It may have been back to reality for most of us who had to return to work last week, but A-listers like Jessica Alba, Olivia Palermo and  Julianne Hough extended their holiday vacations into the New Year.

From the beaches of St. Barts and Mexico to Miami, Hollywood’s hottest stars celebrated the New Year with some fun in the sun.

While they may have taken a break from the set, these stars didn’t slack on style during their beach getaways.

Wowing us with more than just their beach bods, Palermo, and Hough both hit the sand in style, donning chic cover-ups over bright or white (in Hough’s case) bikinis to catch some rays with their main men in toe.

Also scoring major points in the style and bikini body departments,Naomi Watts, and Jessica Alba and Cindy Crawford all looked impossibly chic while playing in the sand and ocean with their families.

Flaunting her baby bump, mom-to-be Jenna Dewan-Tatum channeled her tropical surroundings in colorful prints while enjoying a beach babymoon with husband Channing Tatum.

But what really took these star’s resort-wear to the next level were the finishing touches. Fashionable flair — straw fedoras, retro shades, stacked bangles, beaded necklaces, printed beach bags — took these beach babes’ style from chic to magazine-worthy.

Even if you won’t be enjoying a vaca anytime soon, these stars’ resort style will transport you (at least for a few minutes) to someplace fab and fashionable.

Check out the stars’ chic resort style and get inspired to plan your next getaway.

The holidays may be over, but it’s still vacation time for Olivia Palermo in St. Barts.

On Friday, the 26-year-old was spotted showing off her killer bikini body, donning a stylish mismatched two-piece.

Palermo, who has been on the pristine Caribbean island since the Christmas break, was joined by her model beau of four years Johannes Huebl, who sported white swim trunks.

From Palermo and Huebl to Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber, Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi to Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan-Tatum, St. Barts has been the vacation hotspot for celebrities in recent weeks.

Earlier this week, another hot celebrity couple, Ryan Seacrest and Julianne Hough, were spotted taking in the sights and sounds of the Caribbean island. The pair divided their time between paddle-boarding and frolicking in the water.

Emma Stone, Kate Middleton and Kourtney Kardashian are Already Fans of Pantone’s 2013 Color of the Year — Are You?

Jewel tones are the haute hues for fall, and emerald has emerged as the rich palette’s breakout star. Earning the most prestigious title a color can get, the deep shade of green has been named Pantone’s 2013 Color of the Year.

But 2013 won’t be emerald’s first time trending on the red carpet. Either there’s a shady leak, or there are more than a few stylish stars with fashion ESP. Because Emma Stone, Kourtney Kardashian, and Kate Middleton are just a few of the ahead-of-the-curve celebs who sported the green hue in 2012.

It’s not hard to see why emerald has climbed its way to the top of the color pyramid and found a place in next year’s fashion forecast.

The deep green is a sophisticated way to bring color into your look, and unlike lime and seafoam, it flatters a wide range of skin tones.

And it’s easy to dress up or down; wear as an accent or allover. Working the trend into their everyday ensembles, Olivia Palermo hit a home run in an emerald blazer and yellow jeans, while Jennifer Hudson used the rich shade to break up an all-black ensemble.

But the most of-the-moment way to wear these hues is from head to toe. Rachel McAdams and Reese Witherspoon have proven emerald to be an elegant alternative to black for evening-wear, while Revenge‘s Ashley Madekwe showed off the color’s trendy side in an emerald pantsuit for a chic holiday party look.

With the color authority’s endorsement, we expect an emerald explosion for 2013, so if you haven’t already, there’s no better time to go green.

See all the psychic stars who predicted emerald would be big and get ideas for working the haute hue into your 2013 wardrobe here.

What do you think of Pantone’s choice for 2013′s Color of the Year? Which hue would you have picked? Share below.

Kate Middleton, Zoe Saldana and Jessica Alba Have the Blues (GALLERY)

Cobalt blue is one of the season’s top hues — and don’t expect it to go away anytime soon.

