Ne-Yo Sings Sia’s Praises, Says Everyone is ‘Late’ on Discovering the Singer

Ne-Yo, who is currently enjoying major radio success with his dance hit ‘Let Me Love You,’ isn’t afraid to share which songwriter he is most enamored with from a professional standpoint. He was proud to point out that he has been a fan of Australian singer-songwriter Sia from the get-go, before she got “big.”

You may not be instantly familiar with Sia’s name or face. But you may have seen her on Season 1 of ‘The Voice‘ as a mentor or heard her song ‘Titanium’ with David Guetta. Sia actually co-wrote ‘Let Me Love You,’ which is rare, since Ne-Yo doesn’t often do co-writes. She also penned ‘Diamonds by Rihanna. She sings on Flo Rida‘s ‘Wild Ones.’ So yeah, you’ve heard of Sia. You just might not have known it.

“For me personally, I’ve been a fan of Sia for a long time,” he told MTV News. “From Zero 7 to ‘Some People Have Real Problems,’ these are her albums and people that she worked with before she got popular, so to speak.”

He continued the Sia Gush Fest, saying, “She’s been incredible for a long time. Her mastery of melody, from just the way that she works, her words and phrases, it’s been incredible. And people are just now catching on! Y’all are late; everybody’s late. It’s been that way.”

Ne-Yo usually don’t seek assistance when writing tracks, but he was happy to include Sia in the process for ‘Let Me Love You.’

“‘Let Me Love You’ is that song means a lot to me. That’s one of the very few co-writes I’ve ever done,” he explained. “It was an opportunity for me to step out of my comfort zone for a minute and just really try something new in regards to working with other writers. Shout out to Sia who also had an incredible 2012.”

But back to Ne-Yo. The reason he, well, loves ‘Let Me Love You?’

“The song is about the importance of loving yourself, which I felt was something that’s few and far between these days, with everyone getting plastic surgery this and cosmetic surgery that and just not understanding that you being who you are is your perfection,” he said. “Everybody’s searching for this unreal perfection, and it’s kind of sad, so I feel like the song came along absolutely at the right time.”

The Wanted Cover Ne-Yo’s ‘Let Me Love You’

The Wanted prove time and again that they’ve got the vocal chops to sing just about anything, and they drove that point home once more with their cover of Ne-Yo‘s smash hit ‘Let Me Love You.’

While the original track builds as a club banger with a positive message, the Wanted’s version keeps the momentum of the intro to produce an uplifting piano ballad. Nathan Sykes sings the opening bars, with Jay McGuiness following, then Max George and Tom Parker taking over for the first chorus.

Their rendition picks up tempo after the first chorus, but the acoustic setting and unedited harmonies makes the song their own, and it really showcases how well each of their distinct voices work with one another. Another awesome aspect of the video? McGuiness’ too-cute, interpretative dance moves and goofy faces.

Ne-Yo Performs ‘Let Me Love You’ + Vows a ‘Return to Slow Jams’ on MTV’s ‘Club New Year’s Eve’

Ne-Yo brought self-love to New Year’s Eve, performing his feel-good anthem ‘Let Me Love You’ on MTV’s ‘Club New Year’s Eve’ special.

Rocking a bright red suit and his signature fedora, Ne-Yo hit the stage to sing and dance his way through the self-esteem boosting track from ‘R.E.D.’ (not to be confused with Taylor Swift’s ‘Red,’ mind you). He even added in some extra dance breakdowns, which thrilled partygoers and audiences at home — because New Year’s Eve is the best time ever to get down.

Though most of Ne-Yo’s more recent hits have been uptempo songs, he’s looking forward to bringing in a new era of ballads. He chatted up ‘Club New Year’s Eve’ hostess and erstwhile ‘Jersey Shore’ starlet Snooki about his plan to go back to R&B basics in 2013.

“You know what?” he said when asked for his musical New Year’s plans. “R&B music. Y’all remember slow jams? I want R&B to make a comeback in 2013 and I’m gonna try and have something to do with that.” We can’t think of anyone better suited — literally and figuratively — for the job.

