Adam Lambert Leaves Record Label

Adam Lambert is walking away from his deal with 19 Records. But don’t worry — though his style and attitude are fierce, his relationship with the label is perfectly friendly, and he’s still got another deal.

The Hollywood Reporter reports that Lambert’s contract with 19 expired and he simply chose not to renew it. It won’t affect his musical output much, as he will still be signed to RCA, of which 19 is a subsidiary. Lambert left 19 Management in August 2011, but remained on the label until this month.

A source close to the dealings says the split is mutually beneficial. “It’s good for both sides,” an insider said. “Adam can move forward with his plans and 19 isn’t stuck in the middle.”

Lambert’s rep confirms that it was a mutual decision and that Lambert and 19 Records left “amicably and with the utmost respect for each other.” He’s not signed to RCA Records and to Direct Management Group, which also names Lambert’s pal Katy Perry as a client. 19 Records is still home to many ‘American Idol‘ alumni, including current champ Phillip Phillips.

Lambert’s publicist also pointed out that the move is part of his “evolution.” We can’t wait to see what else he’s got in store for us!

Russell Crowe Responds to Adam Lambert’s ‘Les Miserables’ Criticisms on Twitter

Russell Crowe on Tuesday responded to a series of tweets from American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert, who criticized Les Miserables for its live singing technique.

“I don’t disagree with Adam,” Crowe, who plays Javert in the film, tweeted. “Sure it could have been sweetened, [director Tom] Hooper wanted it raw and real. That’s how it is.”

On Dec. 30, Lambert tweeted the film suffered from “great actors PRETENDING to be singers.”

“It’s an opera. Hollywoods movie musicals treat the singing as the last priority. (Dreamgirls was good),” he continued, before praising some of the actors in the film, including Anne Hathaway.

“The industry will say ‘these actors were so brave to attempt singing this score live’ but why not cast actors who could actually sound good?”

Lambert quickly apologized for his remarks, tweeting, “I’m so glad we are all discussing this now! Look-I grew up w this musical and so my expectations are quite high. Didn’t mean to b negative.”

Les Miserables is now playing nationwide.

Adam Lambert Not Impressed With the Singing in ‘Les Miserables’

Adam Lambert has one heck of a set of pipes, so it’s not surprising that he’d have strong opinions about musicals. The ‘American Idol‘ runnerup took to Twitter to voice his frustrations about the new film adaptation of ‘Les Miserables.’ Basically, he thought the movie wasn’t bad — but that a lot of the singing was.

Lambert went to Twitter to vent about the blockbuster, writing, “Les Mis: Visually impressive w great Emotional performances. But the score suffered massively with great actors PRETENDING to be singers.” Ouch! Still, Lambert said there were some good vocals in the movie: “Anne Hathaway as Fantine and Enjolras were the exceptions for me,” he wrote, adding, “Helena B Carter and Sasha B Cohen were great too.” He also expressed appreciation for the character of Eponine, played by Broadway vet Samantha Barks — who took the role from Taylor Swift. We’re sure Lambert may have had issues with as well.

Lambert clarified as well that he doesn’t think it was just the cast that were flawed, but also the production process. The movie made a marketing point out of recording the vocals live, not using prerecorded music and lip syncing, and Glambert thinks that was a bad idea. “And I do think it was cool they were singing live- but with that cast, they should have studio recorded and sweetened the vocals,” he tweeted matter-of-factly.

He vented some more about the Hollywood machine. “The industry will say ‘these actors were so brave to attempt singing this score live,’” he wrote, “but why not cast actors who could actually sound good?” Tell us how you really feel, Adam! Knowing that the truth hurts, he added, “Sorry for being so harsh but it’s so true!”

It appears that Lambert came under some criticism for his own criticism, because he tossed in some quips later on that appeared to be a response for blacklash:

Basically, Lambert called out Amanda Seyfried, Hugh Jackman and Russell Crowe for not being able to sing. Do you agree with his assessment of the movie? Sound off in the comments!

