In her video for ‘C’Mon,’ pop music’s resident bad girl Kesha plays a bleached blond, lollipop-sucking and sexually harassed waitress at the Awful House. Haha, get it. Waffle House. She’s a wild child ready to break out of that restricting job in this vid.
Kesha looks like a mini Dolly Parton when she gets picked up by a van full of people dressed like mascots from amusement parks. They proceed to cause trouble -it’s somewhat harmless, as they make a mess in a mini mart and at the Awful House.
It’s what we expect from dirty girl Kesha, as she cavorts in heels, gets felt up by one of the costumed dancers, slinks around in a furry hot tub and winks seductively at the camera from start to finish. If she’s trying to be outrageous and raise a few eyebrows in a silly way, she succeeded here.

While many of today’s brightest stars spent New Year’s Eve 2013 performing live for all of their fans, others were busy partying and spending time with close friends.
Before he hit the stage for New Year’s Rockin’ Eve in L.A., Justin Bieber posed with his buddy Lil Twist and sipped on something bubbly, while One Direction member Harry Styles smooched his lady love Taylor Swift following her performance in Times Square. Like the lady in ‘Red,’ Kesha also performed on New Year’s Eve 2013, and she later tweeted a picture of herself partying with those classic NYE shades.
Elsewhere, Rihanna and Chris Brown were up all night doing God know’s what (but we have a hunch it began with “s” and ended with “x”), and Beyonce kept it classy with a New Year’s Eve note and intimate performance for her fans in Vegas. Her hubby Jay-Z was performing in Brooklyn, and Big Time Rush member Kendall Schmidt took in the Jay-Z / Coldplay show from his seat at the Barclays Center. Meanwhile, Carlos Pena Jr. and his new girlfriend Alexa Vega spent the holiday in the Bahamas partying and bike riding with friends.

Kesha showed her softer side with some super cute kittens in the February issue of Seventeen, where she also had wise words for her animals — and revealed a pretty juicy secret about herself.
Rocking several different, diverse rock n’ roll, bohemian, flowery and just generally pretty looks, Kesha still looked like herself, which has always been super important to her… even when people don’t like what she’s doing. She admits in a behind-the-scenes video that she’s landed on worst dressed lists but that it doesn’t bug her, because it shows she’s doing her own thing.
“I used [negative comments] to motivate me then, and I still do,” she told the mag. “I remember every person who told me I couldn’t do something or that I was ugly or too fat. I have a ‘s— list’ — people from my past who have been soulless and judgmental. Even after I got through my awkward phase, got my braces off and figured out how to dress my body, people in the music business were like, ‘You’re never going to make it.’ I see them now and I’m like, ‘Ha!’ That’s one of the reasons I named my record ‘Warrior,’” she added. “You can be a victim and let that eat your soul, or you can say, You’re going on my list and I’m going to prove you wrong!”
First off, Kesha? Ugly? Fat? Are these people blind? She’s so cute! Still, she takes it in stride when people talk smack. “I’m very much into making fun of myself because other people do it so you have to be able to laugh at yourself,” she said. “The sooner you can laugh at yourself, the easier your life will be.”
That doesn’t mean she’s okay with outright bullying. In fact, she’s adamantly against it. “I’m all about standing up to gay/lesbian/transgender bullying, but it’s also about my little brother,” she said. “He’s 13 and he gets made fun of because he has a stutter. I just have zero tolerance for people making fun of others.”
Another reason K-Dollar Sign may be so against bullying of the LGBTQ community is because not only do they support her, but she identifies with them. She revealed, “I don’t love just men. I love people. It’s not about a gender. It’s just about the spirit that exudes from that other person you’re with.”
Good news for those of us with girl crushes on the Glitter Goddess!

Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift, Kesha and Jay-Z were just a few of the artists who entertained live on New Year’s Eve 2013, adding that extra oomph to music fans’ blowout bashes or low-key hangouts at home. Psy (with M.C. Hammer), Rita Ora, Ne-Yo, Nicki Minaj and Coldplay also celebrated New Year’s Eve 2013 with live shows in the N.Y.C. area, but out of all these performers, which one was your favorite to watch on NYE 2013?
While mostly all of these New Year’s Eve performers rang in 2013 from New York City, Justin Bieber was busy holding it down for the West Coast. The ‘Beauty and a Beat’ crooner performed his latest ‘Believe’ hit from L.A. for ‘Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve,’ and even got an assist from Big Sean for ‘As Long as You Love Me.’
Meanwhile, across the U.S., Taylor Swift was smooching Harry Styles and singing for her fans in Times Square. The ‘Red’ chart-topper wore leather and sparkles while belting ‘I Knew You Were Trouble’ and ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together’ in the frigid cold. Closing things out in Times Square were Psy and M.C. Hammer, who teamed up to perform their mashup of ‘Gangnam Style’ (which Psy swore to retire) and ’2 Legit 2 Quit.’
Who else hit the stage in N.Y.C.’s Time Square before the big ball dropped? Carly Rae Jepsen, Pitbull and Flo Rida were also on hand for some end-of-year entertainment, getting the crowd pumped for 2013 with their 2012 hits. To no surprise, Ms. Jepsen played ‘Call Me Maybe’ live, giving us one last taste of the viral hit (along with ‘This Kiss’) before the New Year. And Pitbull did what he did best — got the party started. Mr. 305 had the temperatures rising with his medley of high-energy hits like ‘International Love’ and ‘Hey Baby.’ Finally, Flo closed things out with a set of uptempo hits like ‘Cry’ and ‘Whistle.’
Over yonder in Brooklyn, N.Y., Jay-Z was performing live with his buddies in Coldplay at the Barclays Center. While Chris Martin, Jonny Buckland, Guy Berryman and Will Champion kicked things off with a short set of their own tunes, with Hova later joining them for ‘Lost’ and ‘Heart of the City.’ On top of that, Jay performed his own set of 25 songs on New Year’s Eve 2013, showing love to the city where he was born and raised.
Meanwhile, at MTV, Kesha, Rita Ora and Ne-Yo performed at the media outlet’s Club New Year’s Eve bash. The ‘Warrior’ princess from Tennessee chose to perform her newest single ‘C’Mon,’ Rita fittingly sang ‘How We Do (Party)’ to ring in 2013, and Ne-Yo of course had to entertain the masses with his infectious party jam ‘Let Me Love You.’
Closing out the whole shebang is Nicki Minaj, who hosted her very own New Year’s Eve 2013 celebration at Pure nightclub in Las Vegas. Between costume changes and some champagne popping, the Harajuku Barbie performed a plethora of hits for the Barbz gathered in Sin City. ‘Turn Me On,’ ‘Starships’ and ‘Moment 4 Life’ were just a few of the jams Nicki performed while ringing in 2013.

Let’s be real: No one parties harder, more or better than Kesha, so she’s sort of a shoe-in for an awesome New Year’s Eve. The Cannibal Queen took her talents to MTV’S Club New Year’s Eve, performing her new single (and one of our favorite tracks from ‘Warrior’), ‘C’Mon.’
Kesha’s song choice wasn’t just strategic in terms of marketing her new track — it was also somewhat necessary. She’s avoided singing and performing her massive hit, ‘Die Young,’ in the wake of the Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy, though the song isn’t actually about dying young — it’s about making the most of the time that you have. Still, ‘C’Mon’ is an ode to fun, living for the moment and one-night stands, making it a still awesome choice to kick off 2013. Happy New Year, Animals!

