2012 Year in Review: The 20 Biggest Weddings, Breakups and Makeups

Just like the rest of the world, love makes the Hollywood go round.

This year had no shortage of romance among the stars. From Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel saying “I do” under the stars in Southern Italy, to Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively secretly getting hitched on a sprawling Southern plantation, many buzzed-about celebrity couples found their happily-ever-after in 2012.

Even some of the industry’s most beloved golden girls turned bridal. Natalie Portman tied the knot with her Benjamin Millepied in a traditional Jewish ceremony in Big Sur, Calif., where Anne Hathaway also walked down the aisle at sunset to wed Adam Shulman.

Drew Barrymore vowed for forever with Will Kopleman at her Montecito, Calif. estate, while Carey Mulligan took the plunge with Mumford & Sons musician Marcus Mumford in the countryside of Somerset, England.

But wedded bliss didn’t bless everyone, with many longtime lovers calling it quits in 2012. After almost seven years of marriage, Heidi Klum and Seal announced their separation in January before officially filing for divorce three months later.

Parting ways after five wedded years, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes — long labeled Tomkat — reached a surprisingly speedy divorce settlement after just 11 days in July, with the actress receiving primary custody of the couple’s six-year-old daughter, Suri.

But not all of Hollywood’s bitter breakups stuck. Back in July, Kristen Stewart was infamously snapped smooching her married Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders, seemingly ruining her three-year relationship with Twilight co-star Robert Pattinson. But Twihard broken hearts were soon on the mend, as Stewart and Pattinson were spotted canoodling in Los Angeles, Calif., in October.

Now, as the countdown begins to 2013, look back at this year’s biggest weddings, breakups and makeups.

Which wedding took the cake? What split was most shocking? And which makeups were meant to be? Share your thoughts in comments below.

Anne Hathaway Married: Rehearsal Dinner Menu Revealed (EXCLUSIVE)

Before Anne Hathaway and Adam Shulman said “I Do” to each other at their rustic million-dollar wedding in Big Sur, Calif. on Saturday, the couple kicked off their celebrations on Friday with an intimate rehearsal dinner.

The cozy affair was held at The Restaurant at the Ventana Inn, where approximately 50 guests joined the happy couple for a three-course pre-fixe meal, Celebuzz can confirm.

To make things even more intimate, the dining tables were pushed together.

“Anne could not stop smiling, everyone was so happy and Adam kept making her laugh,” a source told us.

“Anne and Adam kissed as one of their friends made a toast during the end of the dinner. It was really romantic.”

So what was on the rehearsal dinner menu, known as ‘The Heart of Big Sur?’

Hathaway, 29, Shulman, 31 and their guests dined on organic beets, hand harvested diver scallop and Colorado grass fed lamb before kicking back with cheese (Saint Andre triple cream with honey) and dessert (coconut and ginger panna cotta), a waitress told Celebuzz.

A vegetarian option was also available.

On Saturday, set against the gorgeous backdrop of the Big Sur coastline, Hathaway and Shulman were married in front of 180 guests at sunset.

As Celebuzz reported exclusively, the wedding theme was white, pink and rustic. The bride wore a custom-made Valentino gown with a headpiece and viel while the groom donned a traditional black tuxedo and tie.

For the reception, 18 tables were set up under a private marquee, as San-Francisco based jazz trio American Social Club provided tunes for the first hour. A DJ from Los Angeles provided the soundtrack for the rest of the evening.

Hathaway and Shulman have been dating for nearly four years. Shulman, an actor and jewelry designer, proposed to the Dark Knight Rises actress in November 2011.

“The flowers took over a week to create,” added the source.

The wedding was designed by the same planner who handled Portman’s Aug. 4 nuptials to Benjamin MillepiedYifat Oren.

The wedding between Anne Hathaway and Adam Shulman was a lavish affair with a white, pink and rustic theme — set against the romantic and sprawling backdrop of the Big Sur, Calif. coastline.

180 guests — 18 tables with ten people each — sat amongst more than $100,000 of flowers in a private marquee erected especially for the reception.

Each table had 12 mini centerpieces.

“The floral arrangements and wedding décor were simple and rustic,” a source told Celebuzz, noting they were transported from Los Angeles to the Central Coast of California for the occasion.

“The flowers took over a week to create,” added the source.

More exclusive details after the jump.

The wedding was designed by the same planner who handled Portman’s Aug. 4 nuptials to Benjamin Millepied, Yifat Oren.

The reception featured the San Fransisco-based jazz trio ‘Americano Social Club’ for the first hour, before a DJ from Los Angeles had guests dancing the night away.

“The band had no idea who they were performing for,” said a source.

“Someone told them that they were playing at the wedding of ‘Catwoman’ and the bassist guessed ‘Michelle Pheiffer!?’

“They found out it was Anne’s wedding just 30 minutes before the wedding.”

Two photographers captured every moment and even used vintage cameras in keeping with the theme of the occasion.

Hathaway, 29, chose a custom Valentino gown, the same designer who last week described the Oscar nominee as being “like my daughter.” The groom, 31, wore a traditional tux.

Earlier, the bride and groom prepared for the wedding in a five-star luxury hotel.

An onlooker said: “Adam was so excited. He posed for photos with his mother who was wearing a navy blue gown with chiffon shoulders.”

The weekend started with a rehearsal dinner at the Ventana Inn and Spa.

