‘The Voice’ Winner Cassadee Pope Visits the ‘Tonight Show,’ Talks About Blake Shelton Rescuing Her

Cassadee Pope, the newly crowned winner of season three of ‘The Voice,’ was on hand at ‘The Tonight Show’ to talk about the long road she’s traveled since auditioning for the show to winning the title.

When asked if she’d like to take a rock or country approach to her music, Pope told Jay Leno she’d love to blend pop rock with country saying, “I feel like these days they go hand in hand and I’ve always wanted to crossover to country eventually.”

Before auditioning for ‘The Voice,’ Pope went on a solo acoustic tour where some nights only a handful of people were in the audience, which can be a bit defeating. Cassadee said it was those shows she would say, “Man, maybe I should just sit in the crowd and hang out. Why am I up here? Maybe we should just have a drink.”

Our favorite part of her winning story? In the media frenzy after she was crowned as the top dog on ‘The Voice,’ she said Blake Shelton came to her rescue. Did he ward off overbearing fans? Nope! Pope really had to go tinkle and Shelton told one pushy photog “I’m giving you until the count of 10 and when I finish, you have to let her go pee.” Good looks, Shelton!

Pope said of her coach, “He was like a proud papa. He was very nurturing.” Awww! We can’t wait to here the duet Shelton promised on Pope’s debut album.

Cassadee Pope is the newly crowned winner of ‘The Voice,’ and while the shock still hasn’t worn off, the singer is already talking about the direction of her forthcoming album.

Following the finale show on Tuesday (Dec. 18), the 22-year-old opened up about her sound. “I’ve always been writing, so I have a lot of material ready to go,” she told USA Today. “It’s going to be very uplifting, pop rock, maybe just a little hint of country in there. It’s going to be everything you’ve seen on the show, that ’90s, early 2000s feel, with a modern twist to it.”

We know at least one person who will be buying her album — ‘Voice’ coach Blake Shelton, who has promised to perform on the release. “She’s a great singer, she’s a beautiful girl and she’s a good person,” he gushed. “You know, there’s a lot of those out there in this world that are trying to make it, but Cassadee Pope has this little extra magic that God sprinkled on her that makes us all want to be around her and meet her and see her and talk to her.”

He added, “If you’re a guy, you have a crush on her. If you’re a girl, you want to be her best friend. She’s just a very special human being and she deserves this win.”

‘The Voice’ Coach Blake Shelton Isn’t ‘Surprised at all’ by Cassadee Pope’s Win (VIDEO)

Blake Shelton has got the goods when it comes to being a great coach on NBC’s The Voice.

On Tuesday’s third season finale of the reality show, two of the three remaining finalists – Terry McDermott and Cassadee Pope – belonged to Team Blake. And last year, the country crooner proved he was the coach to beat with surprise winner Jermaine Paul.

Now, with Season 3′s winner, Shelton has done it again, nabbing back-to-back wins.

On Tuesday night, Team Blake superstar and former Hey Monday singer, Cassadee Pope was crowned the competition’s winner,  thanks in large part to the incorporation of iTunes voting. The singer had two of her three songs from Monday’s final performance show swimming in the Top 10 on the download program, allowing her votes to count 10-fold.

“You know I’m feeling really like a million pounds have been lifted off my shoulders,” Shelton told Celebuzz about Pope’s win after the finale. “I’m not surprised at all by Cassadee winning this show because she’s been a fan favorite and a frontrunner on iTunes all along.”

“I think that probably is the most impressive thing about Cassadee – holding on to that momentum and not peaking too early,” he continued to gush. “She is somebody who is smart enough to figure out what people react to. She’s the type of artist that can be artistic and satisfy herself and also give the fans what they want. That’s what makes her a superstar. It truly is. You can say what you want to say but that’s the truth. She connects with her fans and she’s here for them and that’s why she won The Voice.”

When the popular singing competition show returns for Season 4 in March, coaches Shakira and Usher will be joining Shelton and fellow coach Adam Levine as Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green take a hiatus from the program.

But does Shelton think he could beat the newbies and win three times in a row?

“I don’t think I have a three-peat in me,” he paused. “I KNOW I have a three peat in me.”

“I think winning three of these in a row could be very damaging to Adam Levine’s ego and that’s what I live for,” joked the star.

‘The Voice’ Winner Cassadee Pope Talks Finale Night: ‘A Lot of Dreams Came True’ (VIDEO)

Season 3 of NBC’s The Voice has come to a close and a winner has been chosen.