After giving birth to her first child, Jessica Simpson went with a more healthful approach to shed the baby weight, signing on as Weight Watchers’ newest spokesperson to help her shed the rumored 70-plus pounds she gained during her pregnancy. The new mom recently revealed her jaw-dropping weight loss before announcing her second pregnancy earlier this month.
Some stars, however, weren’t satisfied with just one transformation, shocking us with multiple makeovers in 2012.
Moneyball star Jonah Hill slimmed down in the later half of 2011, leaving fans shocked by this actor’s almost-gaunt appearance. But by mid-2012, Hill had filled out to almost his original weight from years prior.
No stranger to shocking looks, Ke$ha shocked critics and fans alike when she showed off a glam new look at the American Music Awards. But it wasn’t long before the edgy singer ditched her blonde waves and soft makeup for a goth-inspired hair and makeup.
The On the Road star has been dragged through the mud since news broke of her cheating scandal with her married Snow White and the Huntsman director (Rupert Sanders) back in July. But in an interview with Newsweek, she publicly acknowledged the issue that she has kept quiet about for months.
“I apologize to everyone for making them so angry. It was not my intention,” Stewart continued.
The apology came this week as we stare down the New Year. Could it be that Stewart is ready to move on from all the bad press and turn over a new leaf?
It sure seems that way — and she’s taking it one step at a time.
“It’s a little annoying having to be so compartmentalized. I go from box to box to box. Like right now, this is so crazy ’cause we’re out at a restaurant,” she told the magazine. “But I’m going out a lot more now. I was starting to get closed off and self-conscious, and I’m trudging forth into the world more often.”
The 25-year-old songstress — who debuted a more glamorous look at the 2012 American Music Awards — is channeling a grungy Rapunzel in a series of provocative shots to promote her upcoming album Warrior. In the snaps, the singer styles her blond locks in long braids with floral embellishments — and dons outfits ranging from scarlet vixen to seductive warrior.
The lyrics state, “Let’s make the most of this night/Like we’re gonna die young,” but in September Ke$ha explained to Carson Daly on AMP Radio, “It’s a celebration song, which I’m obviously known for writing those, but this one, the concept of it was to live each and every single day like it’s your last and to always remain having a youthful spirit no matter how old I get.”
This week, she said in a new statement, “The point of the song is the importance of living every day to the fullest and saying young at heart. These are things I truly believe.”
Part of what makes Kesha so refreshing is how unapologetic she is for who she is and what she represents. There’s more to her than glitter and garishness — there’s a heart. And Kesha’s heart stung when she came under fire for her ‘Die Young’ lyrics in light of the Newtown, Ct. school shooting.
But that doesn’t mean she should apologize for them.
‘Die Young’ was written, recorded and released for months without protest, but when Adam Lanza launched his brutal massacre in an elementary school, lots of sensitive souls turned on the Cannibal Queen. This was unfair and unwarranted, as well as being pretty ignorant.
The lyrics to ‘Die Young’ aren’t about wanting to or glorifying the death of young people. ‘Die Young’ is about living life to the fullest while there’s still time. The message is a positive one — essentially a sing-along of “carpe diem.”
Following the devastating deaths of 20 students and six teachers, it’s natural that the world would be a little sensitive. But yanking a song about making the most of the time you’ve got — just because of a title and chorus with the words “die young” — is at best misguided, and at worst pandering and creating a scapegoat that’s completely unnecessary. Persecuting artists for the actions of one ill individual isn’t just foolish, but it’s also dangerous, because it removes the focus from the actual problems that led to this horrific incident in the first place: mental illness and violence.
Kesha isn’t necessarily helping her own case for continually apologizing and backpedaling for her lyrical content, but it’s likely that the pressure from label suits and the brass and influencing are overwhelming her.
The fragility and uncertainty of life has rarely been more morbidly clear. Perhaps if we all made the most of our nights like we were going to die young, we’d have fewer regrets, more joyous memories and a better perspective. Instead of drowning them out, we need messages like the one delivered by ‘Die Young’ more than ever.

Kesha‘s ‘Die Young’ dropped sharply in radio airplay after the tragic shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Connecticut, causing the singer to issue a curious statement claiming that she was “forced” to sing the chorus of the song against her will. Today (Dec. 20), Kesha wrote a new blog post explaining her comments. The post read:
After such a tragic event I was feeling a lot of emotion and sadness when I said I was forced to sing some of the lyrics to Die Young. Forced is not the right word. I did have some concerns about the phrase “die young” in the chorus when we were writing the lyrics especially because so many of my fans are young and that’s one reason why I wrote so many versions of this song. But the point of the song is the importance of living every day to the fullest and staying young at heart, and these are things I truly believe.
Kesha co-wrote the song with Dr. Luke, Cirkut, Benny Blanco and Fun.‘s Nate Ruess. Apparently someone in the group convinced her to stick with ‘Die Young’ as the hook even though she had some reservations.
Despite the minor controversy, she’s right that the message of the song is a positive one.
‘Die Young’ suffered a large drop in radio spins in the three days following the shootings, as programmers felt the song’s title would be inappropriate after such a tragedy, but the song has since rebounded and remains in the Top 5 in airplay. The song was expected to continue slipping down the charts anyway as Kesha begins promoting her next single, ‘C’mon.’

Kesha‘s lead single from ‘Warrior,’ ‘Die Young,’ was an indirect casualty of the Newtown, Ct. massacre. The track faced an enormous radio airplay decline following the horrific school shooting on Dec. 15 when programmers and DJs pulled it from rotation.
The singer is now speaking out on the decision — and she’s being incredibly empathetic and sensitive. (We knew we liked her.)
K-Dollar Sign tweeted, “I’m so, so, so sorry for anyone who has been effected [sic] by this tragedy. And I understand why my song is now inappropriate. words cannot express.”
TMZ reports that Kesha, who is a co-writer of ‘Die Young’ with Fun. frontman Nate Ruess, Dr. Luke and others, followed with, “I had my very own issues with ‘die young’for this reason. I did NOT want to sing those lyrics and I was FORCED TO.”
That tweet has since been deleted, and it’s unclear to whom Kesha was referring when she claims she was forced to sing the track.
It’s worth noting that ‘Die Young’ isn’t actually about dying young, but about living life to the fullest, though the title is repeated in the chorus: “I hear your heart beat to the beat of the drums / Oh what a shame that you came here with someone / So while you’re here in my arms / Let’s make the most of the night like we’re gonna die young / We’re gonna die young / We’re gonna die young / Let’s make the most of the night like we’re gonna die young.”