Ne-Yo’s Possibly Facing Lawsuit by Ex-Baby Mama

Ne-Yo‘s former baby mama is thinking of filing a lawsuit against the singer for comments he made during a VH1 ‘Behind the Music’ special, reports TMZ.

Jesseca White is angry that Ne-Yo talked about their past relationship drama on the show and has retained powerhouse attorney Gloria Allred to pursue legal action. White, you may recall, was the woman who duped Ne-Yo into thinking that he was the father of her son named Chimere (Ne-Yo’s given middle name).

After a lengthy court battle, White agreed to have Ne-Yo’s name removed from the child’s birth certificate. The former couple also reached a settlement of $575,000 and both signed confidentiality agreements to keep the matter on the hush-hush.

In September 2012, Ne-Yo spoke candidly about the baby-mama drama and his non-paternity case with White on his ‘VH1 Behind the Music‘ special. Now Allred has allegedly sent Ne-Yo a letter stating that he breached the agreement and ruined her client’s good name.

Allred claims that White is unable to find work, has filed for state aid and suffers from mental anguish because of Ne-Yo’s remarks about her. White is seeking compensation to resolve the matter or else she is going to drag Ne-Yo into court to let a judge hammer things out.

Neither Ne-Yo nor his attorneys had a comment on the matter.

Jason Mraz and Ne-Yo Talk Christmas Songs and New Year’s Resolutions (VIDEOS)

When it comes to Christmas music, it looks like two of the music industry’s biggest artists prefer the pop tunes to the religious ones.

“Favorite holiday song? ‘The Christmas Song,’” singer Ne-Yo told Celebuzz last Friday, before belting out a few lines from the Nat King Cole classic.

“I’m a holiday nut, I love ‘Sleigh Ride,’ I love ‘Baby, It’s Cold Outside,’ I love ‘Winter Wonderland,’”” soft rock crooner Jason Mraz said. “They’re all inclusive, except for those in the southern hemisphere where they’re not getting much snow, then I feel bad that I’m singing about snow.”

“It’s hard to place your heart in the right place.”

The singers were just two of a slew of performers at the annual Z100 Jingle Ball show, which was held at New York City’s Madison Square Garden.

For Mraz, the holidays are about turning everything off.

“I go off the grid. I go home. I’ve never played a New Year’s show or anything. I love to just go back to Virginia, put on a scarf, be with the family. It’s really great,” he told us.

As for his New Year’s resolution?

“Live the dream. it’s all about living the dream 2013,” the “I’m Yours” singer said.

On the other hand, Ne-Yo’s way of coming up with resolutions involves as little work as possible.

“Here’s the trick: you wait till the last hour or so of the year and then you make [your resolution]. So all the way up to that time, you can screw up as much as you want,” he said.

Watch Ne-Yo’s Debut ‘Saturday Night Live’ Performance

Ne-Yo made his ‘Saturday Night Live’ debut over the weekend, performing two songs from his new album ‘R.E.D.’ on the show hosted by Jamie Foxx.

The R&B superstar first gave the audience a high-energy rendition of his dance-pop single ‘Let Me Love You (Until You Learn to Love Yourself),’ backed by a set of male and female dancers. For his second song, Ne-Yo went for the mellow ballad ‘She Is.’ The album track features country star Tim McGraw, but he did not appear with the 30-year-old crooner on the show.

Ne-Yo has been all over the small screen promoting his fifth studio album. In addition to a major appearance on the CW’s ’90210,’ the singer has wooed audiences on ‘The View,’ ’106 & Park,’ ‘The Late Show with David Letterman,’ ‘Ellen,’ ‘Dancing With the Stars,’ ‘The Voice‘ and more. Additionally, Ne-Yo has also made appearances at the Soul Train Music Awards, the Halo Awards and on ‘CNN Heroes: An All-Star Tribute.’

The R&B hit maker is also being honored by the biggest awards show in the music industry. While he is not solely up for an award, Calvin Harris has been nominated for Best Dance Recording at the 2013 Grammys for his song ‘Let’s Go,’ which features Ne-Yo’s smooth vocals.

