SkyBlu of LMFAO Releases ‘Pop Bottles’ Solo Track

Tell us if you’ve heard this one before: LMFAO member does side project, raps about booze in bottles. You have, about RedFoo — but now SkyBlu is at it, too. The nephew-half of the duo dropped a single, ‘Pop Bottles,’ about a week after his afro-and-party-rocking uncle.

Sky’s track sounds a lot like an LMFAO track. He raps, “Pop bottles, make it rain/ Every night it’s all the same / Hit the club, hit the after party, then we hit the plane.” Sounds familiar, right? But it still sounds catchy. Sky employs singer Mark Rosas for the hook.

The track is produced by SkyBlu’s Big Bad University. He explained that while it may not necessarily be accredited, like any other college, it pretty much sets people up for success in their chosen field. In this case, it’s the field of party rocking.

“I created my own university. Basically I grew up people always telling me what I can and can’t do,” he told MTV News. “And I always kind of classified myself as a dreamer … I created a university for dreamers. We have a lot of musical artists in there, and DJs, and everybody in there is about to release a big song. I kind of want to show the world what’s up with Sky.”

What’s up with Sky? Well, shots, models, bottles and more of the same. He sticks with what works! We’re still waiting on that Latin album, though.

Redfoo of LMFAO Drops New Song ‘Bring Out the Bottles’

LMFAO may be on hiatus, but nothing will stop Redfoo from party rocking. The afro-loving frontman has dropped a new electropop song called ‘Bring Out the Bottles’ in which he promises to keep the bubbly flowing.

Redfoo, 37, shows no signs of maturing on the track, which is great news for those who couldn’t get enough of celebratory LMFAO hits like ‘Party Rock Anthem’ and ‘Champagne Showers.’ ‘Bring Out the Bottles’ is not at all a departure from those songs, although its electro swirls give it more of a European-influenced dance sound.

An Auto-Tuned Redfoo sings the verses and provides his own rap breakdown. “I’m rolling in the club with my hands up high tonight / On the dance floor, the girlies is lookin’ fly,” he sings. “Yeah, it’s gon’ be poppin’ tonight / Yeah, the champagne’s poppin’ tonight.” ‘Bring Out the Bottles’ is already available on iTunes.

In September, LMFAO declared they would be going their separate ways, though they insist the split is not permanent. This is not the first time Redfoo has branched out on his own without SkyBlu. Already this year, Foo has been featured on the Flo Rida track ‘Run’ and the collaboration between Justin Bieber and the Far East Movement, ‘Live My Life.’

Cielo Azul? LMFAO’s Sky Blu Goes From Party Rocking to Latin Music

Now that LMFAO have temporarily called it quits, Sky Blu is taking his talent elsewhere.

He recently performed at the Latin Grammys — rapping in English and dancing to Spanish music — with Mexican electronic dance group 3Ball MTY, and revealed a nifty little secret.

“I’m coming out with a Spanish song,” he said during a webcast of the arrivals on the green carpet. “It’s kind of hush hush right now, but I want to be somebody who brings a great song to the culture. I’m going to work on more songs with 3Ball MTY.”

So how did this mashup come about? YouTube, of course! After someone mashed LMFAO’s ‘Party Rock Anthem’ with 3Ball MTY’s ‘Intentalo,’ the performance became a reality and Sky Blu may be saying a permanent “goodbye” to the group that skyrocketed him to fame.

At least there will be music with flava to dance to!

SkyBlu of LMFAO Reconfirms They Are Not Breaking Up

In case it was unclear — and we can’t say we blame him for wanting to doubly confirm, given how out of hand the situation has gotten — SkyBlu, one half of LMFAO, has reconfirmed that the synth pop party rockers are not breaking up.

Last week’s media spiral made it appear that the duo, comprised of Redfoo and SkyBlu, who are uncle and nephew, respectively, had called it quits. But the twosome have moved quickly to quell the rumors and stanch the bleeding.

SkyBlu’s statement, released Monday (Sept. 24), read as follows (according to ABC News Radio):

LMFAO has not broken up. My uncle and partner, Redfoo, and I have decided to take some time between albums to explore our own interests in music and other areas in entertainment.

SkyBlu also reaffirmed both his and his uncle’s commitment to the mission of party rocking and to LMFAO, saying, “Redfoo and I are Party Rockers for life. We love and respect one another and support each other in everything we do.”

PartyRock4Life, yo! Sounds like the twosome needs to get tattoos to prove that they are still an entity.

So get it straight. They are each taking time apart to work on other things, which they are well within their rights to do, but that does not spell the end for LMFAO.

Get it? Got it? Good.

LMFAO Downplay Split Rumors

Everyone who mourned the apparent breakup of party rockers LMFAO, pour yourself a celebratory shot: they haven’t split up!

On Friday, it was announced that the curly do-ed, drink enthusiast duo were going on a hiatus — which is true. Redfoo told an Australian news outlet, “I feel like we’ve been doing this for so long, five or six years, and we’re kind of like saying, well, let’s just do what’s natural and just kind of explore that, instead of like forcing it all the time.” In short? They weren’t having fun or being inspired much, so they’re diving into other things.

However, when reports began to interpret that announcement as a full fledged breakup, the band’s reps issued a speedy denial. LMFAO’s publicist told SPIN that the group aren’t broken up, just taking a break to work on separate projects.

Perhaps the duo’s rumored tumultuous history lent itself to stories of a breakup. The pair were said to be feuding this past spring over Redfoo’s work with other artists and use of the ‘Party Rocking’ catchphrase in outside merchandising and branding, an allegation which the group fervently denied. However, where there’s smoke, there’s fire. In any case, we’re looking forward to hearing what they come up with separately and together.

LMFAO Split… For Now

LMFAO

There will be no party rocking with LMFAO anytime soon. The uncle-nephew duo of Redfoo and SkyBlu are splitting… for now. They are taking a break from all that party rocking on order to pursue other interests.

Redfoo, who is working on his own line of tennis attire, revealed that the ‘Sexy and I Know It’ pair will be on hiatus. “I feel like we’ve been doing this for so long, five or six years,” Foo told news.com.au. “And we’re kind of like saying, well, let’s just do what’s natural and just kind of explore that, instead of like forcing it all the time.”

He used the term “forcing,” which makes us think things weren’t fun for the duo any longer, especially after they exploded and made a huge splash on the synth pop scene. Mo’ fame, mo’ money, mo’ problems, even when you are a party rocker.

Redfoo (the uncle) also said that he and SkyBlu (the nephew) were headed in different directions and that he wasn’t sure if or when they would ever get back together in a musical sense. Obviously, they’ll always be family, because they are biologically related.

Foo will, however, continue to party rock on his own, as he embarks on a solo career. “All the music that I’m going to make is always going to be LMFAO-ish,” he said. “I was really passionate about bringing party music to the world, so I will always be making some kind of party music.”

So while the LMFAO light may dim, the party rock mission will remain in tact.

PopCrushers, are you bummed by this split?
