The Golden Globes never fails to bring some of the most memorable fashion moments of the year. And after all the amazing looks we saw at the People’s Choice Awards and Critics’ Choice Awards this week, we can’t wait to see what Sunday night’s red carpet brings.

Aside from the Oscars, the Golden Globes is the biggest red carpet fashion event of the awards season and it happens relatively early in the season, offering Hollywood’s biggest stars a chance to establish themselves as one’s to watch.

While the Golden Globes and Academy Awards tend to share an equally fancy dress code, there’s a little less pressure to knock it out of the park at the Globes.

Unlike the Oscars, where the fear of a faux pas can be enough to derail even the most adventurous risk-taker, the show can be a chance for stars to play it a little less safe and to try some more fashion-forward and out-of-the-box looks.

So as we continue our countdown to the 2013 Golden Globe Awards on Sunday night, we’re keeping busy by reminiscing over the amazing Globes’ fashion we’ve seen over the years.

Check out our round-up of the Golden Globe’s most gorgeous gowns of all time.

Each year the Golden Globes brings on a sea of new looks. While the focus may be on the fashion when it comes to the pre-show festivities, it’s the hair and makeup that makes all the difference.

Stunning hair and makeup can turn a just eh dress into a statement-maker and sometimes even save a questionable fashion choice. Meanwhile, the wrong hair and makeup can overshadow even the most gorgeous gown.

And for those of us who don’t have many (or any) occasions to don dramatic evening-gowns, the beauty trends are often the most translatable red carpet trends to real life.

That’s why we’re just as excited to see the latest hair, makeup and nail trends that emerge from Sunday night’s red carpet.

We’ll be here covering the pre-show extravaganza — including all the red carpet’s best beauty looks (and the inevitable misses). But as we countdown to the main event, we’re taking a look back at some of the Golden Globes’ most memorable looks over the years.

Fact is, the Golden Globes are simply another opportunity for stars to play a character — only, unlike the roles that so often win them the globe, this is their chance to play the most gorgeous characters of their choosing.

So it’s no surprise that the past is often a source of inspiration for some of the red carpet’s most memorable looks. There was the old-Hollywood glamour that January Jones channeled, with her platinum ’20s-inspired locks and crimson lips in 2011, and Beyonce’s 2007 disco throwback, with ultra-long, ultra-straight locks and big brows.

That same year, British beauty, Sienna Miller went way old-school, turning to Ancient Greece for inspiration and pioneering wraparound braids on the red carpet.

And let’s not forget the innocent look of Miley Cyrus in 2009, donning long, wavy curls and sweet pink glossy lips. It’s hard to imagine it was the same girl now rocking a bleached-blonde punk-rock ‘do.

From the elegant updos and big bouffants to the dramatic eyes and statement pouts, celebs never fail to bring the bold beauty at the Golden Globes.

Here’s a look back at our favorite beauty moments from the Golden Globes over the years.

It’s one fashion-filled week! After Hollywood kicked off the 2013 red carpet season with the People’s Choice Awards on Wednesday, the red carpet was rolled out yet again for the Critics Choice Awards last night.

While celebs went flirty and fun for their fans at the PCA’s, they went eclectic and elegant for their critics, as we were treated to another promising prelude to one of the biggest events of the season — Sunday night’s Golden Globes.

For some of this year’s biggest stars, including Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain and Amanda Seyfried, tonight marked their first big red carpet appearance of the season. Also making their awards season debut were some of the red carpet’s best-dressed regulars — Emily Blunt, Amy Adams and Marion Cotillard.

Like the performances that were recognized, the fashion at the Critics Choice Awards pushed the boundaries to offer something fresh and creative.

Eschewing the expected, last night’s best-dressed winners stepped outside their usual red carpet style zone with both their dresses and their hair and makeup. And they were rewarded for their courage with a best-dressed nod and a confidence boost to carry them into the next red carpet round.

Check out who made our list of the best-dressed stars at the 2013 Critics Choice Awards.

Hollywood’s biggest stars kicked off the 2013 Awards Show Season in style, donning an eclectic array of fresh and fun looks to tonight’s People’s Choice Awards.

If tonight was a preview of the fashion to come this awards season, we’re in for a sartorial treat. As diverse as it was stylish, the red carpet was full of fresh fashion eye candy.

From bright and bold to simple and sophisticated, subtly sexy to serious sparkle, refined romance to modern minimalism,we’re rounding up all the red carpet’s most buzz-worthy fashion.

There were plenty of style surprises but none more stunning than Taylor Swift‘s sparkle- and- pastel-free ensemble. We couldn’t have imagined a better revenge look than stunning white Ralph Lauren gown that the newly-single star donned. The curve-skimming silhouette topped off with the plunging neckline cast the singer in a sexy new light that screamed, “Eat your heart out, Harry Styles!

Olivia Munn and Julianne Hough also switched up their style, opting for ladylike over sexy or edgy. Also toning it down after a series of overly-revealing red carpet looks: Heidi Klum, who wowed in a black-and-gold cutout dress that showed just enough skin.

