NBC’s ‘The Voice’ Unveils First Shots of New Coaches Shakira and Usher (PHOTOS)

the-voice-season-4-promo-shots

Shakira and Usher look pretty comfy in their new coaching roles in NBC’s new promo shots for the fourth season of The Voice.

Getting fans excited for the next season, the stars take their place in the big, red swivel chairs – replacing Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green — alongside veteran judges Adam Levine and Blake Shelton.

The chemistry already seems to be brewing on-set with the foursome, and Levine may even have a new co-star to banter with — even though he will miss Aguilera’s ball-busting.

“I’m going to miss him,” the “Your Body” songstress told Celebuzz. “He’ll miss me too. Nobody can bust his balls like me.”

“It’s bittersweet,” Aguilera added at the show’s live finale, which crowned Cassadee Pope as the Season 3 winner. “I’m not going to lie, watching the footage – the happy birthday wishes – the guys, we have a lot of fun and a lot of laughs and we bicker, we love each other like family, like brothers and sisters.”

In September, The Voice announced that they renewed two more seasons of reality singing competition series and that singers Usher, 33, and Shakira would replace Green, 38, and Aguilera, 32, as coaches for the show’s fourth season until the original two return to their seats (after pursuing their own musical projects).

The new panel of coaches will make their Voice debut when Season 4 premieres on March 25 on NBC.

Cee Lo Green’s Backstage Rider Is a Buffet That Will Destroy His Diet

Cee Lo Green
Mark Davis, Getty Images

Cee Lo Green made a New Year’s pledge to adopt a healthier lifestyle with the help of his partnership with eDiets. Well, judging by his backstage rider (the big reveal by TheSmokingGun.com), he’s not going to make good on his promise.

In the document, Green’s backstage food demands resemble a buffet menu at the Golden Corral. Among his requirements include rotating dinners of fish, rib-eye steaks and baked tuna depending on the day of the week. The ‘Voice‘ judge also requests “baked lobster and macaroni cheese” and “24 fried jumbo shrimps” and “24 sautéed jumbo shrimps” as well.

Green’s libations of choice are bottles of Ciroc vodka, Patron, Hennessy and cases of sodas, Corona and Grolsch beer. Oh, and for dessert, the crooner wants sweet potato pie and peach cobbler. Mmm, mmm good!

Now, we don’t think all of this food is for Green, himself, however, none of it is particularly healthy. The quantities of liquor alone will pack on the pounds — and let’s not get into the 48 different pieces of cooked shrimp.

If Green plans to stick to his diet he’s not going to be successful with this high-caloric rider. In comparison, Nicki Minaj‘s tour rider is much healthier than Green’s, although there are a few guilty pleasures on it (12-piece buckets of spicy fried chicken — we see you Queen Barbz!).

In the end, we still wish Green the best of luck on his weight-loss journey with eDiets. We can’t wait to see the new and improved (and hopefully svelter) crooner in 2013.

Cee Lo Green Getting Healthy with eDiets Partnership

Cee Lo Green is a huge star both literally and figuratively. So the former ‘Voice’ judge is getting on the health kick in 2013 with his new partnership with eDiets. “My goal for #2013 is to make #health a habit — who’s gonna join me?” tweeted the crooner.

In a press release, Green says his partnership with eDiets was his way of making health a habit in the New Year. “When I decided to make this commitment to myself, I needed a program that would work with my nonstop lifestyle, and eDiets has made it easy and convenient to make health a priority between recording new music, constant traveling and being a father,” he states.

He’ll also receive an upfront fee, royalties and stock options for pitching the product for a minimum of two years. Making money while losing weight — sounds like a sweet diet plan to us!

So what the heck is eDiets? From what we gather it’s an online/home delivery nutrition service that boasts two million active members. It’s sort of Weight Watchers for the Internet sect — those of us who eat junk food while surfing the web. (Don’t front, we all do it.)

“I chose eDiets because it works,” said Green in the video clip. The Grammy Award-winning singer hopes to be a better version of himself with the service. Honestly, we kind of love the portly guy just the way he is.

