Justin Timberlake is officially ready to come back to the music world. After taking a break from his music to act and pursue other ventures, the 31-year-old singer confirmed via a YouTube video that he has indeed returned to the studio to work on new music. JT first teased the news on Wednesday on Twitter by simply writing, “Thursday, January 10th, 2013 at 9:01 am PST…”
Now, come Thursday morning, Justin tweeted out the aforementioned video along with the message, “To whom it may concern…I think I’M READY! #JT2013″ The video starts off mysteriously enough, with a voice over of Justin saying, “Someone asked me the other day, ‘So, are you just done with music?’ It means more to me than anybody else in the world. Look, I’ve only done two albums in 10 years, that’s the way I really look at it. What does the next decade mean for me?”
He then continues to mention how much music really it means to him, and that he can’t expect to “torture” himself year after year to create new music since he wants it to fulfill him. He finishes off the video by saying, “I don’t want to put anything out that I feel like it’s something I don’t love. You just don’t get that every day. You have to wait for it.” Then it shows Justin going up to the mic and saying, “I’m ready.” After the video begins a countdown, and while it’s not exactly known what the countdown leads to, many assume it will be the release of a new single.
Though Justin has been gone from the music world, he’s hardly been out of the public eye. Since releasing his last album FutureSex/LoveSounds in 2006, he’s starred in films such as Friends With Benefits, The Social Network, and Trouble With the Curve. He also opened a restaurant called Southern Hospitality, and worked with the fashion line William Rast. When it comes to his personal life, he married actress Jessica Biel in Italy on October 19, 2012 after nearly five years of dating.