Macklemore + Adam Lambert – Who Wore It Best?

When we look at this picture, the only visual that comes to mind is ‘Thrift Shop’ rapper Macklemore and ‘Trespassing’ singer Adam Lambert walking side-by-side in slow motion, with Three 6 Mafia’s ‘Stay Fly’ playing on repeat. These super bad (in the James Brown way), pimp-tastic pop playas are looking “fly i i i i i i i i i i” in their furs and animal print… But which one wore this look best?

Primo penny saver Macklemore looks utterly fantastic in his fur duds from the local thrift shop. Sipping on a Slurpee and hitching a ride on a female-powered scooter, Mack proves that you can be cheap and chic all at the same time.

On the other hand, there’s the equally bada– Adam Lambert, who is channeling his inner ’70s gangster in this brown fur jacket and leopard-print shirt (you can’t see it here, but he’s wearing leopard loafers to match). Lambert rocked this brown on brown on brown look at the VH1 Divas concert in 2012, and as usual, he looked confident and eye-catching.

Which guy do you think wore these animal print + fur combos best? Vote for Macklemore or Adam below!

‘VH1 Divas’ 2012 Concert: See Miley Cyrus, Kelly Clarkson, Adam Lambert + More Perform

Miley Kelly Adam

The ‘VH1 Divas’ 2012 special aired last night (Dec. 16) and our favorite ladies of pop music went all out with both their performances and their attire. Miley Cyrus was daring in both her performance and her onstage and red carpet outfits, while the newly-engaged Kelly Clarkson played it safe in a dress we didn’t love, even though we lurve her. Adam Lambert, who hosted the event, went all out in lots of furry fabric. They don’t call him “Glambert” for nothing.

Cyrus was a warrior diva in the leather-studded outfit that she wore onstage, paired with her now iconic punk rock haircut. With each performance and red carpet appearance, Cyrus has been doing her very best to shed her former Disney image. Her performance outfit boasted statement shoulders, bared her midriff and included shimmery leggings. The singer’s red carpet dress was her edgy take on the LBD — she wore a long, figure hugging Omo by Norma Kamali sheath with diamond-cut panels on the side. Even when covered up, Miss Miley showed some skin, peek-a-boo style.

She looked like a rebel, and performed Billy Idol’s ‘Rebel Yell.’

Clarkson wore a long dress that looked like it was fashioned from black velvet and brocade curtains. It wasn’t her most flattering look, but that all fell by the wayside when she opened her mouth to belt out her latest single ‘Catch My Breath.’ The girl can sing! She looks so toned and happy since she got engaged to fiance Brandon Blackstock, so we were disappointed that she covered it up. Show ‘em what you got, Kel!

Lambert was quite the costumed one in red fur on stage, which he paired with black leather pants. It was one of several outfit changes, but it stood out the most. He pissed off PETA even more, with his brown suit, which he wore with a draped with brown fur, on the carpet. It was very much a ‘Godfather’ look for the flamboyant fashionista.

Ciara performed Michael Jackson‘s ‘Got Me Good,’ looking all kinds of sexy in skintight leather pants and a white top which showed off her tummy. Her red carpet gown was a stunner — a black sequined creation by Pamella Rowland that clung to every curve. And on Ciara, there are lots of curves to hug. Mama mia, she looked gorgeous.

Jordin Sparks sparkled onstage and on the carpet. She took part in a tribute to the late great Whitney Houston, who was her ‘Sparkle’ co-star. The newly-trim singer dared to bare –her cleavage and her leg- thanks to the bustier and the slit in the gown she wore while taking part in a medley of Houston hits, like ‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody.’ Sparks also wore a Nicole Miller gown on the carpet, with a tight, form-fitting bodice with gold underlay that she owned.

Kelly Rowland showed us her diva side in a black and white striped top, leggings and massive curls when she performed. She also shined on the carpet in a silky, green gown by A.F. Vandervorst, which she paired with sleek locks swept back into a ponytail. The emerald color popped against her beautiful skin.

