Drake (Sort Of) Apologizes to Kobe + Vanessa Bryant Over Offensive Rap Lyric

Kobe Bryant’s wife, Vanessa Bryant, has finally responded to Drake‘s infamous rap line from Rick Ross‘ ‘Stay Schemin’.’ Drizzy’s verse — “B—- you wasn’t with me shooting in the gym” — was one of the most quoted verse of 2012. According to Bossip, Vanessa didn’t like the rap lyric one bit.

At that time, Drake’s line was a jab at Vanessa after news broke that her and Lakers b-baller Kobe Bryant were divorcing and she was getting half of his $300 million fortune. Vanessa never said anything publicly about Drizzy’s off-the-cuff remark, but we’ve come to find out she was indeed angry about the ribald line. The Young Money star did publicly say that he didn’t mean any harm with the line, but he also apologized to her, sort of, via text message.

Kobe’s better half recently spoke out about Drake’s rap line and apology in a rant on Instagram.

“I love when immature kids quote a rapper that has never been friends with Kobe and knows nothing about our relationship,” wrote Vanessa. “Just shows how gullible they are. I don’t need to be in the gym. I’m raising our daughters, signing checks and taking care of everything else that pertains to our home life.”

“Since my husband isn’t friends with Drake, we received a text of an apology forwarded from his manager,” she continued. “It’s done and over with and it’s now time for people to THINK before speaking.”

We agreed. It’s been said and done. Now it’s time for everyone to move on.

Oh, by the way, Kobe and Vanessa are currently still married. Take that Drake!

For rap fans hankering for an OutKast reunion, it looks as if they will finally get to hear Big Boi and Andre 3000 together on a track. The dynamic rap dup will appear on Frank Ocean‘s remix for the track ‘Pink Matter,’ from his album ‘channel ORANGE.’

On Dec. 29, Boi shared a Tumblr post with lyrics that he jotted down for the song, including the caption, ”Dropping a verse on this Frank Ocean ‘Pink Matter’.” The remix will be reissued as a new track in a few weeks.

Ocean initially wanted OutKast on the song, but Boi informed fans via Twitter that, “Dre didn’t want an Outkast Record Coming out on anybody else LP.” The reunion on ‘Pink Matter’ will mark the first time General Patton and Three Stacks have appeared together on a project since their 2006 album, ‘Idlewild.’

In the meantime, Big Boi, who real name is Antwan Patton, announced on Wednesday (Jan. 2) that he’s set to appear on the remix to T.I.‘s song ‘Sorry’ from his LP ‘Trouble Man: Heavy Is the Head.’

Big Boi’s new album ‘Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors’ is in stores now.

Kendrick Lamar Raps in Front of the Eiffel Tower in ‘Backseat Freestyle’ Video

Rapper Kendrick Lamar takes us from Compton to Paris, France in his new video for ‘Backseat Freestyle.’ The song appears on K-Dot’s celebrated album ‘good kid, m.A.A.d city.’

Directed by Jerome D, Dave Free and Lamar, himself, the black-and-white visual boasts frenetic shots of K-Dot’s Compton neighborhood and the city of love. In addition, several key characters from his album show up in the clip as well.

Lamar’s cranky father, who, if you remember on the album, was upset that Lamar took his dominoes and never returned them. Also making appearance is the booty-shaking Sherane, the object of the rapper’s affection on the LP — particularly on ‘Poetic Justice.’

At the end of the video, the west coast emcee raps ‘Backseat Freestyle’ behind a glowing backdrop of the Eiffel Tower. Dreams do come true — just ask Kendrick Lamar.

Azealia Banks Kicks Off 2013 With New Song ‘BBD’

Azealia Banks BBD
SoundCloud

Azealia Banks starts the new year on an energetic note with her new single, ‘BBD,’ which stands for “Bad B—-es Doit.” The song is not from her upcoming album, ‘Broke With Expensive Taste,’ but it’s a preview of things to come from the Harlem rapper.

Produced by Apple Juice Kid and Sup Doodle, the music is hectic, bass heavy and tailor-made for the kids who like to rave in the clubs. It’s a little harder than Banks’ previous efforts, which tend to be sassy and cheeky.

On the song, Banks spits women empowerment rhymes and references ’90s rap group Bell Biv DeVoe in the process. “I be wilding wit my b—-es / I be stylin’ with my b—-es / Pretty eyes and long extensions — they smilin’ in all them pictures / I be rising with my b—-es / Riding with my b—-es / We the finest of them b—-es / We diamonds — it’s diamond district!” she raps.

Yep, Ms. Banks is poison to the haters when it comes to spitting her hardcore lyrics. Azealia Banks’ album ‘Broke with Expensive Taste’ is due to arrive on shelves Feb. 12.

Lil Wayne Reportedly to Star in Pixar Movie ‘The Good Dinosaur’

Rapper Lil Wayne is quite an animated figure in the rap world, but it looks like he’s going to bring his unique personality to film. According to ScreenCrush, Weezy will reportedly voice a character in a new Pixar flick titled ‘The Good Dinosaurs.’

The animated movie will be in 3D and will feature a cast of voiceovers from Jason Alexander, John Ratzenberger and Joan Rivers. The premise of ‘The Good Dinosaur’ goes something like this:

“What if the cataclysmic asteroid that forever changed life on Earth actually missed the planet completely and giant dinosaurs never became extinct?”

The movie will follow the friendship between a boy and his pet brontosaurus. ‘The Good Dinosaur’ will be directed by Bob Peterson and Peter Sohn who both worked on the 2007 animated film ‘Up.’ Their previous credits include such box-office hits as ‘Cars’ and the ‘Toy Story’ franchise.

