Must be nice to be Blue Ivy! The beautiful baby daughter of Jay-Z and Beyonce marked her first birthday on Jan. 7, and her proud parents celebrated in a big way.
Hov and Bey plunked down $200,000 in total on Blue’s birthday soiree. Nothing is too good for their little princess! Where did that cash go?
The Sun reports that the power couple spent $95,000 on pink and white roses for the party (why not blue ones?!), which had a princess theme. The birthday cake cost over $2,000, while the pair spent a mint on gift bags for their young guests, featuring toys, princess outfits, personalized engraved gold pens, playhouses and jewelry to the tune of $30,000.
A source told the tab, “Nothing’s been too big or expensive for their little princess. They wanted her first birthday to set the tone for the rest of her life. They work hard for their money and the first thing they want to spend it on is their baby girl.” The sourced added, “It’s hard to imagine how they can top this next year — or what her Sweet Sixteen will be like.”
Aside from the party, what was Blue’s gift? A cool $80,000 diamond-encrusted Barbie doll. And, you know, that $1 million nursery.

If you want to interpret a cryptic tweet issued by the-long-absent-from-making-music-while-he-stars-in-romantic-comedies Justin Timberlake, he just might be making his much anticipated return to music. Rumor has it that a long-rumored collabo with Jay-Z and Beyonce is in the works. Say what?!
According to Complex, the rumor began with Florida’s Radio Now 97.9, which suggested that the single will be released shortly.
Now things have caught fire a bit in terms of the who, the what and the when.
Last night, JT tweeted today’s date, referencing the very specific time of 9:01AM PT. So we know we have to watch out for something at that time. Will it be the single that is released to radio or via DSPs at that very moment? Could be. What a tease.
Apparently, he has recorded a full album that was produced by Timbaland, which was rumored and reported, and then shot down by his publicist, who flat out denied that he was working on music, back in August. Billboard reports that 20 tracks have been recorded. A source close to the situation also said the singer will be releasing music soon. Perhaps he watched and rewatched this PSA, where fans pleaded for him to make his return.
Jay-Z shared a photo of his daughter Blue Ivy playing with a deck of cards on his website Wednesday. The notoriously private rapper has been mum on revealing intimate details about his personal life on his site, Life + Times, until now.
The caption on the photo gives fans a glimpse of what life is like as Blue’s dad saying: “Last day of vacation, playing UNO.”
The 43-year-old has been on a beach-side vacation with wife Beyonce. The two are getting as much rest and relaxation before Beyonce takes the world by storm with performances at both the presidential inauguration on Jan. 20 in Washington D.C. and the Super Bowl Halftime Show on Feb. 3 in New Orleans.
But that’s not the only thing that is landing Bey in the news. Beyonce’s skin-baring cover for the February issue of GQ was released on Tuesday, causing an internet storm.
With parents who enjoy superstar lifestyles, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s bundle of joy is certain to be born into the lap of luxury.
We’ve mapped out exactly what’s in store for Baby Kimye — including numerous homes, countless family jewels and trips on private jets to the world’s most exclusive vacation spots.
That’s not all: between multimillion dollar car collections, fashion lines, and famous friends like Beyonce and Nicole Richie, the impending arrival is going to have access to the best of the best. See all that awaits the baby, below:
“Kimye” hasn’t been welcomed to the world yet and it’s already requesting top notch cuisine. Kardashian, 32, who is around three months pregnant, told reporters during her New Year’s Eve party that she is having cravings for sushi.
But cravings aside, there’s one thing that the soon-to-be-mommy wants for her newborn.
We are happy to announce the arrival of our beautiful daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, born on Saturday, January 7, 2012.
Her birth was emotional and extremely peaceful, we are in heaven. She was delivered naturally at a healthy 7 lbs and it was the best experience of both of our lives. We are thankful to everyone for all your prayers, well wishes, love and support.”
When it comes to Jay-Z and Beyonce‘s baby Blue Ivy, it’s clear that money is no object. The couple reportedly rents a swank nursery at Barclays Center for a cool $1 million per year.
According to Us Weekly, the luxurious lower-level accommodations are outfitted with plenty of goodies for the baby girl. “Jay rents a luxurious basement suite for $1 million a year,” the source says. “It has an area for Blue filled with toys.”
Of course, Blue Ivy doesn’t get to have all the fun. The magazine also reports that the rapper has his own VIP space, which is the most expensive of 11 boxes for rent. Just to give you an idea, the average space goes for $550,000. “It’s all glass with a champagne bar and TV screen,” says the source. “Jay lets friends use his digs when he’s not there.”
Blue Ivy has experienced much of the luxe life, and there’s no doubt that her parents will throw her the party of the year since she turned 1 today (Monday, Jan. 7). A word to invited guests, don’t even think about getting her a pair of kicks. The tiny tot allegedly already has a pair of Swarovski-encrusted sneakers specially designed by Ruthie Davis.