Either way, we can’t wait to see his transformation into a more sveltely Cee Lo Green. It will be interesting to see how his swag changes once he’s able to squeeze his butt into some skinny jeans.

With New Year’s Eve approaching, we are happy that Green is adopting a healthy resolution to lose weight. Good luck!

Cee Lo Green Plans to Return to ‘The Voice’ for Season 5

Don’t get any ideas, Usher. Your job is to keep the chair warm on ‘The Voice‘ judging panel in Season 4 so that Cee Lo Green can return to claim it for Season 5. Green said on the ‘Today’ show Thursday (Dec. 20) that his absence from the popular singing competition show will be temporary.

“Let’s be straight about this, ladies and gentlemen. I’m not leaving ‘The Voice,’” he insisted. “I’ll be back for Season 5. I’m going on hiatus.” What’s prompting the eccentric singer to take some time off from the hit show? “I’m doing a Las Vegas residency next year,” he explained. Cee Lo and Vegas sound made for each other, but we’ll take his word that he’s going to end the residency to come back to ‘The Voice.’

Cee Lo isn’t the only one leaving ‘The Voice’ on a temporary basis. Christina Aguilera is also skipping Season 4. Her replacement, Shakira, will join Usher and original judges Blake Shelton and Adam Levine to mentor the aspiring singers in the spring.

Green has not been able to guide any of his proteges to victory in the first three editions of ‘The Voice,’ but he felt that Nicholas David deserved to win this past season, when Cassadee Pope claimed the crown instead. “I really did think that my Nicholas did have a very strong chance, and I do believe that he should have won,” Cee Lo said. “Cassadee is really talented, so we also congratulate her as well.”

‘The Voice’s’ Nicholas David Talks His Show Stopping Performances: Mini Cee Lo and a Piano on Fire (VIDEO)

Many fans of NBC’s The Voice wouldn’t have thought that soulful singer, Nicholas David, would have made it this far in the competition. But there he was on Monday, performing his heart out on his final performances of Season 3 alongside fellow finalists Cassadee Pope and Terry McDermott.

David tore up the stage during the performance finale, so much so that his coach Cee Lo Green told him, “Your fire burned this house down.”

The father of two was having arguably the most fun of all three finalists as he performed three tunes: a medley of “Great Balls Of Fire/Fire,” a repeat performance of “Lean On Me” and a duet with Green on “Play That Funky Music White Boy.”

The duet was one of the definitive highlights of the Monday finale as the duo were joined on stage by a mini-Cee Lo with some killer dance moves.

“Cee Lo had an idea and then we saw him online and then within the next day, he was here in person,” David told reporters about the mini-me’s appearance after Monday’s show. “And I was like ‘Man, you can make things happen.”

“Play The Funky Music…” wasn’t the only epic performance “The Feeling” — as David is referred to — put on during the show though. He also played a hot medley of Jerry Lee Lewis’ “Great Balls Of Fire” and Jimi Hendrix’s “Fire” complete with a flaming piano.

David revealed that while it was his choice to mesh the two songs together because of their similar beats, the fire-lit instrument was all his coach’s idea.

So which performance did David think was his best on Monday night?

“I think all of them truly, because each one was kind of like this pyramid of what I feel like is here,” said the 31-year-old. “Since doing this show and before this show, [just] listening to Cee Lo and like wanting to play with him — to be able to do that and have that come to fruition, have that be a reality, is amazing because that’s something I wanted to do since day one of this show.”

On his other performances, he continued, “To do ‘Lean On Me’ was really cool – to revisit that – it was a very defining moment of who I am as a musician and an artist not just a singer. Then with the ‘Fire’ one, I felt [that] after last week’s performance being so emotionally raw, open, stripped down, I was like I got to end on the ups.”

The winner of The Voice will be revealed on the live Season 3 finale at 9 PM on NBC. Tune in at 8 PM for a 60-minute recap of Monday’s episode.

‘The Voice’ Performance Finale: 10 Things You Didn’t See on TV (VIDEO)

The finalists’ performances are done and the votes and iTunes purchases will now be counted to determine the winner on NBC’s The Voice.