This electric blue has been going strong since its appearance on the Burberry and Pucci fall runways, inciting celebs like Carrie Underwood to abandon the LBD and take cerulean for a spin on the red carpet.

And while it may be the happiest time of the year, our favorite style stars are feeling blue this holiday season, with Zoe Saldana, Kate Middleton, Jessica Alba and Miranda Kerr all jumping on the bright blue bandwagon.

Perhaps its versatility is what ignited this bold blue’s popularity: Worn dressy or casual, day or night, cobalt brings an unexpected pop to any outfit — yet it still pairs well with virtually any hue or neutral.

Now that the holidays are here, cobalt is not only a fashion-forward choice, it’s also a festive one. It’s nearly impossible not to have a good time when clad in the bright blue, and, as one of Hanukkah’s signature hues, it also happens to be a modern alternative to red and green.

Freshen up your holiday look by adding cobalt to your holiday palette. Try wearing a bright blue blazer over basic black skinny jeans to a casual holiday happy hour, or pair a sexy cobalt sheath dress with your favorite heels for a fancier fete.

For totally risk-free way to try this trend, throw on a blue scarf or accessory that will give you a less intense pop of color.

To see cobalt in action, click through the slides below: We’re breaking down some of the most eye-catching cobalt-clad celebs to show you how to wear it best.

What’s your favorite “it” color for the holidays: Cobalt, emerald, or oxblood?

Jessica Alba, Taylor Swift and 5 More Reasons to Ditch the Dress for Printed Pants: Trendspotting (GALLERY)

Printed pants are trending in a big way without any sign of abating. What started as an extension of the colored denim trend has gone viral — spreading from nine-to-five trousers to after-five pants and beyond.

Fashion A-listers, from Olivia Palermo and Jessica Alba to Kristen Stewart and model Coco Rocha, have all swapped last season’s printed skirts and frocks for fall’s trendy trousers.

And we’ve got five more reasons why you should jump on the printed pants bandwagon too — plus, how to style every iteration of the busy bottoms, for just about every occasion.

1. They’re just as versatile as that printed dress. While prints can be hard to pull off — especially on pants, which are tricky to begin with — this trend is far more wearable than you might think. Whether you’re headed to the office, a holiday party, or the movies, we’ve rounded up our favorite print-loving trendsetters to show you how to pull off work patterned pants with panache.

2. There’s a style for every occasion and body. Rather than just being for girls with the stems for skinnies or the height for wide-leg styles, this season’s pants are far more democratic. Prints are popping up on just about every pant styles, from ankle-length skinnies and tailored trousers to breezy (read: loose) palazzo-like pants. In other words, there’s a printed pair to flatter every shape and size.

3. There’s a print for every style, too. Unlike the prints du jour of the past, this trend isn’t limited to just one or two patterns. Just about every design is fair game: florals, stripes, zigzags, foils, paisley. The key is knowing what to pair with your print-of-choice, so we’ve rounded up your favorite style setters to show you how to pull off the hottest printed pant styles and patterns.

4. They’re a run-free alternative to the whole skirts and tights deal. Printed pants are the easiest way to add flair to your winter wardrobe without sacrificing warmth. Plus, they’re more unexpected than a floral skirt or paisley dress.

5. Printed pants are popping up in every price range. From Balenciaga to TopShop, you won’t have any trouble finding a pair to fit your budget. For trendier designs, like paisley or florals, H&M and TopShop have chic but cheap options, and Palermo and Alba are fans of printed tuxedo trousers from Narciso Rodriguez’ new line for Kohl’s. But not all printed pants have a short lifespan: Prada and Michael Kors turned out pairs that will make a stylish statement for years to come, as did Banana Republic, J. Crew, and Kate Spade.

So what are you waiting for? Click through our gallery to get ideas and tips for pulling off printed pants no matter where you’re headed — then take this trend for a spin.

Now find out how to accessorize those printed pants with our fall fashion trends round-up for The Daily Buzz.

