Must be nice to be Blue Ivy! The beautiful baby daughter of Jay-Z and Beyonce marked her first birthday on Jan. 7, and her proud parents celebrated in a big way.
Hov and Bey plunked down $200,000 in total on Blue’s birthday soiree. Nothing is too good for their little princess! Where did that cash go?
The Sun reports that the power couple spent $95,000 on pink and white roses for the party (why not blue ones?!), which had a princess theme. The birthday cake cost over $2,000, while the pair spent a mint on gift bags for their young guests, featuring toys, princess outfits, personalized engraved gold pens, playhouses and jewelry to the tune of $30,000.
A source told the tab, “Nothing’s been too big or expensive for their little princess. They wanted her first birthday to set the tone for the rest of her life. They work hard for their money and the first thing they want to spend it on is their baby girl.” The sourced added, “It’s hard to imagine how they can top this next year — or what her Sweet Sixteen will be like.”
Aside from the party, what was Blue’s gift? A cool $80,000 diamond-encrusted Barbie doll. And, you know, that $1 million nursery.

Beyonce Knowles gets candid and emotional in the new trailer for her upcoming HBO documentary, set to air in February.
On Saturday, the network released a preview of the special, titled Life is But a Dream. Directed by the 31-year-old singer herself, documentary includes personal footage from multiple rehearsal spaces, the recording studio, Bey’s bed and her adventures around the world.
“I always battle with how much do I reveal about myself. How do I stay current? How do I stay soulful? I felt like I had been so commercial success, it wasn’t enough,” Beyonce says in a voiceover in the trailer.
“You can’t express yourself. You can’t grow. It is the battle of my life. So I set a goal. And my goal was: independence.”
In the trailer, Beyonce can also be seen being frustrated with trying to hide her baby bump, possibly during a time just prior to her big announcement at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards.
You know Beyonce always seems so classy and humble even though she’s one of the biggest stars ever on the planet? It’s because she is.
There’s a reason Queen Bey is the queen — she treats everyone around her with respect and is super gracious all of the time. Fashion designer Rubin Singer recently revealed that Beyonce is his absolute favorite celeb to work with.
Singer dressed Bey for her Las Vegas New Year’s Eveengagements, and he couldn’t have been more impressed with her. He told Glamour that Bey and her sister, Solange, are “the only celebrities that always dry clean and send clothes back in a box, with a hand-written thank you note. They are true ladies.”
“When you do a fitting with her, she doesn’t keep you waiting half a day like some celebrities do,” Singer added. “When she’s there, she’s present and honest and grateful.” Love. That. Bey.
Not only does Beyonce respect designers’ time, she also repays them for the time they spend working with her. “She and I have had a working relationship now for about five years,” Singer said. “In that time, I’ve been invited to every concert she’s had in New York, she’s introduced me to people she thinks I should work with, she and her team are just incredibly generous people.”
Sounds like she’s setting a mighty fine example for Blue Ivy!

They’re back! Just one day after announcing that they’d be coming out with new music, Destiny’s Child debuted its new track ”Nuclear” produced by Pharrell Williams. Listen to the track over at Huffington Post.
In case you haven’t heard, it’s apparently the season of getting pregnant in Hollywood. Evan Rachel Wood and Jamie Bell are the latest couple to announce that they’re expecting. TooFab has more on the happy couple and their exciting news.
Beyonce will be joined by Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland for her highly anticipated Super Bowl halftime performance. Destiny’s Child is back!
Us Weekly reports that Bey will begin the show solo, with Rowland and Williams joining about midway through. The legendary girl group will perform a medley of their biggest hits before launching into their new single, ‘Nuclear,’ off of their upcoming greatest hits compilation album. Afterward, Rowland and Williams will bow out, leaving Queen Bey to take over the rest of the show.
Beyonce announced that Destiny’s Child would release their first new material in nine years earlier today (Jan. 10) on her website. The track will appear on ‘Love Songs,’ which will hit shelves on Jan. 29. Beyonce’s solo album is expected to land this spring. To quote the Queen herself, “I don’t think they can handle this!”