Cassadee Pope, Nicholas David, and Terry McDermott all performed three songs on the last performance show of Season 3 Monday night. In addition to their competition songs, the singers each performed their breakout song –- from a previous performance – and a duet with their coach.

The three finalists also came together with coaches Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green and fellow Top 20 contestants to perform a moving and powerful tribute to the victims of the Sandy Hook School Shooting in Newtown, Conn. With a candle lit for each victim, they took the stage to perform a gorgeous rendition of Leonard Cohen’s “Halleluiah” each holding the name of one of the deceased.

Celebuzz was once again in the audience for the episode, to get you the behind-the-scenes scoop on the final night of performances. Here are 10 things you didn’t see on TV:

1. The coaches performed. Pre-taped performances have been a big part of The Voice all season. Often when there is a musical guest, the show will pre-tape their performance to make the live show run smoother. On Monday, the coaches performed Green Day’s “Time of Your Life” which will open Tuesday’s finale. They performed the song twice for the crowd before the show went live. But the very first time they attempted the performance, Shelton messed up the words. Aguilera joked to producers, “Take the red cup away from him.”

2. A moving moment. Also pre-recorded was the touching tribute to Newtown mentioned above. The crew made sure the performance was perfect, polishing the candleholders for almost a minute before “Halleluiah” started. The warm-up guy instructed the crowd for silence as the group performed the song twice. We were also informed that the decision for this performance was decided Monday morning. On a side note, watching this live absolutely destroyed me and some others in the crowd. Many tissues were needed.

3. Even the contestants are fans. Sitting at the top of our section was much of the Top 20. Though photography isn’t really allowed inside the studio, we saw Rudy Parris take out his camera to snap a shot.

4. Carson Daly is a fun host. Not only did we catch Daly singing along to Nicholas David’s performance of “Lean on Me” but we also saw him dancing to one of Aguilera’s tunes playing over the speakers.

5. Jokesters. There was a funny moment between Carson and Blake while Terry McDermott’s package was playing on the screen. As the host went over to talk to the country star, they laughed and played with Shelton pretending to put his hands around Daly’s neck.

6. Give me the mic. Everytime a contestant gets off the stage, there’s a man waiting for them who takes their mic and gets it ready for the next performance. His job is literally to take their microphone away.

7. Christina loves her feet. If you’ve ever seen how tall Xtina’s heels are, then you probably wouldn’t be surprised that she sometimes lets her feet be free and goes sans shoes on set. But that’s not the only tidbit we have on her tootsies – the Your Body singer was also seen getting a foot rub during a commercial break.

8. Terry’s son is the cutest.McDermott’s wife and son were both in the live studio audience on Monday and little Liam was looking adorable. Decked in a mini-Blake outfit with a white button down shirt and vest, Liam and the warm up guy talked about his Dad’s success and their visit to Shelton’s “humongous” house.

9. Christina loves her fans. Still barefoot, the singer headed over to the pit to sign copies of her CDs for a few lucky fans.

10. Who’s cuter? There were a lot of great kid comments during the commercial breaks. Our favorite? When the warm up guy asked a 10-year-old if she thought Blake was cuter than Adam and she said, “Hmm, I don’t know.”

The finale of The Voice airs tomorrow at 9 PM on NBC. Monday night’s episode will be replayed in a 60-minute edition at 8 PM.

Cee Lo Green Brings ‘What Christmas Means to Me’ to ‘Ellen’

Cee Lo Green brought some yuletide cheer to ‘Ellen’ when he treated viewers to a live performance of ‘What Christmas Means to Me,’ a lively track from his holiday album ‘Cee Lo’s Magic Moment.’

The ‘Voice‘ judge is known for his sometimes outrageous costumes, but he left the Santa suit at home and showed up in a plain white t-shirt instead. He had a huge grin on his face as he sang the often-covered holiday tune backed up by his live band. Cee Lo wailed, “Deck the halls with holly / Sing sweet Silent Night / Fill the trees with angel hair / And pretty, pretty lights.”

We like seeing Cee Lo sing with the Muppets, but even on his own he brings a winning Christmas spirit.