Viewers waited patiently as the three finalists performed with their peers and idols during a star studded two-hour finale event. But in the end there could only be one victor and the announcement didn’t come as much of a surprise to fans keeping tabs on the iTunes charts.

Note: Spoilers ahead if you haven’t seen the Season 3 finale of The Voice.

As predicted by many, Cassadee Pope came away victorious on the finale of the reality show. Pope, who charted in multiple spots on the iTunes Top 10 following Monday night’s performances, told Celebuzz she was feeling “pretty damn good” after her big win.

The next two days are sure to be a non-stop whirlwind for the newly crowned Voice champion as she is set to make appearances on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Live! with Kelly and Michael and Today.

One of the best parts of the finale for Pope, was being able to perform with not one but two of her idols: Avril Lavigne and Kelly Clarkson.

“That was crazy,” she said of being able to perform with the stars during the broadcast. “Avril was so sweet. She knew that I’m a huge fan so I think she did a little research before she came. She watched my covers of ‘My Happy Ending’ and ‘I’m With You.’ She said she enjoyed them, which was really cool to hear.”

“Then Kelly Clarkson was the most down to earth, amazing person I’ve ever met,” Pope continued to gush. “She was like giving parts [of ‘Catch My Breath’] to me and Terry [McDermott] we weren’t originally supposed to have. She wanted to give us some more time so that was really cool. Overall, a lot of dreams came true tonight.”

And now that Pope has officially been declared the winner of The Voice, when can we expect to hear some original music from the pop star?

“I’m hoping January,” she said. “I’m going to hit the ground running right now. For Christmas, I’ll kick my feet back but I need to keep working. I need to keep up the momentum, which I’m really excited about, so hopefully January.”

‘The Voice’ Finale Results: Season 3′s Winner Is…

The winner has been chosen on Season 3 of NBC’s The Voice.

Contestants Cassadee Pope, Terry McDermott, and Nicholas David duked it out for the winning spot and the associated recording contract. Once again, iTunes played a big role in determining the winner of the reality show, with each download counting 10-fold.

Though a big winner was chosen, there were a ridiculous number of amazing performances on the two hour finale from the likes of Kelly Clarkson, Bruno Mars, Rihanna and The Killers. In addition, the finalists were each able to perform with one of their idols: Cassadee with Avril Lavigne, Terry with Peter Frampton and Nicholas with Smokey Robinson.

But enough of the show, let’s get to it, the winner of Season 3 is….

Note: Spoilers ahead if you haven’t seen the third season finale of The Voice.

Cassadee Pope.

It’s no surprise the pop rock singer won as she was charting with not one but two songs on the iTunes singles chart well into Monday night.  ”I’m feeling amazing, thank you for everyone who voted for me,” she told host Carson Daly after she was declared winner of The Voice. The singer then performed a beautiful rendition of her competition song, Faith Hill’s “Cry.” Pope’s win marks the second time a contestant on Blake Shelton’s team has taken the crown.

Here are our highlights from the episode:

1. The coaches’ attire. Cee Lo Green gets the gold star for best outfit on the finale. Those white spiked football pads were fantastic. Not to be shown up on her birthday, Christina Aguilera also rocked some chains and pearls with her bobbed hair. Meanwhile, we loved Adam Levine’s bowtie… though didn’t he kind of look like a waiter?!

2. “Adam Levine is so much more than a pretty face.” The profile of the multitalented frontman of Maroon 5 was adorable and hilarious. Our favorite comments on Levine from the other coaches: Cee Lo – “I’ve seen this man play the spoons”; Blake – “He’s just incredibly talented and it drives me crazy”; And Christina – “Adam is kind of like that guy in Mary Poppins.”

3. The Heartbreakers take the stage. The male contestants who are easy on the eyes – MacKenzie Bourg, Dez Duron, Cody Belew, Julio Cesar Castillo, and Diego Val – performed Fountains of Wayne’s “Stacey’s Mom.” The set, the singing – it was adorable and ridiculous.

4. Blake Shelton is a big flirt. I’m loving these profiles of the coaches and Blake’s was hilarious. The country superstar “loves everybody” and says he’s very secure in himself. Count on Blake to always tell someone if they’re attractive and to be the funniest coach on the show.