Naomi Watts also went with the glam color combo, donning a backless gold-and-black Alexander McQueen number. The Impossible star’s edgy updo (did she visit Miley Cyrus’ hairstylist before the show?) offered an unexpected contrast to the glitzy gown. Also heating up the red carpet, Lea Michele sizzled in a sparkly pink mini dress with sheer paneling.

Red carpet newcomer, Chloë Grace Moretz seems set on making a name for herself as one of the season’s standout style stars. The young actress shined in a neon lace frock. Meanwhile awards show veterans Jennifer Aniston and Sandra Bullockshowed the young’ens how it’s done in chic fashion-forward styles.

Of course, all that red carpet risk-taking rarely comes without casualties…

While in past, we’ve seen everything from the outrageous to the tawdry and just plain tacky, this year’s fashion faux pas were less overt. Still, it never gets old seeing which stars just plain missed the mark.

See our picks for the People Choice Awards’ best-dressed stars. Then check out the night’s biggest fashion flops.

A Look Back at the Fashion Highlights From Last Year’s People’s Choice Awards (PHOTOS)

People's Choice Awards 2012 Fashion 2012 People's Choice Awards - Red Carpet 2012 People's Choice Awards - Red Carpet 2012 People's Choice Awards - Arrivals

We’re counting down the minutes until tonight’s kick off to red carpet season — the 2013 People’s Choice Awards.

There’s only a few more hours to go until the red carpet fashion show begins, and to pass the time, we’re looking back at some of the most memorable looks from last year’s show.

Though the two biggest red carpet extravaganzas of the year — the Golden Globes and the Oscars — tend to steal all the style thunder, the People’s Choice Awards happens to be one of our favorite red carpet events to watch.

Not only is it a chance for stars to set the tone for the rest of the red carpet season, but there’s also less pressure to hit a home run, so we see many stars get more adventurous with their looks. Translation: The fashion is often far more fun and exciting to watch.

Plus, the fashion tends to be a little more casual compared to the dramatic couture confections that pour out come Golden Globes and Oscars time, with fashionistas like Emma Stone, Jennifer Aniston, Jennifer Lawrence and Selena Gomez donning everything from pants and tuxedo jacekts to mini dresses on the red carpet.

In other words, the red carpet fashion is far more translatable to real life, so there’s always plenty of inspiration to steal for your next cocktail party or night-out.

Take a look back at the fashion from the 2012 People’s Choice Awards.

Share your favorite looks from last year’s show — plus, which stars you’re excited to see hit the red carpet this year.

Kerry Washington’s Headgear Turns a Do Into a Don’t

Kerry Washington's 'Django Unchained' Style Kerry Washington's style at 'Django Unchained' premiere Kerry Washington's style at 'Django Unchained' premiere Kerry Washington's style at 'Django Unchained' premiere Kerry Washington's style at 'Django Unchained' premiere Kerry Washington's style at 'Django Unchained' premiere Kerry Washington's style at 'Django Unchained' premiere

Kerry Washington has been showing off her killer style recently while promoting her latest film Django Unchained.

Donning one of the most exciting premiere wardrobes we’ve seen lately, the Scandal star’s stylish streak has consisted of one chic look after another.

Though no two looks have been alike, the only thing that’s stayed the same from premiere to premiere has been Washington’s ability to infuse her easy elegance into bold, fashion-forward styles.

Washington’s fashionable streak would have continued without a foreseeable end in sight, but yesterday, the star appeared at a photo call in Germany donning some questionable headgear that overshadowed her otherwise chic and modern ensemble.

Though Washington rarely makes a red carpet misstep, the big, white bow framing her face at the Berlin photo call made us do a double take. An unfortunate combo of girly and cutesy, the over-sized bow clashed with the modern elegance of her checkered nude midi-dress and bright white pumps, quickly turning a do into a don’t.

But it didn’t take the stylish star long to recover from her style slip-up. Washington quickly made us forget her cheesy headpiece, with the bright orange and magenta floral-print gown she wore to the film’s premiere. The floor-length number featured a tiered top and bottom that was fresh while still fitting the romantic vibe of the print.

Washington finished off the look with two big red carpet beauty trends — a bright pink pout and a wraparound braid — for a fashion-forward yet polished look.

Check out more of Washington’s bold Django Unchained premiere style.

What do you think of Washington’s two premiere looks? And what’s your take on the bow: quirky and fun or never okay past the age of five? Weigh in below.

Stars to Watch for on the Red Carpet This Awards Season (VIDEO & PHOTOS)

Half the fun of awards shows is what happens beforehand.

We’re talking about the red carpet fashion show that precedes all the season’s big awards show, from the People’s Choice Awards to the Golden Globes and Oscars.

If it weren’t for the red carpet, how would Angelina Jolie’s left leg ever have launched its career as an Internet meme? Or how would we have seen Ryan Seacrest falter as Sacha Baron Cohen (aka “The Dictator”) dumped ashes on his shiny new tux — and hair.

