Which 2013 Album Are You Anticipating Most? – Readers Poll

2013 is shaping up to be a great year for music already. There are a lot of amazing new albums due out in 2013, and we’re eagerly awaiting the arrival of fresh tunes from a number of our favorite international divas, teen queens, boy bands, Brits, and big-time rappers. We’ve narrowed down the list of new releases for 2013 and we want to know which album you’re most excited about!

While many of the 2013 LPs remain unconfirmed, being that they are still in the developmental stages and/or are in the process of recording, it’s pretty much certain that Beyonce, Britney Spears, Mariah Carey, Katy Perry, Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez, Miley Cyrus and Avril Lavigne will dish out a serving of fresh jams this year. While all of these names have our ears perking, we cannot wait to hear what Beyonce, Brit, Mariah and Miley have in store, mostly because everything Bey and Brit touches turns to gold, and Mariah and Miley haven’t released new material in quite some time, so we’re anxious to see how their sound has morphed over these years.

The aforementioned vocalists may have ‘TBA’ as their titles for now, but one album name that has been confirmed is Lady Gaga‘s highly-anticipated ‘ARTPOP.’ Mama Monster has been teasing her latest musical masterpiece for months now, and the two-volume, “risky” LP is sure to be intriguing (Gaga called it an “assault on your ears ) and one of the biggest releases of 2013.

Another superstar artist that has confirmed their album title is Justin Bieber, who is dropping the acoustic version of his ‘Believe’ LP in Jan. 2013. And speaking of heartthrobs… Jonas Brothers have a new album due out 2013, which will likely include new songs like ‘Wedding Bells’ (which they wrote about Miley Cyrus). Also joining the list of  boy bands with new albums in 2013 are five-piece British-Irish act the Wanted, who will drop ‘Third Strike’ in 2013, as well as Backstreet Boys, who have reunited and will unleash their first album as a quintet since 2005!

Additionally, you can expect fresh tunes from Paramore (their self-titled LP expected to drop in April 2013), Jessie J, Rita Ora, ASAP Rocky (‘LongLiveAsap’ will be officially released in Jan. 2013), Nicki Minaj (‘Pink Friday: The Pinkprint’), Azealia Banks (‘Broke With Expensive Taste’) and Lil Wayne (‘I Am Not a Human Being II’). Finally, we’d be surprised not to hear a new batch of tracks from Eminem, Jay-Z and Kanye West, who have all been in the studio as of late.

Check out this list of upcoming releases for 2013 and vote for the artist you’re most excited to hear new songs from!

Eminem vs. Justin Timberlake: Who Has the Hottest Shirtless Bod? – Readers Poll

Eminem Justin Timberlake
Tumblr (2)

OK, first things first: All of these pictures are circa 2002-2003, when both Eminem and Justin Timberlake were at the top of their game and their shirtless bodies were plastered everywhere. But it’s worth noting that their bodies look almost exactly the same (see some of Em’s ‘Recovery’ promos and JT in ‘Friends With Benefits’) as they did nearly a decade ago.

Alas, these newer images didn’t provide enough insight into what kind of shape these men are in, hence the reason you’re drooling over old-school Em and ‘Cry Me a River’ Justin. So, after checking out both of these hunks, which one gets your vote for the hottest shirtless bod?

Let’s compare and contrast. Both Eminem and Justin Timberlake were obviously hitting the gym hard prior to these snapshots, as the men look like Greek gods with their chiseled abs and killer biceps. On the other, the ‘Without Me’ rapper (hey, we’re in the early ’00s now, remember?!) has a much stockier figure than the former ‘N Sync crooner, who has a more slender build.

There’s really no question that Eminem and JT are both quite bang-able, but whose bod gets you the most hot and bothered? Get your fans out and take a good hard look, then vote for your favorite shirtless hottie below!

Skylar Grey + Eminem Take ‘C’mon Let Me Ride’ Video to the Trailer Park

Skylar Grey is the queen of the trailer park in her new Eminem-assisted video ‘C’mon Let Me Ride,’ which features the singer-songwriter portraying a flannel-wearing hellraiser, an evil plastic surgeon, and a polka-dot-loving girl apparently modeled after Katy Perry.