5. Season 4 preview. This preview for next season’s The Voice featuring new coaches Shakira and Usher was hilarious and fantastic. “Total Eclipse Of The Heart” and Carson Daly in the next car over – I can’t wait to see what next season brings us.

6. Kelly Clarkson and Team Blake. I’m not ashamed to admit I love Clarkson. It was exciting to watch Cassadee perform with one of her idols. You could see how happy it made her to share the stage with Clarkson. And while Terry sounded a little under the weather during the performance, I enjoyed his part on “Catch My Breath” as well.

7. “Well, Scoobs, obviously.” Xtina’s declaration of love for Scooby Doo and her impression of the cartoon character during her birthday message was hilarious. Also, NBC gets extra points for adding the Muppets. Muppets make everything amazing.

8. Santa Cee Lo and product placement. Each of the finalists were rewarded with a Kia car. The finalists were understandably excited by their prizes, but this whole segment was just insane and so funny. I’m going to really miss Cee Lo on the next season.

9. Nicholas brings back Amanda, Dez and Trevin for “End Of The Road.” This song took me all the way back to the sixth grade. I absolutely adore Boyz II Men and this song. Nicholas brought back the perfect contestants to bring the song to life and sounded fantastic during the performance.

10. Cee Lo’s clip package. Of course, we had to put Cee Lo’s clip package on the highlights. Adam referred to him as a combination between “Buddha and Issac Hayes.” Though our favorite part of the package was Cee Lo telling Christina he is also “a genie in a bottle,” but “a three liter bottle.”

‘The Voice’ Finale: Who Should Be Crowned the Winner? (VIDEO & POLL)

After a nationwide search, blind auditions, fierce battle rounds and nail-biting live shows, NBC’s The Voice is just hours from crowning its Season 3 winner.

With Christina Aguilera and Adam Levines teams out of the competition, the final three comes down to Blake Shelton‘s Cassadee Pope and Terry McDermott and Cee Lo Green‘s Nicholas David awaiting their fate Tuesday night.

So who should win?

Pope has been a frontrunner throughout the competition. With her powerhouse voice — and last season’s winning coach — backing her up, the West Palm Beach native is destined for superstardom as she’s previously landed a deal with Pete Wentz‘s Decaydance Records with her pop punk band, Hey Monday.

However, her teammate McDermott also has had the taste of fame and success. Hailing from Scotland, the singer has been a member in a number of bands including Driveblind in the United Kingdom, Lotus Crush and Northsouth in the United States.

As for Team Cee Lo? The “Bright Lights, Bigger City” crooner and David pulled out all the stops for the finale episode. Performing a medley of “Great Balls Of Fire”/”Fire,” a repeat performance of “Lean On Me” and a duet with Green on “Play That Funky Music White Boy,” the father-of-two wowed the audience — and even set a piano on fire on Monday night.

The Voice finale airs Tuesday at 8 PM on NBC.

‘The Voice’s’ Cassadee Pope Says the Possibility She’ll Win Has ‘Set In, for Sure’ (VIDEO)

Cassadee Pope is feeling “content” after her three performances on Monday’s performance finale of NBC’s The Voice. Besides feeling “great” about how her three performances went off on the show, the singer says she is happy that she got to be “part of something that’s way bigger than the show.”

“I got to be part of paying respects to the people we lost and that’s something that I never thought I’d be able to accomplish,” she told reporters after Monday’s show of their tribute to the Sandy Hook shooting victims. “I had a voice now, so that felt great.”

And on a personal level, she said repeating her breakthrough performance of Miranda Lambert’s “Over You” also helped her touch upon her own feelings about the horrific tragedy, which took place on Friday in Newtown, Conn.

“It was great timing for me to be able to have a moment on my own to kind of pay my respects to Connecticut because [‘Over You’ is] a song about losing someone and I’m happy I got to do that on my own, in this dress I love and to a song that I love that my coach wrote it,” she said. “It just all felt so right.”

Not even an hour after the live performance show of The Voice aired on the east coast, Pope’s performance of “Cry” was already charting on iTunes at No. 5, meaning her votes could be increased 10-fold. And at press time, she had not just one but two of her performances from Monday’s finale in the Top 10. So has she started seriously contemplating she might win?

“It’s set in for sure,” the former Hey Monday singer said. “In my head I’ve been like ‘OK, so this is what’s going to happen if I win’ and it’s kind of just been there so it hasn’t set in that much but it might hit me tonight when I see iTunes — hopefully it [the song] keeps climbing, that would be great.”

