AMC’s ‘Hell on Wheels’ Renewed for Third Season; ‘The Walking Dead’ Named 2012′s Most Watched Cable Show

Prepare for more Hell on Wheels. AMC has (finally) given the go-ahead for a third season of the gritty, Western-style drama. The renewal was initially on hold when executive producer John Shiban announced that he was leaving the series as its showrunner this October. [TVLine]

Zombies are taking over television. AMC’s The Walking Dead has been named the most watched cable show of 2012, with a total of 11.7 million viewers tuning into its highest rated episode. TNT’s The Closer and Rizzoli & Isles round out the second and third most watched series. [EW]

Chuck Lorre is extending his work relationship with CBS. The network has given the pilot production order for the Big Bang Theory and Mike & Molly creator’s new comedy, currently titled Mom. The series is a multi-camera comedy that revolvea around a single mother living in Napa Valley.  Lorre co-wrote the script with two members of his Two And A Half Men team: executive producer Eddie Gorodetsky and story editor Gemma Baker. The Client List star Jennifer Love Hewitt and Lifetime are teaming up once again — this time, for a modern-day adaptation of Jane Austin‘s Pride and Prejudice. Set in a small Virginia town, the project is said to be a modern-day retelling of the literary classic. [THR]

Megan Fox, Jessica Alba and The Office‘s Ed Helms will announce the nominations for the 70th annual Golden Globe Awards. The presentation will be held on Thursday, Dec. 13 from Los Angeles’ Beverly Hilton. The nominations will be announced in 25 categories. [Deadline]

The CW is stepping up in the reality game by ordering two new reality series, The Hunt and Perfect Score. The Hunt is a wilderness competition featuring 12 teams of two who must endure intense conditions and capture one another for a huge cash prize. Perfect Score is a dating show which gives players the opportunity to win cash as well as a date with their ideal mate. [The CW]

So talent does run in the Vergara family! Modern Family star Sofia Vergara‘s little sister, Sandra Vergara, will guest-star — and do her own singing — on an upcoming episode of CBS’ CSI. The Colombian beauty will play Silvana, a beautiful Latin pop star who is set to make her U.S. debut in Las Vegas when her sister Marta is murdered. [TVLine]

Happy Holla-days, Honey Boo Boo fans! TLC has set the dates for the Here Comes Honey Boo Boo holiday specials in 2013. The Halloween special airs Jan. 6 at 9 PM with Thanksgiving set to air a week later on Jan. 13 at 9 PM. A never-before-seen clip show will air on Feb. 10 at 8 PM, while Santa will visit the Thompson family on Feb. 17 at 8 PM. [TLC]

Bar owners beware! Spike TV’s makeover show Bar Rescue is set to premiere its third season on Sunday, Feb. 10 at 9 PM. The debut episode will center around nightlife consultant Jon Taffer trying to save Turtle Bay on New Orleans’ iconic Bourbon Street. [Spike TV]

CMT is celebrating a new year with big premieres as Season 3 of My Big Redneck Vacation is slated to air on Saturday, Jan. 26 at 9 PM. Starring Tom Arnold, the family comedy will be followed by the series premiere of Guntucky at 10 PM. [CMT]

NBC’s The Voice continues to dominate in Tuesday night ratings, raking in 11.3 million viewers. The network also got a little boost from the last Parenthood episode of 2012 — which matched its season high in adults 18-49 — and the second night of Howie Mandel‘s Take It All. [Zap2It]
