Nelly Goes For a Ride with ‘Hey Porsche’ Single

Nelly is back and he’s eyeing the pop charts with his radio-friendly single ‘Hey Porsche.’ The song follows the formula of his 2010 hit ‘Just a Dream’ with its twangy rock guitar riffs and sing-songy rap flows.

On the track, Nelly rhymes about the object of his affection as he metaphorically describes her like the sought-after luxury vehicle. “I want to take your top off / Celebrate, little champagne pop off, yeah / We can turn the clocks off / No rush we can park somewhere,” he raps.

The St. Louis rhymer also sings a catchy pop hook on the chorus that goes, “Hey little Porsche / I want drive ya / Crazy baby girl, there’s nothing like ya / Hey little Porsche / So right, I had to get ya / Back it up and let’s roll.”

It’s blatantly clear that Nelly is going after the pop terrain that fellow rapper Flo Rida has conquered within the past year. Some Nelly fans might frown at that, but it’s the nature of the business. Who knows? He might even score an endorsement deal with the car maker.

Nelly is currently working on his seventh album ‘M.O.,’ which is expected to hit stores in 2013.

Nelly Left ‘Baffled’ Following Texas Tour Bus Raid

Nelly says he is still “baffled” over his surprise tour bus raid that occurred a few weeks ago. On Oct. 11, authorities in Sierra Blanca, Texas pulled over his vehicle and found over 10 pounds of marijuana, multiple bags of heroin and a loaded .45 caliber handgun.

A member of Nelly’s entourage, Brian Keith, was arrested for the contraband and the St. Louis rapper released a statement claiming he was innocent in the matter. But the incident has left a heavy burden on Nelly.

In an interview with MTV News, the ‘Hot in Herre’ rhymer is hurt that his friend’s negligent act almost jeopardized his and others’ livelihood. “I think in this case it’s really alarming when you find yourself in a situation that you didn’t put yourself in,” says Nelly. “That’s the only thing that I think is baffling, and I think that’s the part that hurts the most.”

Although the raid happened a couple weeks ago, Nelly is concerned that people’s impression of him has changed. “For 14 years, I made my perception what I wanted to make my perception and now my perception may be slightly changed,” he says. “Not because of what I did, but because of what someone else did and I think that’s the part that hurts you the most.”

Despite the unfortunate incident, Nelly still considers Keith as family so we won’t turn his back on him. “It is a sensitive situation because… that’s like family to me and sometimes family are the ones that hurt you the worse,” he says. “For a long time someone protected my life with their life, and be that as it may, I can’t overlook that.”

Tour Bus Companies Warn Against Sierra Blanca Checkpoint in Light of Nelly Drug Bust

We’re not sure how this will go down in court, but innocent until proven guilty, right?

The passenger on Nelly‘s tour bus who admitted that the contraband found (including over 10 pounds of marijuana, small amounts of heroin and a hand gun) were his has plead not guilty to drug possession charges.

At a border control checkpoint in Sierra Blanca, Texas, police found tiny bags of heroin, over 10 pounds of marijuana and a loaded gun after canines alerted them to the substances. Bryan Keith Jones admitted that drugs and gun were his. He was taken into custody and Nelly and the rest of the crew were let go. Jones was released on bail yesterday morning (Oct. 13).

Despite admitting that the items were his (dude, 10 pounds of weed?!), TMZ reports that Jones will likely fight the felony charges against him. For his part, Nelly insisted he had no clue any of those goods were on his tour bus. It is my understanding a member of my staff made an unfortunate decision to bring unlawful materials onto our tour bus that resulted in his arrest this morning,” Nelly said Friday night (Oct. 12). “Neither I nor anyone else on the tour bus was aware of his decision to bring these on board. Law enforcement officials did not press charges against anyone other than that individual.”

Tour bus companies have begun taking extra precautions for the now-infamous checkpoint, where Fiona Apple, Willie Nelson and Snoop Dogg also faced issues. Several companies told TMZ that they’re warning their celebs “to abandon all illicit items if they do happen to sneak some aboard.” Meanwhile, one line told the site, “It’s just idiotic. Just plain idiotic to risk having something like that on board. You’d have to be stupid to allow that kind of stuff on the bus. That’s why we make sure that doesn’t happen on our line.” Amen to that!