While Pope says that she is most proud of her performance of “Over You” this season, she indicated that an album of her own would be more similar to Kelly Clarkson.

“’Over You’ is a performance I’m very proud of,” she said. “I feel like visually and musically and vocally, that was my best performance, but if I were to give someone a preview of what’s to come from me I’d probably have to go with either tonight’s ‘Cry’ or ‘Behind These Hazel Eyes.’ I feel like those genres and those songs are very true to who I am and musically where I want to head.”

Lucky for Pope, Clarkson, will be performing on Tuesday’s finale.

“I’d love to sing with her, for her, as her background singer, on her album as oohs aahs in a background,” she gushed over the original American Idol. “I love her so much and I respect her so much. It’s going to be great. I hope I get to meet her.”

The winner of The Voice will be revealed on the live Season 3 finale at 9 PM on NBC. Tune in at 8 PM for a 60-minute recap of Monday’s episode.

‘The Voice’ Performance Finale: 10 Things You Didn’t See on TV (VIDEO)

The finalists’ performances are done and the votes and iTunes purchases will now be counted to determine the winner on NBC’s The Voice.

Cassadee Pope, Nicholas David, and Terry McDermott all performed three songs on the last performance show of Season 3 Monday night. In addition to their competition songs, the singers each performed their breakout song –- from a previous performance – and a duet with their coach.

The three finalists also came together with coaches Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green and fellow Top 20 contestants to perform a moving and powerful tribute to the victims of the Sandy Hook School Shooting in Newtown, Conn. With a candle lit for each victim, they took the stage to perform a gorgeous rendition of Leonard Cohen’s “Halleluiah” each holding the name of one of the deceased.

Celebuzz was once again in the audience for the episode, to get you the behind-the-scenes scoop on the final night of performances. Here are 10 things you didn’t see on TV:

1. The coaches performed. Pre-taped performances have been a big part of The Voice all season. Often when there is a musical guest, the show will pre-tape their performance to make the live show run smoother. On Monday, the coaches performed Green Day’s “Time of Your Life” which will open Tuesday’s finale. They performed the song twice for the crowd before the show went live. But the very first time they attempted the performance, Shelton messed up the words. Aguilera joked to producers, “Take the red cup away from him.”

2. A moving moment. Also pre-recorded was the touching tribute to Newtown mentioned above. The crew made sure the performance was perfect, polishing the candleholders for almost a minute before “Halleluiah” started. The warm-up guy instructed the crowd for silence as the group performed the song twice. We were also informed that the decision for this performance was decided Monday morning. On a side note, watching this live absolutely destroyed me and some others in the crowd. Many tissues were needed.

3. Even the contestants are fans. Sitting at the top of our section was much of the Top 20. Though photography isn’t really allowed inside the studio, we saw Rudy Parris take out his camera to snap a shot.

4. Carson Daly is a fun host. Not only did we catch Daly singing along to Nicholas David’s performance of “Lean on Me” but we also saw him dancing to one of Aguilera’s tunes playing over the speakers.

5. Jokesters. There was a funny moment between Carson and Blake while Terry McDermott’s package was playing on the screen. As the host went over to talk to the country star, they laughed and played with Shelton pretending to put his hands around Daly’s neck.

6. Give me the mic. Everytime a contestant gets off the stage, there’s a man waiting for them who takes their mic and gets it ready for the next performance. His job is literally to take their microphone away.

7. Christina loves her feet. If you’ve ever seen how tall Xtina’s heels are, then you probably wouldn’t be surprised that she sometimes lets her feet be free and goes sans shoes on set. But that’s not the only tidbit we have on her tootsies – the Your Body singer was also seen getting a foot rub during a commercial break.

8. Terry’s son is the cutest.McDermott’s wife and son were both in the live studio audience on Monday and little Liam was looking adorable. Decked in a mini-Blake outfit with a white button down shirt and vest, Liam and the warm up guy talked about his Dad’s success and their visit to Shelton’s “humongous” house.

9. Christina loves her fans. Still barefoot, the singer headed over to the pit to sign copies of her CDs for a few lucky fans.

10. Who’s cuter? There were a lot of great kid comments during the commercial breaks. Our favorite? When the warm up guy asked a 10-year-old if she thought Blake was cuter than Adam and she said, “Hmm, I don’t know.”