Nicholas David Gets Soulful With ‘Fire,’ ‘Lean on Me’ + ‘Play That Funky Music’ on ‘The Voice’

Kicking off the first new performance of the night on ‘The Voice‘ was Nicholas David, the own-home family man who has made it no secret that he’s doing this for the benefit of his family. It’s something fans and viewers alike have come to respect and seem to love, because he certainly didn’t get to the Top Three without the love of the fans.

David said goodbye to slow-tempo songs and opted to cause a stir by meshing two different songs together for his live performance: Jerry Lee Lewis’ ‘Great Balls of Fire’ and Jimi Hendrix‘s ‘Fire.’ It was an ambitious attempt to combine the two songs, but it worked, because not only was his energy fitting with the songs he was singing, but in typical ‘Voice’ fashion, the set featured flames of fire. But really though, those flames were so close to him, we were sweating just watching.

Judges Thoughts: Adam Levine appreciated that we got to see a different side of him, and especially loved how he took the time to entertain the crowd. Blake Shelton said it was “fun,” saying, “I am too glad you went there with it.” His coach felt that his “fire tonight burned this house down.”

Back for his second performance of the night, David sang a song he has already sung on the competition: ‘Lean On Me.’ What’s difficult about these contestants singing songs they’ve already performed on the show is that they sound exactly the same as they did the first time, making it super hard to critique. Therefore, we’ll say this: David’s unique and soulful song once again fit the song perfectly, and it was certainly more pleasing on the ears than on the eyes — the set was boring and simple, but we’d kind of expect that with this song.

David was joined by his coach for his final performance of the night, and being that Cee Lo is so awesomely outrageous, and David’s unique voice, we knew were in for a helluva performance.

Much like Blake Shelton’s footage, David’s wife, sons and parents accompanied him at Cee Lo’s place, and it was nice to hear thoughts from his parents on what made him get into singing in the first place.

Well, it was no surprise that the duo decided to sing ‘Play That Funky Music,’ because if that’s not up the alley of these two singers, then we don’t know what is.

Rocking some serious red sunglasses and matching pants, David started the song, but was one upped by his coach solely for his outfit, which consisted of what we could only imagine are zebra Jnco jeans and a matching top … which sparkled. Clothing aside, though, the performance was so much fun to watch and listen to, that we kind of forgot we were watching a singing competition.

The two jive so well together and genuinely seem to enjoy each other’s company, that it made for an enjoyable show, but the highlight was the mini Cee Lo who came out of nowhere, dancing in a matching outfit. What we thought was a special effect trick turned out to be just a young boy named Milo, who popped and locked in that same zebra outfit with the same sunglasses and stole the show.

We wouldn’t wanna follow that act!

Make sure you tune in tomorrow night to see who will be crowned season three’s winner of ‘The Voice!’

T.I. ‘Hello’ Feat. Cee Lo Green – Song Review

T.I. Hello Single
Atlantic

Rapper T.I. is saying ‘Hello’ to the haters on his new track, which is produced by Pharrell Williams and features Cee Lo Green on the hook. The smooth tune will appear on the Atlanta rapper’s upcoming album ‘Trouble Man: Heavy is the Head,’ which arrives in stores on Dec. 18.

Despite the laid-back productions on the song, T.I.’s verses are hard-hitting as ever as he reminds the naysayers he’s not looking at them, he looking past them — while driving his luxurious new car. “Mashin’ in the fast lane / Envy in my rearview / Mills in my windshield / Keep ‘em in a clear view,” he raps.

Green is in the passenger seat enjoying the ride and advises Tip to “Push that peddle to the max / Count the money in your lap / And put jealousy in your rearview.”

On the second verse, the Atlanta rhyme-slinger continues his boasts vowing to stay on his grind forever. “I hustle hard, forever shine / Pay haters no never mind / Won’t stop until we poppin’ bottles at the finish line,” he spits.

The song is a smooth departure from his usual trap music bounce and it gently caresses the ears with its melodic productions.

T.I. has several collaborative tracks on the ‘Trouble Man’ album including songs with Andre 3000 (‘Sorry’), Lil Wayne (‘Ball’), Pink (‘Guns and Roses’), R. Kelly (‘Can You Learn’) and A$AP Rocky (‘Wildside’).