We’re pretty sure when Grey sings, “Come on let me ride your bicycle,” she’s not referring to an actual two-wheeler, but she plays up that lyric throughout the clip by riding a bike with deer antlers for handlebars throughout her backwoods neighborhood. She tries to play the role of scorned outsider when she rides past a group of bikini-clad girls from the “in” crowd, but we’re not buying it, because Gray looks just as hot in her short shorts.

Eminem makes a cameo, which is only fair, since Grey co-wrote his smash ‘Love the Way You Lie.’ Slim Shady delivers a typically campy comedic performance that ends with the rapper towing a kiddie pool full of ladies from the trailer park.

Say What?! Eminem’s Daughter Did Not Attack Taylor Swift on Twitter

Hey, remember all that stuff from a couple of days ago about Eminem‘s daughter Hailie Jade Mathers allegedly declaring social media war on Taylor Swift‘s relationship with Harry Styles of One Direction? Turns out it was all a Twitter hoax.

The story has been debunked by Eminem’s manager, Paul Rosenberg, whose job apparently now includes stopping whatever he’s doing every few months and issuing public statements reminding everyone that the 16-year-old hip-hop scion does not, in fact, have a Twitter account — as he did back in May, when he pleaded, “Again everyone, for the last time, Hailie does NOT have a Twitter account. Please stop asking if whatever account is real.”

Sadly, Rosenberg’s “for the last time” was not the last time, as he was recently forced to respond to the alleged Haylor/Hailie brouhaha. “This isn’t real either,” he wrote, presumably after pinching the bridge of his nose and letting out a good, long sigh. “Never will be. Sorry.”

Now that we’ve had the cold water of reality thrown on our latest would-be celebrity feud, we can get back to the important things in life, like taking sides in the ongoing boy band war between One Direction and the Wanted or wondering if this Blue Ivy Carter account we’ve been following is real. (JUST KIDDING.)

Eminem’s Daughter Hailie Irate With Taylor Swift for Dating Harry Styles of One Direction

Looks like everyday Directioners aren’t the only fans peeved about Haylor. Eminem‘s daughter, Hailie Jade Mathers, is pretty irked at the coupling — and she took to Twitter to voice her outrage at Taylor Swift dating One Direction‘s Harry Styles.

After photos of the pair holding hands surfaced, the stunning Mathers posted, “if @taylorswift13 is really dating the love of my life @Harry_Styles i will not be happy.!” Welp, guess what? She’s not happy.

She added, “Dear @taylorswift13, please stop whoring around with every guy you see. We all know you’re only doing it so you can make another album.” One final jab? “I, am never, ever, everrrrr, listening to your music againnnn @taylorswift13. LIKE EVER.”

Mathers isn’t the only person devastated by the news of the coupling. Most Directioners are displeased with Haylor’s existence. MTV compiled a slew of down-in-the-dumps 1D fan reactions to the coupling, and ONTD found one particular gem that shows a pattern in Swift’s dating choices (hint: they seem calculated).

The common thread amongst Haylor haters? They all want Hazza to themselves — and they’re going to be very, very mad if Swift ever writes a mean song about him. Like, ever.

50 Cent Will Only Accept Criticism From Eminem

There are a lot of things 50 Cent will do — including offer you advice, shovel your snow and/or date Chelsea Handler — but one thing he won’t do is accept criticism of his music, unless the person giving it happens to be Eminem.

50 shared this tidbit during a joint interview with Eminem for MTV, during which the duo discussed their past together as well as 50′s upcoming album, ‘Street King Immortal,’ currently scheduled for a February release (although we all know how these things can change). “I can’t accept constructive criticism from someone if I’m not sure what their intentions are,” he pointed out. “But when someone’s been in my corner my entire musical career — I’ll say this, [Dr.] Dre‘s done wonderful things for me in my career, but the idea of working with 50 Cent came from Eminem.”

For his part, Eminem suggested that while he enjoys working with his protege, his input isn’t really all that necessary. “I feel like I always wanna be there, just to executive produce or oversee things, but Fif knows what he’s doing so I don’t really gotta tell him much,” he insisted. “At this point in his career, he’s done enough — he just brings me the record and I kinda always wanna give my opinion.”