Watch Ne-Yo Perform at Z100 Jingle Ball 2012

Ne-Yo brought his gentlemanly swag to Madison Square Garden for the Z100 Jingle Ball concert last night (Dec. 7).

The fedora fan performed ‘Give Me Everything,’ without the aid of Pitbull or Nayer. He still pulled it off beautifully, and it showed that it may as well be his song — because as much as we love Mr. 305, you almost didn’t realize he was missing!

Ne-Yo was joined by dancers and showed off his own moves as well, raising the mic gracefully so the massive crowd could sing along. He also performed his feel-good single ‘Let Me Love You (Until You Learn to Love Yourself)’ to raucous applause. The good guys don’t always finish last!

Ne-Yo Grooves at 2013 Grammy Nominations Live Concert With ‘Let Me Love You’

Ne-Yo grooved with a troupe of dancers at the 2013 Grammy Nominations Live concert in Nashville tonight (Dec. 5.) The fedora-loving singer performed his most recent dance smash ‘Let Me Love You,’ and his moves were quite reminiscent of Michael Jackson.

The song is a club banger that we hear all the time, so it was a bit of an unexpected track for this concert. But it translated perfectly on the stage in Tennessee, since Ne-Yo is such a consummate performer and entertainer.

He stuck to one song, as opposed to doing a medley, like Maroon 5 did, and it was smart to focus as he did.

Did we mention that Ne-Yo really channeled the spirit of the King of Pop with his dance moves? Oh yeah, we did. Ne-Yo certainly dances as well as he sings, that’s for sure.

Big Time Rush Talk Love for Ne-Yo Before 2012 TeenNick Halo Awards

Big Time Rush were excited to be a part of TeenNick’s 2012 Halo Awards, not only to present deserving teens with awards, but to watch one of their favorite artists, Ne-Yo, perform.

Before the show, BTR’s James Maslow and Carlos Pena chatted with Celebuzz about their love for the R&B star. “I’ve been a fan of Ne-Yo before I even had a job in music,” Maslow revealed on the red carpet.

Pena also had a fun fact to share, proving his fandom. “He has a song called ‘Let Me Love You,’ and he wrote Mario’s ‘Let Me Love You.’ He did it twice . . . he’s pretty awesome,” he said.

The two members of BTR presented an award at the Hollywood Palladium event on Saturday (Nov. 17), which honors teens who give back to their communities, and, according to Pena, they couldn’t have been more honored to do it.

“There’s so many kids out there who are doing so much, I mean even more than we are and a lot of people out there,” the singer said. “They’re just giving their entire lives to go and help other people out and to me that’s such a beautiful thing.”

The 2012 TeenNick Halo Awards will air tonight (Nov. 19) at 8PM EST on Nick at Nite.

Ne-Yo to Perform on ‘SNL’ in December While Jamie Foxx Will Host

Ne-Yo and Jamie Foxx will reunite once again, but not for a new song. The R&B crooner and the actor-comedian will perform and host, respectively, on the Dec. 8 edition of ‘Saturday Night Live.’

This will be Foxx’s second time as a host. His last appearance on the long-running sketch comedy series was in Jan. 8, 2000 with punk-pop band Blink-182 as the musical guest. The 44-year-old entertainer is coming on ‘SNL’ to promote his lead role in Quentin Tarantino’s western/slavery flick, ‘Django Unchained,’ which arrives in theaters on Christmas Day.

Meanwhile, this will be Ne-Yo’s first appearance on ‘SNL,’ as he’s there to perform songs from his new album ‘R.E.D.’ He will most likely sing his latest hit ‘Let Me Love You’ on the show, which should be exciting to watch.

This is a reunion of sorts for the talented duo, since they have worked together in the past. In 2008, Foxx appeared on the remix of Ne-Yo’s song ‘Miss Independent’ called ‘She Got Her Own,’ featuring Fabolous.

Expect some big laughs and soulful sounds on the Dec. 8 episode of ‘Saturday Night Live,’ which airs on NBC at 11:30PM EST.