Demi Lovato rocked her usual stage uniform of lots of black: leggings and a cropped leather jacket, paired with a mesh blinged out top in a golden hue. Her red carpet look was demure. She went for budget-friendly but stylish in a Topshop dress with a short hem and silvery sleeves. Her hair was too matronly, though! Let it all hang out, Demi!

She turned things up a notch when she performed her smash ‘Give Your Heart a Break.’

Pitbull can hang with the divas, and he did so in a sharp, well-fitting grey suit. Mr. Worldwide is always so debonair.

Granted, nothing did — or, let’s face it, ever will — top the Greatest Moment Ever in the History of VH1 Divas, but it was still a pretty darned good concert put on by a even better list of talent.

Adam Lambert Covers Fiasco Magazine in Black

Adam Lambert Fiasco Cover

Adam Lambert loves the color black. He’s pretty much the new Man in Black. It’s his signature hue, and he rocks it on the cover of the new issue of Fiasco, which hits stands today (Dec. 10).

The always stylish singer, who is slowly returning to his inky black locks after a stint as a platinum blond, looks dashing on the cover. Even his adapting and adjusting hair looks fashion forward. He earned the “Glambert” nickname due to his penchant for thick, black “guyliner” and glammed out look. But here, there is an air of sophistication and he holds back a little. It works for him.

The former ‘American Idol‘ contestant — he didn’t win, but went on to have a bigger career than Kris Allen, the singer who defeated him, including a No. 1 record, which was a first for a LGBT artist — spoke about life on a reality singing show and as an artist beyond all the hoopla that comes with being on a ratings juggernaut.

“It’s interesting, because you get all this hype and celebrity and it’s of the moment. But as far as being an artist, that’s not really explored until you put out your own original material,” he said, encapsulating the ‘Idol’ and post-’Idol’ experience.

He also addressed his image and style, which is a repeat topic when it comes to Lambert, saying, “The way I look at it, there’s just as much pressure [on men], but men aren’t supposed to talk about it. It’s supposed to seem easy, but men, especially in the public eye, are just as worried as women are.”

He also joked about the correlation between his style and image, and his status as a LGBT icon. “For the general audience, they look at the way I style myself and they go, ‘Errrr, that’s gay,’ but you ask a handful of gay guys and they’re like, ‘I would never wear that!’” he joked.

Ain’t no thang. Lambert always looks good.

Adam Lambert + Cyndi Lauper Perform ‘Mad World’ Live

Generations collide as Adam Lambert duets with ’80s queen and LGBT activist Cyndi Lauper for ‘Mad World’ in this fan-filmed footage.

Lambert and Lauper teamed up for an emotionally rousing rendition of the track. It was a beautiful performance as their voices interlaced.

In this footage, the camera focuses squarely on Glambert, who is growing out his formerly platinum blond locks, making it look like he has blond tips, up until about the halfway point.

Lauper reaches out her hand and they perform with their hands clasped for a few moments, making it a tactile performance, as well. Their chemistry just crackles, and their voices are supreme.

Best Live Performer – 2012 PopCrush Music Awards

PopCrush Music Awards

While not all of the artists in our Best Live Performer of 2012 category released new albums this year, all of them had stellar years onstage, performing for fans all over the world. From the Pink‘s acrobatics to Lady Gaga‘s theatrics, who gets your vote for the Best Live Performer of 2012?

When it comes to singing live, two of the most successful ‘American Idol‘ winners, Adam Lambert and Kelly Clarkson, know how to do it right. The ‘Trespassing’ hit maker entertained throughout most of 2012, belting out his own array of songs as well as covers, and also stood in as the frontman for Queen, not like that’s a big deal or anything. Clarkson also kept it real during her concerts, using her outstanding and powerful pipes to sing hits from her ‘Stronger’ LP while performing a plethora of fun covers, as well.

