Elizabeth Banks Welcomes Her Second Baby Boy, Magnus

It’s a boy for The Hunger GamesElizabeth Banks; she is now a mother twice over after son Magnus was recently born. After welcoming her first child with her husband of nine years, producer Max Handelman, via gestational surrogate in March 2011, the couple opted to have another earlier this year via the same process.

Elizabeth says on her website, ”As 2012 winds down and Thanksgiving approaches, I have much for which to be thankful — personal, professional, and Presidential. However, nothing can match the joy and excitement my husband and I felt when we recently welcomed our second baby boy, Magnus Mitchell Handelman.”

She continues, “Magnus joins older brother Felix, thus commencing a decade or more of close hand-to-hand combat. Like Felix, Magnus was born via gestational surrogate. This experience has exceeded all expectations, taught us a great deal about generosity and gratitude, and established a relationship that will last a lifetime. I am also so very thankful to our family and friends for their support throughout this process, as well as the Center for Surrogate Parenting for helping make all this possible. I now turn my attention to managing two boys under two. For which I am thankful. And all their poop. For which I am less thankful. Wish me luck.”

The 38-year-old actress is currently filming the sequel to The Hunger GamesCatching Fire, which we recently learned from Jennifer Lawrence would be moving production from Atlanta to Hawaii. Though Elizabeth doesn’t mention where little Magnus will be during shooting, we’re sure Max, who was one of the producers for Surrogates (ironic name) and Pitch Perfect (which Elizabeth starred in), will take on the parental reins.

Make sure to wish Elizabeth a healthy congratulations in the comments, and join the THG sequel conversation on our Catching Fire message board!

Jennifer Lawrence Is The New Face Of Dior!

‘Pitch Perfect’ Star Rebel Wilson to Elizabeth Banks: Put Me in ‘Hunger Games’ (VIDEO)

Rebel Wilson stars in the upcoming comedy Pitch Perfect, and the Australian native delivers another amazing comedic performance. However, it seems she gets into just as much hilarious trouble off screen, too!

Fresh off the success of Bridesmaids, Wilson revealed that she really is living with her onscreen roommate Matt Lucas in West Hollywood, and they haven’t exactly gotten a warm reception from their neighbors.

Read on to find out what the anonymous neighbor has done now, plus why Wilson wants in on Hunger Games:

“Yeah, okay we had some eggs thrown for some kind of retaliation,” Wilson laughed.

Rebel recently appeared on Conan O’Brien where she showed a letter from an “anonymous” neighbor who threatened to call the cops on her and Matt if they didn’t stop singing show tunes after 10 p.m.

Hasn’t he or she seen the previews for Pitch Perfect? Rebel’s just keeping those vocal chords strong!

“We are assuming it’s the same person who wrote us the letter,” Rebel said. “I would just like to call a truce, seriously. Lets all just love each other.”

Rebel Wilson stars in a capella comedy (that is a hit with the critics) which opens nationwide this Friday. Elizabeth Banks is a producer on the film and wanted Wilson to play “Fat Amy” from day one.

“Put me in Hunger Games then if you think I’m good,” Wilson joked. “Seriously, what’s up Banks?”

‘Pitch Perfect’s’ Elizabeth Banks Slams Deadline’s Nikki Finke for Writing ‘Beautiful Actresses Are Not Funny’

Elizabeth Banks has a bone to pick with Nikki Finke after the Deadline editor-in-chief complained about Modern Family star Julie Bowen’s win for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series at this year’s Primetime Emmy Awards.

“Beautiful actresses are not funny. They don’t know how to do comedy,” Finke wrote on Sunday night, adding that Bowen “isn’t a comedienne just like Brooke Shields wasn’t and a zillion more.”

The following day, Banks, 38, posted a rebuttal, titled “Ugly or Pretty Has Nothing to do With Funny,” on her own website.

“Wouldn’t it be great if older, more experienced women like Ms. Finke were kinder to her fellow females in the entertainment business?” Banks wrote.