The location of the nuptials was kept secret from the guests who were taken to the venue via shuttles. Guests had to wear neon green bracelets to gain access to the buses.

One vendor who worked on the Les Misérables star’s wedding told Celebuzz he estimated the occasion cost more than $1 million.

Anne Hathaway Weds Adam Shulman in Sunset Wedding on the Californian Coast (EXCLUSIVE)

Less than 12 months after they got engaged, Anne Hathaway and her longtime boyfriend Adam Shulman have tied the knot.

The Dark Knight star, 29, said “I Do” to her actor-turned-jewelry designer husband on the scenic central California coast of Big Sur just after 5 p.m. PT on Saturday, a source confirmed to Celebuzz.

Surrounded by family and friends, the pair exchanged vows on sunset in a private marquee situated next to an old barn.

Hathaway wore a custom-made Valentino gown, while the groom looked dashing in a traditional tuxedo, an eyewitness revealed to Celebuzz.

The location of the nuptials was kept secret from the 180 guests who were taken to the venue via shuttles. Guests had to wear bracelets to gain access to the buses.

Earlier, Hathaway and Shulman prepared for the wedding in a large suite at the Ventana Inn and Spa, a five-star luxury hotel.

An onlooker said: “Adam was so excited. He posed for photos with his mother who was wearing a navy blue gown with chiffon shoulders.”

The reception was set to take place in the marquee with a jazz band and DJ.

The one-time Oscar nominee began dating Shulman in November 2008.

He popped the question in Novermber of 2011, at which time the actress told PEOPLE  that she was “a romantic at heart” and described  her newly-minted husband as “the best.”

“Relationships are work, but love is a gift,” Hathaway said in a November 2011 interview with USA Today, in which she quoted the band Bright Eyes to illustrate her point:”‘I’d rather be working for a paycheck than waiting to win the lottery.’ … That’s the way I feel about love.”

“Calm’s new, it recently became calm,” she added. “For years it was full of doubt, really — how do you know?”

She even touted an expansion of the Hathaway-Shulman partnership — with children!

“I’d like to have kids in 10 years,” she told the newspaper. “I don’t know about five, but 10.”

Anne Hathaway, Adam Shulman Wedding Venue: Inside the Post Ranch Inn (PHOTOS)

It’s almost Hollywood wedding time!

Anne Hathaway, 29, is set to walk down the aisle Saturday to wed longtime love Adam Shulman, 31 in Big Sur, Calif.

Now Celebuzz can confirm the exact venue where the nuptials will take place — and we’ve got the photos of the gorgeous coastline property known as Post Ranch Inn.

Judging from the snaps — and the fact that the blushing bride will don Valentino on her big day — Hathaway’s wedding will surely be a beautiful one.

From hiring Natalie Portman’s wedding planner, to having a vegan spread for wedding guests, the rumor mill has been having a field day with Hathaway’s plans ever since the announcement of her engagement nearly one year ago.

What we do know is that come wedding hour, Hathaway will be draped from head to toe in Valentino.

“She’s a very good friend of mine,” the 80-year-old designer told E! last week after confessing that he “did the dress” for the actress’ big day.

Anne Hathaway Wedding Dress Predictions: Which Valentino Design will the Bride Wear? (GALLERY)

It’s no secret that Anne Hathaway loves the work of good friend Valentino Garavani — so much that the Dark Knight Rises actress handpicked the 80-year-old designer to create the garment for her big wedding day.

As Celebuzz previously reported, Hathaway, 29, is set to walk down the aisle in Big Sur, Calif. this weekend to say “I Do” to her longtime love Adam Shulman, 31.

With Hathaway’s nuptials just around the corner, all eyes will surely focus on the cut, fabric, length and design of her wedding dress.

Which Valentino look will Hathaway don on her big day?

In red carpets past, the Les Miserables star has worn just about every Valentino look in the book. Over the years, Hathaway’s outfits by the designer have included long-sleeved sheer numbers (as displayed most recently at the New York City Ballet fall gala), princess-like cap sleeves (worn at the White Fairy Tale Love Ball in Paris last year) and sparkly and sleeveless works of art.

“She’s a very good friend of mine,” Valentino told E! last week after confirming that he “did the dress” for Hathaway’s wedding.

“She’s sensational. She’s fantastic . . . she deserves what she has in this life,” he added.

Including a Valentino-designed wedding dress, it seems.

To help with our predictions on Anne Hathaway’s weekend wedding dress, Celebuzz has put together a gallery of the actress’ most stunning looks in Valentino, above. What look do you think she will wear on her wedding day? Share your thoughts below.

Anne Hathaway’s Wedding Celebrations to Begin in Big Sur Tonight

The countdown is on.

Anne Hathaway is set to say “I Do” to her fiance Adam Shulman, 31, this weekend in Big Sur, Calif., Celebuzz can confirm.

The Batman beauty will walk down the aisle during a romantic ceremony in the picturesque California coastal town and will be starting celebrations Friday night with a rehearsal dinner.

What will she wear for her big day?

As Celebuzz revealed, Hathaway will be wearing Valentino for her nuptials after asking her good friend, Valentino Garavani, to design her gown.

The 29-year-old has kept details of her wedding firmly under wraps and just three months ago she said she was too busy to start planning.

However, it looks as though she’s had some help creating her dream day.

The soon-to-be husband and wife started dating in 2008 and got engaged in November 2011.