If you’re looking for a real action-packed performance, than artists like Lady Gaga, Pink and Madonna may be more up your alley. Lady Gaga never fails to put on a riveting performance, and her 2012 Monster Ball tour overseas has been absolutely bananas. As if her castle-like stage setup and outrageous costumes weren’t enough, Gaga is also an amazing live singer and dances that perfectly toned booty off on the daily.

Meanwhile, Pink has already proven time and time again that she’s an unbelievable performer, and her live shows are sometimes closer to art than just a concert. From the moving and challenging choreography she did for her AMA performance of ‘Try,’ to her high-flying stunts at the VMAs, Pink never disappoints, and we can’t wait to see what she’s got in store for her upcoming tour with the Hives!

Then there’s Madonna, who is in a class all her own with her controversial MDNA tour. Over the span of the 2012 trek, Madge has gotten naked, toted guns around onstage, ad has used religious and Nazi imagery in her performances. Of course, this is Madonna, so the shocking is always to be expected.

Fellow pop divas Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj and Rihanna are also in the running for Best Live Performer of 2012, with each of these ultra glam and always colorful ladies entertaining all over the world this year. Then there’s British boy band One Direction and dramatic ‘Red’ cutie Taylor Swift, who are selling out every show they book in 2012. And finally, Chris Brown and Usher, who are still two of the best dancers in the biz and are always fun to watch live in action, 2012 included.

Vote for the artist you think deserves the title of Best Live Performer of 2012 below, and remember that you can vote once per hour until the poll closes on Jan. 15, 2013 at 11:59 PM EST. PopCrush will announce all of the winners in our annual music awards the following day, Jan. 16.

Adam Lambert Rocks Out at the 2012 MNet Asian Music Awards

Adam Lambert looked like he was celebrating Movember at the 2012 MNet Asian Music Awards. Sporting spikey, two-tone black and silver hair, eyeliner and a bit of a goatee, Glambert took to the stage to perform ‘Whataya Want From Me’ and ‘Trespassing.’

Lambert, rocking black leather pants, matching nail polish and fingerless gloves and a black and yellow spiked biker jacket, took to the stage in Hong Kong and opened with his breakout hit. His intense eye makeup made his baby blues absolutely piercing. The ‘American Idol‘ alum maintained a stern demeanor throughout the performance, matching the somewhat somber, frustrated nature of the song.

When he broke into ‘Trespassing,’ the title track from his sophomore smash, he was flanked by two dancers in bright yellow Afro wigs that matched his jacket. Lambert clearly had fun with this performance, strutting his hot stuff all over the stage and dancing up a storm. When he sings, “Wait til you get a load of me,” the sass is all over his face: He means it!

Though Lambert has yet to tour in support of ‘Trespassing,’ he’s been hitting stages and sets left and right. He recently performed in Cape Town, South Africa, made a cameo on the ABC Family hit ‘Pretty Little Liars’ Halloween episode and will host VH1′s ‘Divas Live’ concert on Dec. 16.

[button href=”” title=”Next: See Adam Lambert’s New Tattoo!” align=”center”]

Adam Lambert Shows Off Massive New Tattoo of His ‘Astrological Birth Chart’ (PHOTO)

Adam Lambert is sporting new ink.

The American Idol runner-up recently showed off his impressive upper arm tattoo on Twitter. ”It represents my Astrological Birth Chart, along with Pagan, Buddhist, and Greco- Roman Archetypes related to balance and the life cycle,” Lambert explained.

“My chart is Aquarius Sun, Libra Rising, Aries Moon,” he added. “All three are represented.”

However, the new ink has already come under fire from internet trolls who labeled the tattoo as satanic. The 30-year-old singer was quick to clear up the confusion.

“Tattoo has nothing to do w Satanism… That’s stupid,” he tweeted. “Greek Mythology? Yes. PAN. The Internet loves these foolish Illuminati conspiracies.”

Over the summer, Lambert debuted a tattoo of the latin phrase “Musica Delenit Bestiam Feram” on his arm.