Nelly Denies Knowing Heroin, Marijuana + Gun Were on His Tour Bus

Nelly got a scarethis morning (Oct. 10) when police detained him and his seven-person entourage at a border control checkpoint in Sierra Blanca, Texas. While the ‘Hot in Herre’ rapper didn’t comment on the allegations earlier when news broke, he’s now releasing a statement on the incident.

Some backstory first: Cops found tiny bags of heroin, over 10 pounds of marijuana and a loaded gun after police dogs alerted them to the substances. Bryan Keith Jones admitted that drugs and gun were his, and Nelly and the rest of the crew were let go. Jones was taken to jail awaiting release on bond.

Now that you know all that, Nelly released a statement to TMZ about the scare. “It is my understanding a member of my staff made an unfortunate decision to bring unlawful materials onto our tour bus that resulted in his arrest this morning,” he (or, more likely, his attorney or PR rep) told TMZ in a statement. “Neither I nor anyone else on the tour bus was aware of his decision to bring these on board. Law enforcement officials did not press charges against anyone other than that individual.”

Further, even though law enforcement confirmed that tests proved that the substances in the tiny bags were heroin, sources close to Nelly insist that it was “molly,” a nickname given to ecstasy. Either way, it’s illegal!

Nelly Tour Bus Raid: Police Find Heroin, Weed + a Loaded Gun

Nelly‘s tour bus was raided in Texas on Wednesday (Oct. 10), and authorities found massive amounts of weed, heroin and a loaded gun. According to TMZ, the bus was stopped at a border patrol checkpoint and a police canine detected the presence of contraband in the vehicle.

Nelly (real name Cornell Haynes) and several passengers were eventually detained after a search discovered three dozen small baggies of heroin (totaling .64 ounces), over ten pounds of marijuana and a loaded .45 caliber pistol. Whoa, Nelly!

One of the detainees, Brian Keith Jones, told authorities that the drugs and firearm were his and was arrested. Nelly and the other individuals were released to their tour bus.

We must also mention that this is the same checkpoint that has yielded drug busts from several celebrities including Snoop Dogg and Fiona Apple.

The Hudspeth County Sheriff’s Department issued a statement (courtesy of River Front Times) that reads:

Press Release
Hudspeth County Sheriff’s Office

October 11, 2012

Sierra Blanca, Texas–

On October 10, 2012 at approximately 8 pm. a 2007 Black Prevost Tour Bus that records later would reveal it belonged to Cornell Iral Haynes, a.k.a Nelly, who was onboard at the time, traveling eastbound on I-10 approached the U.S. Border Patrol Checkpoint located in Sierra Blanca, Texas. During a routine check of U.S. citizenship the inspecting Border Patrol agent, a canine detected the presence of concealed humans and/or controlled substances emitting from the seams of the main entrance of the vehicle and requested the driver to pull into the secondary inspection lane for further inspection. The agent requested all subjects to exit the bus so that a canine working the checkpoint could conduct an inspection of the vehicle. Upon entering the bus the canine alerted to a cardboard box. A further search produced a small plastic container containing marijuana, and (36) very small Ziploc bags containing Heroin and a loaded .45 cal pistol.

At that time all seven occupants of the vehicle were detained and read their Miranda Warning Rights. Upon further inspection of the canine alerted to an outside lower compartment of the vehicle–after accessing the compartment agents found a large green-duffle bag containing (9) vacuum sealed bags containing marijuana. (Total weight of the marijuana seized was 10.4 lbs and weight of the Heroin was a total of .64 ounces).

At that time Brian Keith Jones freely admitted that the controlled substances along with the weapon belonged to him and he was placed under arrest by U.S. Border Patrol agents and detained. The vehicle and all subjects except for Jones were released from the checkpoint and allowed to travel with no further incident. At approximately 930pm the Hudspeth County Sheriff’s Office was contacted and upon arrival, Mr. Jones was taken into custody and transported to the Hudspeth County jail and is currently awaiting a bond-hearing expected to take place later today or tomorrow.

Nelly’s reps had no comment on the matter.