And of course, without the pre-show red carpet extravaganza, we wouldn’t get some of the most memorable fashion moments.

While the ridiculous easily come to mind (recall: Bjork‘s swan costume at the 2001 Oscars or Lara Flynn Boyle’s ballerina costume at the 2003 Golden Globe Awards), some red carpet gowns have been responsible for launching a career or two. Nicole Kidman’s chartreuse Dior Haute Couture dress at the 1997 Oscars and Michelle Williams’ canary Vera Wang confection at the 2006 Oscars are just two examples of game-changing gowns.

Who are this year’s front contenders for the red carpet’s best-dressed lists? And which stars could launch their red carpet career this awards show season?

To prep you for the official start of this year’s Awards Show Season — which starts this week with the People’s Choice Awards on Wednesday followed by the Golden Globes on Sunday — we’ve rounded up a list of the starlets to look out for on the red carpet.

A few are best-dressed regulars, while others have had one or two…or three (but who’s counting?) fashion mishaps before. (One actress even challenges the standard convention that pants are necessary in public, but that makes her all the more interesting to watch, no?)

Take a look at the stars we’ll be watching out for this red carpet season and see if you agree.

Who are you most excited to see on the red carpet this season?

Emma Stone Shows How a Few Choice Accessories Can Take Your Look to the Next Level (PHOTOS)

After her endless stylish array of diverse designer duds during last summer’s Spiderman promo tour, we’ve been counting down until Emma Stone‘s next movie to promote. So we couldn’t be more excited that her latest film — Gangster Squad — premiered in L.A. last night.

Even better: Not only will Stone have plenty of opportunities to show off her cool-girl style while making the rounds with Ryan Gosling to promote Gangster Squad, but the film’s ’40s-inspired fashion is fabulous to boot.

Last night, Stone didn’t disappoint with her fashion at the film’s premiere, hitting the red carpet in a crimson Lanvin dress and blonde bob.

While the strapless stunner’s bold hue and elegant silhouette made a chic statement, it was the actress’ accessories that really took her look to the next level.

Hot from Lanvin’s Pre-Fall 2013 Collection, the stylish star belted the brocade and silk dress with a coordinating crimson belt embellished with Lanvin’s red ‘Volubilis’ crystal flower brooch.

Playing off the brooch’s red jewels, Stone donned a matching red statement necklace. Also by Lanvin, the red ‘Babylon’ crystal necklace finished off her monochromatic ensemble and drew eyes up toward her other big accessory for the night: her blunt bangs and bob.

Stone’s longer bob paired with Hollywood’s hot hair trend, aka forehead fringe, gave her a sophisticated look to match her elegant ensemble.

To avoid an accessories-overload, Stone finished off her red-hot outfit with classic red patent leather Christian Louboutin pumps and a coordinating red Lanvin box clutch.

While Stone’s perfectly styled Gangster Squad premiere ensemble wins our vote for the Look of the Day, we only wish she had debuted the look sooner, so we could have stolen it for holiday wardrobe inspiration.

Take a closer look at how Stone’s statement-making accessories amped up her look.

What do you think of Stone’s stylish ensemble? How about her hairdo: fresh and chic or a bit too mom-like? Share your take below.

Red Carpet Season kicked off in style over the weekend, with the first of many fetes planned around the upcoming awards shows.

A precursor to next Sunday night’s Golden Globes, the Audi Golden Globes Kick Off Party was full of fab fashion.

From black to red and sparkles to prints, we’re counting down all the night’s top looks.

Naomi Watts and Kate Bosworth coordinated in anything-but-basic black, while Jamie Chung showed off her stems in a printed black-and-white mini dress.

Also doing the print thing, Fashion Star‘s Louise Roe shined in a yellow printed draped-shoulder dress and matching heels.

Modern Family’s Julie Bowen continued 2012′s sparkle trend in a glittery one-shoulder mini dress, while Nashville star Connie Britton went with another big red carpet trend from last year, donning a long, off-the-shoulder red Black Halo Eve gown and a coordinating crimson pout.

The Sexiest Red Carpet Dresses of 2012 (PHOTOS)

The red carpet sizzled this year, as one daring dress after the other paraded past the flashing lights.

From Angelina Jolie thigh-high slits to plunging necklines to Christina Hendricks‘ curve-hugging gown, skin was by far the year’s biggest red carpet fashion trend.

Katy Perry sporting some cleavage? Rihanna showing a lil’ skin? Okay, not all of these risqué looks are completely shocking.

But there are some stars that made the list who aren’t your usual sex kitten culprits, including Jennifer Lawrence and Kristin Stewart.

So what made 2012′s red carpet dresses so hot?

This year it was all about cutouts, lace (not necessarily the Kate Middleton prim and proper type), sheer panels and cleavage — lots and lots of cleavage.

From the sultry to the daring to the risque, stars sizzled on the red carpet in 2012.
