its three spin-offs (Khloe and Lamar, Kourtney and Kim Take New York, and Kourtney and Khloe Take Miami), and the new hit reality series, Shahs of Sunset.

With all this on his plate, and way more to come, our only question is, when does he find time to sleep?

To celebrate Seacrest’s big 3-8, we’re looking back at his rise to super-stardom.  Click through our gallery to see Seacrest grow from American Idol host to TV personality king.

Julianne Hough Shows Off Her Bikini Bod With Beau Ryan Seacrest in Mexico (PHOTOS)

Julianne Hough isn’t letting her Thanksgiving turkey weigh her down — literally!

The starlet looked toned and fit in a blue floral bikini as she strolled the beach hand-in-hand with beau Ryan Seacrest in San Lucas, Mexico on Saturday.

From the look of these seaside photographs, Hough’s bikini body was unaffected by the the couple’s delicious Thanksgiving dinner.  Meanwhile, the American Idol host kept his beach bod under wraps with a hat, shirt and shorts. The couple were also joined by their cocker spaniel pup Lexi.

Hough is gearing up for the release of her lastest film Safe Haven, which is set to hit theaters in February 2013. From the author of The Notebook, Safe Haven tells the story of a mysterious young woman (Hough) who arrives in a small North Carolina town and reluctantly joins the tight-knit community.

Slowly, she begins opening up to the people around her, namely Alex (Josh Duhamel), a widowed store owner with two young children. The two ultimately fall in love, but when Katie’s past comes back to haunt her, she has to make a tough choice: run away from her demons, or stay and fight them off with Alex?

As for Seacrest, with American Idol starting in January, he’ll have his hands full trying to keep the peace between new judges Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj at the judges’ table.

Ke$ha Speaks Out on ‘Having Sex With A Ghost’: ‘It Did Scare Me… But That’s Part Of The Fun Of It’

Ke$ha was scared of the ghost she had sex with.

The ‘Die Young’ singer revealed in September that she had had a sexual encounter with a strange spirit. “I had a couple of experiences with the supernatural. I don’t know his name! He was a ghost! I’m very open to it,” she told Ryan Seacrest on his KIIS FM radio show.

Now, the 25-year-old singer is elaborating on her supposed out-of-this-world experience and has admitted the scariness of the situation turned her on.

She said: “I’ve got a song called ‘Supernatural’, that song was about having sex with a ghost. I lived in this flop house at Rural Canyon and there was this weird energy that lived there, and it used to keep me at night and wake me up. And it progressed into this dark, sexual spirit.

“It did scare me but that’s part of the fun of it.”

While it the situation scared her, the eccentric star said she very much believes in ghosts and loves to learn about anything in another world and is fascinating by the spirits out there.

She told BANG Showbiz: “I’m very open to that whole side of the universe. I’m very much into it. I believe in it. I believe in anything supernatural, I’m open to believing in.”

In an interview with The Huffington Post, a paranormal expert expressed skepticism about Ke$ha’s alleged haunted humpings.

Though there have been reports of people having sex with ghosts, according to Eric Olsen, who co-hosts America’s Most Haunted, an online radio show, unless you can observe the ghost, you can’t differentiate between what was just a vivid dream or an actual encounter.

“There is a tradition of entities known as ‘succubus’ and ‘incubus,’ which are malevolent spirits and their whole modus operandi is to seduce human victims and, in the process of consummating, steal or possess the victim’s soul,” Olsen said.

“There is a question as to what kind of visitation can you have while asleep.”

Madonna Goes ‘Gangnam Style’ With Psy: 10 Celebrities Who’ve Joined the Dance Craze (GALLERY)

Britney Spears did with Ellen DeGeneres. Carrie Underwood did it on the CMA Award stage. Hugh Jackman even did it wearing Wolverine claws.

Now, Madonna has hopped on the bandwagon — breaking out into the iconic dance inspired Korean pop sensation Psy‘s “Gangnam Style.” During her Tuesday night MDNA tour concert in New York City, the Material Girl teamed up with the South Korean singer for a three-song set.

“I have a little surprise for you,” Madge told the 20,000-strong cheering crowd at Madison Square Garden. “A song that I’ve sung for a while,” she said before the first few highly-recognizable chords of Psy’s chart-topping hit played. As she sung the lyrics to a remixed “Give It To Me,” Psy appeared on stage and yelled into the mic, “Are you ready NYC?”

Wearing a crisp red suit and sunglasses, Psy led Madonna and her bevy of backup dancers in his side-stepping horse dance, which shot to worldwide fame from his viral YouTube video, currently at over 720 million likes. Along with “Gangnam Style” and “Give It To Me,” the duo performed Madonna’s hit “Music.”

This isn’t the first time Psy — whose real name is Jae-Sang Park — has schooled a star in his self-described “dress classy, dance cheesy” moves. In September, Ellen DeGeneres invited Psy to her daytime talker to teach Britney Spears how to do the so-called invisible horse dance.

The following month, he popped up on the Sydney set of Wolverine, where he helped Hugh Jackman cut a rug. And just two weeks ago, Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley channel Psy’s smooth moves as they hosted the 2012 CMA Awards.

Find out what other celebrities joined the “Gangnam Style” craze – above.