Jessica Alba, Miranda Kerr and More Stars Show Their Side-Stripes in Tuxedo Pants: Trendspotting (GALLERY)

If tuxedo pants and track pants were to have a baby, this season’s side-striped pants would be it — and the sporty-chic style has Miranda Kerr, Olivia Palermo and Alicia Keys showing their stripes.

After doing a complete 180, summer’s horizontal stripes have migrated south, where they have been gracing the sides of everything from skinny jeans to tailored trousers and breezy ankle styles.

The chic melding of workout wear and formal wear makes this season’s take on tuxedo trousers far more versatile than you might think…

The sporty yet refined vertical stripe adds instant style to any pair of pants, but it’s far easier to pull off than the season’s other printed pants trend, earning the side-stripe a diverse following, with everyone from preppy Palermo and edgy Alba to cool Keys sporting side-stripes.

To take this sporty style from the track to the office or out on the town, keep the rest of your look polished and streamlined. In other words, skip the sneakers, tees and baggy tops.

Fit and fabric are key. With denim styles, do as Palermo does with her oxblood striped skinnies and mustard sweater, and you’ll be golden: Opt for fitted denim in rich hues to counter a boxier top, and look for polished extras to finish of the look like the reality star’s heels and clutch.

If you prefer trouser styles like Kerr’s khaki version, avoid veering into black-tie territory by opting for tailored ankle-length styles. A crisp white blouse and a great pair of heels — a la Keys and Kerr — elevate the borrowed-from-the-boys bottoms.

For more ways to work fall’s tuxedo trousers, check out our gallery.

Olivia Palermo, Jessica Alba and Michelle Williams Preview Narciso Rodriguez’ New Collection for Kohl’s

One of the many perks of being a celebrity: Getting your hands on pieces from some of the most in-demand fashion collaborations before the sure-to-sell-out collections even hit stores.

Fashion-forward celebs Jessica Alba, Olivia Palermo, and Michelle Williams took full advantage of that perk recently, sporting styles from Narciso Rodriguez for DesigNation at Kohl’s yet-to-be-released capsule collection.

The red carpet favorite has joined Vera Wang in collaborating with Kohl’s on a budget-friendly line of separates, ranging from $30 to $150, that will hit stores on November 7. But Alba, Palermo, and Williams have already scored pieces from Rodriguez’ yet-to-be-released Istanbul-inspired collection.

The lucky trio recently previewed the pieces, demonstrating three unique ways to style the versatile — and wallet-friendly — separates.

Alba and Williams both sported paisley pants from the collection recently — but each put their own unique spin on the breezy bottoms.

Always on-trend Alba dressed the printed pants down for a day of errands in L.A., pairing them with a black leather motorcycle jacket and messenger bag that coordinated with the pants’ tuxedo stripe. Heels pulled together the mom-of-two’s slouchy, downtown look.

Clearly a big fan of the trendy bottoms, Alba was seen wearing them again for a night-out with her husband, Cash Warren. The stylish star went with black add-ons again, but opted for a structured blazer and pointy-toed pumps for a dressier ensemble.

Proving that even a trendy piece can be incredibly versatile, Williams went for a completely different look, wearing the same paisley bottoms while walking her puppy in Portland. The petite star balanced the whimsical print with a blue Oxford, smoking slippers and a cropped black blazer to bring it in line with her borrowed-from-the-boys style.

Rolling the hem of the pants made the looser fit work on the actress’ petite frame and furthered the effortless vibe.

Fashion week front-row fixture Palermo is always ahead of the fashion curve in the latest styles. The model and Piperlime fashion consultant was spotted out and about in New York City in a color-blocked sheath from the capsule collection, which she accessorized to fit her polished but fashion-forward style, with a coordinating envelope clutch and zebra-print stilettos.

Want to get Palermo’s chic style? Palermo shares more of her style secrets — and the other trends she’ll be wearing this fall — in the video below.