The finale of The Voice airs tomorrow at 9 PM on NBC. Monday night’s episode will be replayed in a 60-minute edition at 8 PM.

Cassadee Pope Sticks With the Country Side of Things on ‘The Voice’

What’s truly left to say about Cassadee Pope‘s uber successful season on ‘The Voice?’ Nothing, really. The girl is poised to win it all; she has a crazy amazing fan following that call themselves “Cassettes,” has a Twitter fan group in the form of @CassIsBadA– and she consistently ranks in the Top 10 on the iTunes charts. As Christina Aguilera would say, the girl’s a star.

Pope’s first performance of the night was one she already conquered, and one that catapulted her into essential ‘Voice’ stardom. ‘Over You’ gave Pope her first No. 1 on iTunes, and basically secured her spot on the show. Her performance of the track tonight was no different than the very first time she performed it.

Dressed in a long silver, square sequined gown, the singer stood on stage encased in a circle of lights, and accompanied by just two other musicians. There, she truly shined, surely giving viewers at home yet another reason to vote for her, even if this is the second time she’s performed the song; nailing it once again.

Before her second performance, we saw Blake Shelton invite Pope and her family to his house, where they seemed to bond rather naturally. Not much was shared, but we saw how proud her mother and older sister Ashley were of her, which was a nice moment.

On stage for the second time, this time alongside her coach, the pair performed Sheryl Crow’s ‘Steve McQueen,’ complete with a motorcycle and plaid shirts. Hey! It seems like this girl is truly embracing her country side with the twang that her voice is suddenly showing. However, despite the energy the girl has, it seemed like the low registers of the song were too low for her to hit.

In the very last performance of the night, Pope channeled her country diva again and chose Faith Hill‘s ‘Cry,’ and from the sound from rehearsals, it looks as though she was about to nail yet another performance.

Surrounded by falling leaves, she looked gorgeous in an olive green dress but sounded even better. Again, the low register of the verses didn’t necessarily help her, but the girl knows how to own a chorus, because dang were her vocals powerful.

Judges Thoughts: “You accomplished everything I wanted you to accomplish on Blake’s team,” said Adam Levine. “I am so proud of you.” Levine’s words basically summed up everyone’s thoughts.

Make sure you tune in tomorrow night to see who will be crowned season three’s winner of ‘The Voice!’

‘The Voice’ Top 4 Eliminations Recap: And the Finalists Are…

The three finalists have been set on NBC’s The Voice. And yet again, the Top 4 topped the iTunes charts with three of  their songs coming in at No.1, No. 2 and No. 6 on the Top 10 overall singles chart during voting. Even at the beginning of Tuesday’s live broadcast, three of the four singers were still charting on iTunes Top 10.

So did the votes counted by iTunes give away the finalists prior to air time?

Note: Spoilers ahead if you haven’t seen Tuesday’s elimination episode.

The answer is YES. The first two finalists announced were No. 2 and No. 1 respectively on the charts with Team Blake contenders Terry McDermott and Cassadee Pope making it through to the next rounds. The lone Team Cee Lo contestant announced to continue on to the finale was…Nicholas David. The soulful singer from Minnesota was charting at No. 7 on the singles chart when Tuesday’s episode ended.

Here are some highlights from the episode:

1. Team Blake takes on Of Monsters and Men. With Of Monsters and Men watching in the audience, Cassadee and Terry put on an awesome performance of the duo’s hit song, “Little Talks.” The Blake-ers sounded great together and had great chemistry on stage.

2. Season 2 alums back on the stage. Rae Lynn, Juliet Simms and Chris Mann all took the stage during the elimination episode. While I REALLY wish Tony Lucca would have taken the stage, they all did a good job in their own right. And hey, now I know what Christina Aguilera has been talking about regarding the “big things” Mann has been working on. Two albums and singing for the president? That’s pretty big.

3. Superbabies and hair umbrellas. The “desert island” bit was super cute, especially when Adam Levine said he’d make a super singing baby with Aguilera, and Cassadee said she’d hide under Nicholas’ beard.

4. Tony Lucca and Adam Levine. My dream team from Season 2 chatted in the skybox with Christina Milian about Lucca joining Levine’s 222 Records label. I’m still a little bitter about the Mickey Mouse Club alum not winning Season 2, and can’t wait to see what they put out together.

The Voice finale airs next Monday and Tuesday at 8 PM on NBC.