We don’t know what kind of dinosaur Wayne will play in the movie but a baby Tyrannosaur Rex wouldn’t be too far of a stretch since he’s been a tyrant in the rap game for over a decade.

‘The Good Dinosaur’ is set to rule in theaters on May 30, 2014.

Drake Honors Uncle And Grandmother with Back Tattoo

Drake Tattoo
Twitter

We all know Drake has a penchant for getting tattoos. So over the weekend, Drizzy decided to get inked of two beloved people in his family — his late uncle, Steve, and his late grandmother, Evelyn Sher, who passed away on Thanksgiving Day.

The Young Money superstar enlist California tattoo artist Nikko Hurtado for the job, which he posted on his Twitter feed. “Rad experience with @Drake he sat like a champ,” he tweeted, adding, “Late night session @Drake thanks dude it was an honor.”

It’s a huge back tattoo with his uncle and grandmother’s face above the Aaliyah tattoo on the left. The artwork is quite impressive with every cheekbone, teeth, eyes and hair carefully detailed. It’s a beautiful homage to his uncle and nana who will always have his back.

It was his uncle and grandmother who inspired Drake to pursue a career in music. He references both of them on ‘Take Care”s piano-driven ballad ‘Look What You’ve Done.’

Drake has collected quite a few tattoos as of late. We all know about his Aaliyah face tattoo. In 2012, Drizzy got inked with Toronto’s area code “416″ on his right rib cage and Toronto’s CN Tower on his left bicep.

So what do you think of Drake’s newest tattoo? Tell us in the comments below.

Lil Wayne Releases New Track ‘Good Kush & Alcohol (B—-es Love Me)’ Featuring Drake and Future

Lil Wayne loves his, um, fans and doesn’t care about the haters on his new single, ‘Good Kush & Alcohol (B—-es Love Me).’ The song is set to appear on Weezy’s upcoming studio effort ‘I Am Not a Human Being II,’ now tentatively due out Feb. 19.

Fellow rhyme-spitters Future and Drake back Wayne up on the hook, with the former warbling (via Auto-Tune) about kush and alcohol and the former singing about how the b—-es love him.

Meanwhile, Tunechi spits rhymes about how he bags women all day and gives a stern middle finger to the haters who don’t want him to shine. “P—-, money, weed, codeine / She said my d— feel like morphine / I hope my name taste like sardines to these n—-s,” he raps.

Apparently, Weezy plans to release this Mike Will Made It-produced track to radio despite his salacious lyrics on it. “I already know that song is probably gonna be one of the biggest songs on the album,” he told Rap-Up.

Future is also confident that radio will embrace the song with open arms. “It’s a movie,” he says. “I can’t wait to see how fans respond to it.”

What do you think about the song? Tell us in the comments below.

Tyga Hit with a ‘Nasty’ Lawsuit Over Music Video

Tyga
Frederick M. Brown, Getty Images

Rapper Tyga has been slapped with three lawsuits over the music video ‘Make It Nasty.’ According to TMZ, three video vixens are suing the Young Money star claiming that their nipples were exposed without their consent in an X-rated version of the clip.

In their suits, urban models Azia Davis, Elizabeth Velasquez and Alissa Rae Ross allege that when they auditioned for their roles in the video, they were told no nudity was involved and it would be “tastefully shot.” However, when they starting filming the video on July 2 they appeared topless in some scenes but were assured that their nipples would be “edited out.”

According to the women, Tyga, apparently, leaked an uncensored version of the clip on his Twitter and the women’s nipples were not covered. Now the ladies are suing for breach of contract, invasion of privacy and fraud.

Now, for journalistic purposes, we decided to watch the uncensored version of ‘Make It Nasty,’ but we had a difficult time finding the incriminating evidence. There’s so much boobage and booties in the clip, it almost made us dizzy (not that we’re complaining, we’re just saying).

Tyga has been racking up plenty of lawsuits in 2012. The ‘Rack City’ rapper is currently being sued by a landlord in Malibu, Calif., for refusing to pay $16,000 in back rent.

Let’s hope Tyga can clear these litigations up in 2013.

Cee Lo Green’s Backstage Rider Is a Buffet That Will Destroy His Diet

Cee Lo Green
Mark Davis, Getty Images

Cee Lo Green made a New Year’s pledge to adopt a healthier lifestyle with the help of his partnership with eDiets. Well, judging by his backstage rider (the big reveal by TheSmokingGun.com), he’s not going to make good on his promise.

In the document, Green’s backstage food demands resemble a buffet menu at the Golden Corral. Among his requirements include rotating dinners of fish, rib-eye steaks and baked tuna depending on the day of the week. The ‘Voice‘ judge also requests “baked lobster and macaroni cheese” and “24 fried jumbo shrimps” and “24 sautéed jumbo shrimps” as well.

Green’s libations of choice are bottles of Ciroc vodka, Patron, Hennessy and cases of sodas, Corona and Grolsch beer. Oh, and for dessert, the crooner wants sweet potato pie and peach cobbler. Mmm, mmm good!

Now, we don’t think all of this food is for Green, himself, however, none of it is particularly healthy. The quantities of liquor alone will pack on the pounds — and let’s not get into the 48 different pieces of cooked shrimp.

If Green plans to stick to his diet he’s not going to be successful with this high-caloric rider. In comparison, Nicki Minaj‘s tour rider is much healthier than Green’s, although there are a few guilty pleasures on it (12-piece buckets of spicy fried chicken — we see you Queen Barbz!).

In the end, we still wish Green the best of luck on his weight-loss journey with eDiets. We can’t wait to see the new and improved (and hopefully svelter) crooner in 2013.