“She might do more for our cause — better, more fully realized roles in all types of entertainment, which is the territory all these amazing Emmy-nominated actresses are striving for.”

What other words did the Pitch Perfect star have for Finke?

“I agree ‘humiliation’ can be funny,” Banks continued in her rebuttal this week, “but it is not a state of being reserved solely for the ugly, whatever that means to Nikki Finke.”

Banks gave a shout out out 30 Rock actress Kay Cannon and called her “a gorgeous woman with a wicked sense of humor. Cannon is also the brains behind the Pitch Perfect script.

In her Emmys rant on Sunday, Finke also referred to a 30 Rock star: Tina Fey.

Finke wrote, “Only women who grew up ugly and stayed ugly, or through plastic surgery became beautiful, can pull off sitcoms or standups,” using Fey as a prime example.

“[Fey] always points out she looked like a troglodyte when she was younger,” according to Finke.

‘Pitch Perfect’ Cast Supports Elizabeth Banks: Women Can Be Beautiful and Funny (EXCLUSIVE VIDEO)

Nikki Finke upset many comedic actresses in Hollywood Sunday night when she blogged beautiful women can’t be funny. ”Only women who grew up ugly, and stayed ugly…can pull off sitcoms or standups,” wrote the industry mogul after Julie Bowen’s Emmy win.

Hunger Games star Elizabeth Banks then responded to Finke on her own blog, writing ugly or pretty has “nothing” to do with being funny.

At the premiere for Banks’ latest film Pitch Perfect in Hollywood Monday night, the cast and crew rallied behind Elizabeth in agreement:

“I think funny is sexy, so even if you’re not conventionally the most beautiful person if you’re really funny it ups your sexy points, honestly!” star Adam DeVine responded.

“Elizabeth Banks, not so tough on the eyes either and hilarious,” chimed in Skylar Astin. ”I think one of the most attractive things in a woman is someone who has a sense of humor.”

Continued Astin:

I think Nikki Finke is a really smart woman and I trust her opinion on a lot of things, but I wonder why she made that assumption, because I don’t really agree.”

“That’s fantastic Elizabeth!” writer Kay Cannon said, adding she would “absolutely disagree” with Finke, citing Tina Fey, Amy Poehler and Julia Louis-Dreyfus as examples.

“What is beautiful?” pondered Kat. “Lets talk about that for a second!”

Readers chime in: are you Team Banks or Team Finke? Tell us in the comments.

Eva Longoria, Jessica Alba and Kal Penn: Stars Show Support at Democratic National Convention (GALLERY)

Celebrities are flocking to Charlotte, N.C., in a bid of support for this week’s Democratic National Convention.

But President Barack Obama‘s typical big-name backers — such as George Clooney, Oprah Winfrey and Matt Damon — are notably absent this year. But many stars are still rallying behind their party, pushing for Obama to win four more years in the White House.

Of course, Eva Longoria, a co-chair of the president’s reeelction campaign, is among the celebrities making the rounds. As is Kal Penn, the “Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle” actor who used to work in the White House Office of Public Engagement. He addressed the crowd in a comedic speech on Tuesday.

So instead of the other usual suspects, who else in Hollywood is showing their political persuasions?

For his live-streaming coverage of the event for, Penn was joined by a few big-screen stars, such as Elizabeth Banks and Olivia Wilde.

Some were tapped for appearances — Glee‘s Amber Riley performed Tuesday and the Foo Fighters, James Taylor, Marc Anthony and others took the stage on Thursday. Meanwhile, others were just in attendance to soak up the pro-Obama atmosphere, like Rosario Dawson, Zach Braff and John Leguizamo. And Jessica Alba and husband Cash Warren are in town to host a closing party.

But are there still some surprise appearances on the horizon as the convention nears its close? CNN reports that Natalie Portman, Scarlett Johansson and Kerry Washington are expected to speak Thursday night.

Check out all the star-studded crowds at the DNC in our gallery.