Beyonce and her rock hard body cover the February issue of GQ. The photo spread is football-themed, coinciding with her upcoming Super Bowl halftime performance.
In the feature, the Bootylicious Bey talks about being the quarterback of the Beyonce business. It’s not just about her music, but her brand as a style icon, an inspiration to all strong women the world over.
Turns out, she relates to athletes in how she plans for and approaches her concerts and her stage. You know, when and where she becomes Sasha Fierce.
“One of the reasons I connect to the Super Bowl is that I approach my shows like an athlete,” she said . “You know how they sit down and watch whoever they’re going to play and study themselves? That’s how I treat this. I watch my performances, and I wish I could just enjoy them, but I see the light that was late. I see, ‘Oh God, that hair did not work.’ Or ‘I should never do that again.’ I try to perfect myself. I want to grow, and I’m always eager for new information.”
Bey clearly loves being an entertainer and a performer, saying that before she welcomed daughter Blue Ivy a year ago, her job was priority numero uno.
“I love my job, but it’s more than that: I need it,” she declared. “Because before I gave birth, it was the only time in my life, all throughout my life, that I was lost.” She likens being onstage to “a blackout. When I’m onstage, I don’t know what the crap happens. I am gone.”
She also shared some secrets to the follow up to ’4,’ one of the most anticipated albums of the year.
Here’s what she learned.
She’s working with some big names: “I’ve been working with Pharrell and Timbaland and Justin Timberlake and Dream,” Bey revealed. “We all started in the ’90s, when R&B was the most important genre, and we all kind of want that back: the feeling that music gave us.” Perhaps this “get ready” stuff from Timberlake involves this project? It’s no coincidence that JT released the video the same day this quote dropped. We’re onto something.
On the writing process: “I used to start with lyrics and then I’d find tracks—often it was something I had in my head, and it just so happened to go with the melody,” she said. “Now I write with other writers. It starts with the title or the concept of what I’m trying to say, and then I’ll go into the booth and sing my idea. Then we work together to layer on.”
How it’s shaping up sonically: “Mostly R&B. I always have my Prince and rock/soul influences. There’s a bit of D’Angelo, some ’60s doo-wop. And Aretha and Diana Ross.”
In her one sorta uppity statement, Bey confirmed her goddess status. Literally. “I now know that, yes, I am powerful,” she declared. “I’m more powerful than my mind can even digest and understand.”
Bey’s omnipotent. All hail to the queen.

For those of you hankering to hear some new music from Destiny’s Child you are in luck. Beyonce just announced on her Facebook page that a new song titled ‘Nuclear’ will appear on the group’s greatest hits compilation ‘Love Songs.’
‘Nuclear’ is the trio’s first new track in over eight years. The song was produced by Pharrell Williams and co-written by DC member Michelle Williams (no relation to Pharrell). No word on when the song will hit the Internet, but you can pre-order the album, which will be available on Jan. 29, at Amazon.com. ‘Love Songs’ is a greatest-hits collection featuring Destiny’s Child’s most romantic ballads recorded between 1997 and 2004.
So with this new song, we have to surmise that Destiny’s Child might reunite during Beyonce’s halftime concert at Super Bowl XLVII in New Orleans on Feb. 3. That will certainly be a memorable moment to behold, if it does happen.
The Beyonce takeover is certainly in full swing in 2013. The R&B mom is featured on the cover of GQ magazine’s February issue and there’s rumors that she will appear on a new Justin Timberlake song with her hubby Jay-Z.

First Justin Timberlake, now Destiny’s Child. The ’90s are making its way back into the music industry full force. The same day JT announced that he’s ‘ready’ to return to the field, Beyonce took to her Facebook page to proclaim that she, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams are reuniting. She writes, “I am so proud to announce the first original Destiny’s Child music in eight years!” Along with that message came the official album cover for the girl group’s upcoming Love Songs compilation.
According to Billboard, the CD will consist of 14 tracks and is “composed of romantic-themed songs the trio recorded between 1997-2004 except for” “Nuclear,” which is confirmed to be newly-recorded.
2013 is shaping to be the year for Beyonce. Along with her melodies with DC, she’s also on the road to her fifth album, set to release this spring, performing at the Super Bowl Half-Time Show, and she’s tapped to sing for Barack Obama and co. at his second Presidential Inauguration. Did we miss anything? Oh yeah, and she’s also the latest cover girl for GQ‘s “The 100 Sexiest Women of The 21st Century” issue. Keep in mind, a majority of this is all happening/has happened within a month. (Makes you rethink what you’re doing with your life, doesn’t it?)
Destiny’s Child’s Love Songs will be released on January 29, 2013, but is available for pre-order on Amazon.com right this second. How do you feel about the top ’90s artists making a comeback?