That’s more than enough for 50, who countered Eminem’s modesty by adding, “He’s been a huge help on this album … He said, ‘when you tell a story, you tell it in a way nobody else can tell it, so just do that, to speak to your attributes when you’re actually writing.’ And then I’ll walk away from the situation and even if it doesn’t happen that night, I’m conscious of it.”

Big Sean Hopes to Collaborate with Eminem on ‘Hall of Fame’ Album

Big Sean, who plans to release his second album ‘Hall of Fame: Memoirs of a Detroit Player’ in 2013, teases that he has some great features on the upcoming LP. However, the ‘Finally Famous’ rapper is still trying get fellow Detroit spitfire Eminem for his project.

“Eminem isn’t a part of it yet, hopefully. Maybe he can be, maybe he can’t. Sooner or later, we’ll see,” Sean tells Urban Fusions TV (translated by HipHopDX). “I think all those other people are on it and all the features I got on it were because they really added in an accent to the song, not just ’cause who they are.”

“I think it’s going to be a monumental point in my career and I don’t want to talk it up or brag about it or whatever, but just check it out when it comes out,” he continues. “Hopefully, you’ll like it. And if you don’t like it, who gives a f—, man.”

A Big Sean-Eminem collaboration would be a hot song if it does happen. We can’t see why it wouldn’t come to fruition for the G.O.O.D. Music artist. Em has been jumping on a lot of singles lately: Slim Shady can be heard on Skylar Grey‘s naughty tune ‘Come On Let Me Ride‘ and he appears in 50 Cent‘s ‘My Life‘ video. So come on Em, help a fellow Detroit player out.

In the meantime, Big Sean is performing a special hometown concert in Detroit on Dec. 1. Also appearing at the event are fellow Michigan rappers Danny Brown and John Connor. “This is for my city,” Big Sean said in a press release.

Favorite Song Featuring Eminem – Readers Poll

On his own, Eminem has released seven studio albums, six EPs, four compilation albums, one soundtrack and more than 30 singles — so it’s safe to say that the Detroit rapper has had a more than solid solo career.

Even though he’s widely regarded as one of the best rappers around, Em is more than willing to share to love with featured spots on other artists’ songs, especially some of his favorite hip-hop and pop artists. From collabos with Pink and Nicki Minaj to duets with deceased rappers like the Notorious B.I.G., Em’s covered lots of ground with his features… But which track (of the 10 we’ve chosen) featuring Marshall Mathers is your favorite?

Right as Eminem started to get big in the late ’90s, a revamped version of Biggie Smalls’ ‘Dead Wrong’ started making its rounds, and Eminem really packs a punch with his murderous rhymes about Devil worshipping and torture. Not too long after the release of ‘Dead Wrong,’ Em teamed up with another rap great, his mentor Dr. Dre, for ‘Forgot About Dre.’ The Grammy-winning track is still one of the dynamic duo’s best collaborative efforts, as Em and Dre spit ruthless, rapid-fire lines at all of their haters.

Half a decade later, in 2006, Eminem lent his sharp tongue to Akon‘s oversexualized earworm ‘Smack That,’ an ode to bumpin’, grindin’ and booty slappin’. Following the commercial success of the club-ready song, Em took some time off to seek treatment for his struggle with addiction. After a stint in rehab and taking some personal time off, he was back in the feature game in 2009 with a spot on Drake‘s powerful posse track ‘Forever,’ also featuring Kanye West and Lil Wayne. It’s this feature that probably also led Em to rejoin Weezy for ‘Drop the World,’ a rock-influenced single off of Tunechi’s ‘Rebirth’ album.

More recently, Em has teamed up with Nicki Minaj for some smack talking on ‘Roman’s Revenge,’ a diss track targeted at Minaj’s nemesis Lil Kim. He also rejoined Dr. Dre for the hypnotizing ‘I Need a Doctor,’ featuring Skylar Grey, and met up with his ‘Won’t Back Down’ duet partner Pink for her ‘Truth About Love’ track ‘Here Comes the Weekend.’ In 2012, he’s also recorded features for 50 Cent‘s ’My Life,’ which also features Adam Levine on crooning duties, and Skylar Grey, for her overtly sexual ditty ‘C’Mon Let Me Ride.’