Gwyneth Paltrow is married to the lead singer of Coldplay, Chris Martin, so it’s not surprising that spent her New Year’s Eve with her hubby’s band and their two tots, Apple and Moses, at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. It was a little surprising, though, that she danced onstage to ‘Run This Town’ with Jay-Z … because it was embarrassing to watch.
Paltrow showed off her WASP roots, dancing like your mom does at weddings after too many champagne toasts. Between her jerky movements and flying ponytail, she really did dance like no one was watching — which is fine, except when thousands of people actually are. We can’t say we blame her, though: This particular writer was at the show, and it was a great one.

Rita Ora is baring her claws over a ridiculous rumor started by a U.K. reality star suggesting that she is sleeping with her mentor Jay-Z. While Ora usually seems so sweet and cute, she has proven that she won’t take trash talk lying down. No pun intended, of course.
Ora was dogged by some ugly cheating rumors at the end of 2012 when her ex Rob Kardashian spewed venom on Twitter, accusing her of sleeping with lots of other guys during their time together. She kept rather quiet about that mess, but she couldn’t help herself this time out and responded to Holly Fagan of the U.K. reality show ‘Geordie Shore,’ who for some strange reason suggested that Ora was getting down and dirty with the very-married-to-Beyonce rap guru.
Fagan was tweeting about cheaters, posting: “‘You are all thick if u think just because someone’s absolutely stunning they won’t get cheated on…Cheryl Cole? No relationship is perfect.”
She then launched an attack on Ora, saying, “I’ve been told to say that Rita Ora has been ALLEGEDLY ***** Jay Z! I repeat ALLEGEDLY.”
Who told her to say that and why?
Ora’s response tweets have since been deleted, but she fired back fast and furiously.
You can see the tweet heat here. We’re not sure why Fagan chose to stir this pot, but she did.
Ora basically said she says silent on rumors but couldn’t do it any longer, referring to Fagan as a “Z-lister” who is seeking attention by speaking about her and her family. She only responded due to the ridiculousness of the claims.

The moment Kanye West announced that his lady love Kim Kardashian was expecting their first child, fans around the world started to wonder what the happy couple will call their bundle of joy.
SoCelebuzzspoke exclusively to Jennifer Moss, author of The One-In-A-Million Baby Name Book, to weigh in on what’s really in a name for the newest addition to the Kardashian clan — and answer the big question: Will “K” play a key part in the moniker?
“Kim and Kanye could very well pick a ‘K’ name,” said Moss, noting that Kim’s mother Kris Jenner famously named her daughters Kim, Kourtney, Khloe, Kylieand Kendall. “It’s a family tradition and baby-naming trend. Conveniently, Kanye is a part of the ‘K’ family as well.”
But regardless of the Kardashians’ immense popularity, the letter they helped make famous isn’t on top of the baby list.
“At the moment, the ‘K’ names aren’t so popular,” Moss said. “But those that are on the rise are Kayden for boys and Kayla and Keira for girls, like Keira Knightley.”
Although Kourtney, 33, decided to veer outside the family tradition — and the family tree — by naming her babies Mason and Penelope, her little sis and her baby-daddy could keep it all in the family.
“Kim and Kanye could include their parents when choosing their baby names, as many couples do to pay their respect,” Moss noted.
When choosing their baby’s name, Kimye should follow these ground rules from Moss, founder and CEO of babynames.com:
1. Make sure you see the name from the child’s point of view. 2. Don’t pick a name that will turn into a joke. If you’re not 100% sure that the name isn’t a laughfest, test it out by using it at a coffee shop — and gauging the barista’s reaction. 3. Don’t make the name something hard to pronounce. 4. If you’re looking for something unique, don’t use a name that’s popular. There could be 10 Owens in one kindergarten class. 5. Don’t forget about what the initials will spell — you don’t want to spell out something embarrassing.
Kim and Kanye, meanwhile, shouldn’t follow the advice of another famous duo: West’s BFF Jay-Zand his wife Beyonce. The name of their nearly one-year-old daughter, Blue Ivy, hasn’t fared well with fans — and was actually voted the No. 1 worst celebrity baby name.
“Many fans wrote that Ivy Blue would have been a better choice, because blue actually means depressed,” said Moss, who then gave some more advice in how to play the name game. “The general public does not respond well to noun names like Lion or Apple, or worse, an adjective and a noun.”

Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift, Kesha and Jay-Z were just a few of the artists who entertained live on New Year’s Eve 2013, adding that extra oomph to music fans’ blowout bashes or low-key hangouts at home. Psy (with M.C. Hammer), Rita Ora, Ne-Yo, Nicki Minaj and Coldplay also celebrated New Year’s Eve 2013 with live shows in the N.Y.C. area, but out of all these performers, which one was your favorite to watch on NYE 2013?
While mostly all of these New Year’s Eve performers rang in 2013 from New York City, Justin Bieber was busy holding it down for the West Coast. The ‘Beauty and a Beat’ crooner performed his latest ‘Believe’ hit from L.A. for ‘Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve,’ and even got an assist from Big Sean for ‘As Long as You Love Me.’
Meanwhile, across the U.S., Taylor Swift was smooching Harry Styles and singing for her fans in Times Square. The ‘Red’ chart-topper wore leather and sparkles while belting ‘I Knew You Were Trouble’ and ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together’ in the frigid cold. Closing things out in Times Square were Psy and M.C. Hammer, who teamed up to perform their mashup of ‘Gangnam Style’ (which Psy swore to retire) and ’2 Legit 2 Quit.’
Who else hit the stage in N.Y.C.’s Time Square before the big ball dropped? Carly Rae Jepsen, Pitbull and Flo Rida were also on hand for some end-of-year entertainment, getting the crowd pumped for 2013 with their 2012 hits. To no surprise, Ms. Jepsen played ‘Call Me Maybe’ live, giving us one last taste of the viral hit (along with ‘This Kiss’) before the New Year. And Pitbull did what he did best — got the party started. Mr. 305 had the temperatures rising with his medley of high-energy hits like ‘International Love’ and ‘Hey Baby.’ Finally, Flo closed things out with a set of uptempo hits like ‘Cry’ and ‘Whistle.’
Over yonder in Brooklyn, N.Y., Jay-Z was performing live with his buddies in Coldplay at the Barclays Center. While Chris Martin, Jonny Buckland, Guy Berryman and Will Champion kicked things off with a short set of their own tunes, with Hova later joining them for ‘Lost’ and ‘Heart of the City.’ On top of that, Jay performed his own set of 25 songs on New Year’s Eve 2013, showing love to the city where he was born and raised.
Meanwhile, at MTV, Kesha, Rita Ora and Ne-Yo performed at the media outlet’s Club New Year’s Eve bash. The ‘Warrior’ princess from Tennessee chose to perform her newest single ‘C’Mon,’ Rita fittingly sang ‘How We Do (Party)’ to ring in 2013, and Ne-Yo of course had to entertain the masses with his infectious party jam ‘Let Me Love You.’
Closing out the whole shebang is Nicki Minaj, who hosted her very own New Year’s Eve 2013 celebration at Pure nightclub in Las Vegas. Between costume changes and some champagne popping, the Harajuku Barbie performed a plethora of hits for the Barbz gathered in Sin City. ‘Turn Me On,’ ‘Starships’ and ‘Moment 4 Life’ were just a few of the jams Nicki performed while ringing in 2013.

Jay-Z joined forces with Coldplay on New Year’s Eve to ring in 2013 with a bang.
Coldplay opened the show, playing a full set amass with confetti, glowing bracelets and balloons throughout. The Day-Glo shades were a staple of their live shows for ‘Mylo Xyoto,’ and the crowd was delighted by the show. The band teamed up with Jigga on ‘Lost,’ sending the crowd into a steady roar throughout. Hova, happy to be in his hometown and his own arena, performed a 25-song set, donning a slick tux and getting vocal assistance from Bridget Kelly and Coldplay frontman — and BFF — Chris Martin.