Out of these 10 tracks featuring Eminem, which tune keeps you pressing the ‘repeat’ button and which song could you live without? Cast your vote below and leave a comment explaining why you chose that Em-featured track.

Skylar Grey Feat. Eminem, ‘Come On Let Me Ride’ – Song Review

Skylar Grey
Cornerstone Agency

Anyone remember Holly Brook (the “Hafermann” was silent)? The angelic-voiced chanteuse who sang the hook on Fort Minor’s ‘Where’d You Go’ and released an underrated, underappreciated album called ‘Like Blood Like Honey?’ No? Hm.

Then maybe you remember the ever-so-slightly gothic Skylar Grey, who sang the hook on Dr. Dre‘s ‘I Need a Doctor,’ co-wrote Eminem and Rihanna‘s Grammy winning ‘Love the Way You Lie’ and Diddy Dirty Money’s ‘Coming Home.’ She was pretty cool, right? Then … something happened.

We’re not sure what transformed Grey into a white trash icon, but here she is on ‘Come On Let Me Ride,’ a song that bastardizes the Queen classic ‘Bicycle Race’ and will make you forget who Skylar — or Holly or whoever — was before.

The track opens with Grey cooing, “If you got a sweet tooth / You can taste my watermelons.” Dude, seriously? The hook is just as subtle: “Come on let me ride your bicycle / So fantastical / On your bicycle / We can get a little more physical / Baby, after all, it’s only natural.

The problem is, of course, that it’s not natural at all. Evolution is natural, not going under the knife and revamping everything that you ever were. The entire song, the entire new Grey persona — Hafermann’s third reinvention so far — strives for free spirited and fun (she even went blonde and insists, “I’m just f—in’ with you!”). At one point, Grey appears to be in on the joke: “It’s like I’m a sellout for you.” But more than anything, it just feels incredibly forced and a little desperate: Just because she admits she’s selling, it doesn’t mean we’re lining up to buy.

As for Eminem’s verse, the man can usually do no wrong, but there’s nothing he can do to save this. Though his single and double entendres are witty, his utter abuse of Freddie Mercury’s infamous ode to handlebars and uncomfortable seats may actually be what finally sinks this ship completely.

Sure, the hook is catchy. But so are crabs. Do you want those?

50 Cent, Eminem + Adam Levine On the Run in ‘My Life’ Video

After premiering the song on ‘The Voice‘ Monday night (Nov. 27), 50 Cent premiered his new video for ‘My Life’ on MTV. The song features Adam Levine singing the hook and a guest verse from his buddy Eminem.

Directed by Rich Lee, the clip features Fiddy, Em and Levine on the run from national security agents who have them under surveillance. It’s kind of like that Will Smith movie, ‘Enemy of the State,’ but with a funky hip-hop beat as its soundtrack.

The song, produced by the Symbolyc One, featuring the classic sampled drum break of the 1973 record ‘Synthetic Substitution’ by the late Melvin Bliss. Most recently, Kanye West sampled the beat for Pusha T‘s street banger ‘New God Flow.’

On the track, 50 Cent reflects on his struggles of trying to regain his footing in the rap game but vows to climb his way back to the top. “I’m far from perfect, there’s so many lessons I done learned / If money is evil look at all the evil I done earned / I’m doing what I’m supposed to, I’m a writer, I’m a fighter / Entrepreneur fresh out the sewer, watch me maneuver,” he raps.

Eminem follows with his diabolical rhymes warning naysayers to not get in his way or he’ll pluck their eyeballs out. “I done put my blood, my sweat and my tears in this s— / F— letting up, you’re gonna end up regretting you ever betted against me,” he spits.

After premiering the video, 50 announced on Twitter that his oft-delayed fifth album, Street King Immortal,’ will hit stores on Feb. 26. The LP went through a variety of setbacks before releasing the singles, ‘New Day’ and the Too $hort-assisted ‘First Date.’
